Finding Home #4

Tied Up in Riches

Rate this book
Brooke Fields will do just about anything to avoid going home to her mother’s unsolicited match-making—that’s why she’s been in Thailand for three years.
Before she sets off on her next adventure, a vacation in Oregon takes an unexpected twist when a friend introduces her to bar owner and secret millionaire, Marcus Cole.

After only a few weeks, this place that was only supposed to be a pit stop on her journey starts to feel like home—but with limited space in the house, she doesn’t want to overstay her welcome.

Marcus Cole is a simple man, despite his bank account suggesting otherwise. After hiring Brooke, the two not only find a way to work well together in business but also discover they have more in common than all of Marcus’ failed coffee dates combined.

And when Brooke can no longer avoid the dreaded trip back to her parents, Marcus agrees to accompany her—as her fake boyfriend.

Once their chemistry becomes impossible to ignore, will Brooke keep her vow to never again get tied up with a wealthy man, or will Marcus become the exception to her rule?

Tied Up In Riches is the fourth and final book of the Finding Home series. For the best experience (and to avoid spoilers), the series should be read in order. However, this book can be read as a standalone.

Tisa Matthews has concluded her Finding Home series excellently! This boss/employee fake dating insta love yet slowburn is a delightful and spicy read, and a healthier 50 Shades of Grey that is less about sex and money and more about love and hope. 💙
“Sometimes, when I look into the night sky, at the swirls of stars and the planets, I feel so small and insignificant. But other times, I think that if I exist in a place where I get to witness something so extraordinary and powerful, there’s meaning in that. That I'm a part of what makes life spin on its axis. Marcus makes me feel like that.

[ Contains some spoilers ]

PLOT SUMMARY
24-year-old Brooke Fields moved to Thailand for 3 years to escape her forced engagement to Beau, a lawyer who is a nasty piece of work. Her horrid mother had set her up with him because she wants a rich man to support both Brooke and herself (mostly herself).

She takes a break in Oregon to visit her friend Maci and avoid returning to Connecticut where her mum will match-make all over again. She stays with bar owner Marcus Cole. Envious of his friends all in relationships, too busy to find the right woman for him, and usually the one for casual relationships, Marcus finds himself strangely and instantly drawn to Brooke.

At first, she helps out at the bar and provides ideas on how to attract more customers. Her intelligence makes Marcus hire her as his personal assistant. Beau, desiring to get back together with Brooke, buys her ticket back to Connecticut, leaving Brooke faced with a dilemma. She decides that with Marcus’ help, she can pretend that Marcus is her boyfriend and it will get her mother and ex-fiancé off her back.

A strong desire for each other begins to blossom, the line between real and fake blurs and things get very heated fast. But Brooke’s trauma with Beau has left her with a permanent hate of rich men. And little does she know Marcus is secretly a millionaire but is scared to reveal his secret because of this hatred. When Beau threatens to spill all, Marcus must tell Brooke before it is too late. But will she accept him for who he is?

This is told from a first-person present-tense dual POV of Brooke and Marcus.
“Your life only becomes what you want when you set requirements rather than expectations. If someone can’t meet those requirements, you don’t lower your expectations. You leave.”

OVERALL OPINIONS
Tisa Matthews has mentioned both on her social media and in her Author’s Note section that this story was never meant to be written. Marcus and Brooke were side characters created for And Then There’s You: Marcus serves as a wingman for Dean; Brooke provides comfort and support for Maci. I have to say I am very glad they both got their own story!

Their relationship is described as “somewhat unconventional”. Arguably, I would say there are all the usual elements of a romance in this story: boss/employee relationship, secret feelings, only one bed, forced proximity, disapproving family and found family. The only difference is there is a touch of bondage but this is only used as a means of exploring control, the issues of it and the better side of it: Brooke has been with a red flag of a man who constantly controlled her and had her do chores for him, Marcus shows her a healthier side where there is consent, trust and a selfless motive:
“There’s a difference between someone not letting you be in control so they have power over you and someone being in control so they can take care of you.”

This whole aspect of the book was so well done, and I feel like this quote above is something everyone needs to hear. I am glad Brooke sees her worth and grows more confident thanks to Marcus.

Matthews says that this story was the easiest to write and I feel this reflects in the story: the plot is straightforward, everything flows well, all characters serve a purpose. There are plenty of beautiful descriptions too, I am greedy for more. One example is “the warmth of his hand in mine soothes my entire body like a cup of tea” – isn’t that just so sweet but stunning?

While I have not read all of the books from this series, I was fortunate enough to read the previous story Can We Just Be Happy Now? about Sophie and Cooper. I have to say I love this one the most, I really do. I think a lot of it has to do with the ages of the characters: Sophie and Cooper are in their late teens/early twenties and there is a lot of immaturity to match, Brooke and Marcus here are far more mature and tons better at communicating.

There were maybe a few things I would have liked added or done differently but overall, this is a masterpiece of a conclusion to Matthew’s series that I am rather sad to leave. I love everything about this and will be sure to read it again!

<< Positives >>
🠚The cover is gorgeous merging blue and purple (Brooke’s favourite colour) and it directly depicts a scene in the book, the balcony scene, something I always love!
🠚The paragraph dividers are Thai tea, which is a very sweet touch because the moment he makes her Thai tea is essentially where they both fall in love with each other.
🠚All the characters from the previous books in the series are either here or are mentioned. Even Cooper and Sophie which, truth be told, it would have been nice to have had them in more scenes than just the epilogue.
🠚Marcus’ nickname “love” for Brooke is such a big thing because of their conversation where Brooke reveals she thinks the word is overrated and meaningless after a while and Marcus disagrees. Therefore he is constantly reminding her of his love for her, though he has not said it yet:
“Love is such a simple word that *should* hold so much power. But it's overused and abused to the point where it feels like it’s lost all meaning. Things you do embody love far better than the word ever could, anyway.” She shrugs.
“But ignoring the word doesn’t make the feeling cease to exist,” I argue.
🠚Brooke’s character development is so great to see.
🠚The spice and the consent! Exquisite! As it should.
🠚The realistic element that not everyone can reach an orgasm, as some people cannot relax or clear their self-conscious thoughts. I like that Marcus looks up things so he can try to help Brooke find a way. Bless him!

<< Negatives >>
🠚It was rather anticlimactic with Beau: he threatens to reveal Marcus’ secret, nearly manages to and then doesn’t get the chance – and that’s the last we see of him? The next thing we hear is he is under investigation for disbarment. I think it would have been better if he had revealed it somehow, as there could have been more done with the controlling concept where we see Brooke holding her own against Beau to the extent he is shocked into silence.
🠚It was also anticlimactic when the reveal actually happened. There is no real conflict between Marcus and Brooke, because Marcus gets ready to go onto TV and Brooke talks it through with Maci instead before deciding it’s all goods. I like that Maci and her do this because it parallels nicely with Brooke helping Maci in Book 1, so I think this could have still been done but more conflict beforehand.
🠚Marcus was going to figure out why Cam is in “the category of rich but not hated for Brooke” – what happened to this discussion? Why was this never addressed?
🠚Brooke is Marcus’ assistant throughout the whole story and then isn’t by the epilogue. I was hoping they would be working together. The selling custom boxes idea is nice, but I don’t think there was enough of this explored earlier that it felt random. For example, if she had said it was her dream to do that, that would have worked.
🠚I was hoping Brooke’s mother would find out about Marcus being rich, changing her tune with him, then Marcus and Brooke being like “yeahhh you’re not getting a single penny” or something haha. It would have been such poetic justice; it is a shame this opportunity did not present itself!
🠚The ending felt a little unsatisfactory. Of course, the choice of getting married and/or having kids is personal and different for every person: not all women want to have children and that’s fine. But it seems a waste to have that scene where they are both good with children if it wasn’t going anywhere plot-wise. It had the opposite effect on me: I actually thought they were going to have children.
🠚The epilogue should indicate explicitly how many months later it has been since the previous chapter, under the epilogue title.

CHARACTERS
-ˋˏ ꒰ Brooke꒱ ˎˊ-
↳ She is such a strong beautiful person. She is, as Marcus says, “so effortlessly kind and thoughtful in a way that makes me want to be the same”. I like that her confidence boosts thanks to Marcus. And finds a support system in her new friend group.
🠚When she said Beau has a “Warner Huntington III” smirk (love Legally Blonde, by the way), I knew honey had dodged a bullet. I am glad the problem of toxic and manipulative partners is addressed in this book.
🠚I relate to how Brooke trusts her guts about situations, because same. Also, facts when she said about Australia being where “arguably the hottest men on the planet live”.
🠚Only reading romance is also relatable to me haha. And agreed, “a man who reads is hot”.
“I’ll happily be tied up in riches if it means I’m tied to you.”

-ˋˏ ꒰ Marcus꒱ ˎˊ-
↳ This man is so fine, y’all! So dang fine! Also, his nickname for Brooke being “love” ahhh! In the words of Lexy “How fucking cute. Please keep him” – or I will haha! I loved him the moment he brought her the tea.
🠚The way he calms Brooke down by covering her knee, it reminded me of the film Anastasia.
🠚I relate to Marcus flicking through the TV channels “Junk. Click. Trash. Click. Stupid. This is why I hardly watch TV. Click”. I also related to when he is jealous of the couples around him, because same. I just want to know when it’s my turn!
“No matter where we are, I want this to be real. This *is* real.

FAV QUOTES
• Money makes people deranged–lie, cheat, steal, manipulate, create misconceptions. They’re less likely to do those things when they don’t know about your wealth.
• Reading and maturity are paired together at the top of my qualities I want in a man wish list.
• After another good once-over of the planet, I step back. “Sorry, you can have a turn now.” | “I already got a good view,” he says, not taking his eyes off me.
The way she looks at the stars–like they are what makes life worth living–makes me want to slow down for the first time. I swear she’s looked at me a few times like that–when she thought I wouldn’t notice.
“Adversity is subjective. We’re all entitled to our triggers and challenges based on our experiences. It’s more about how we overcome them that defines us.”
• “I want to wake up next to the woman I love because I *want* to, not because I’m *supposed* to.”
• I pressed a kiss to her neck. “Let me break the rule,” I say against her skin. | “Marcus.” The sound of my name on her desperate lips makes me never want to hear it said by anyone else again. “Yes. Please, yes.”
• She’s standing at the edge of the balcony, her wine glass on the edge she’s leaned against, her hands pressed on the white marble. My drink is in its place next to hers. I join her but stay a step back so I can observe. I might not trust a lot of people, but I want to trust her. I don’t let a lot of people into my life, but I want her to be all-consuming. I want her ingrained in every aspect of my life.
• I’m lost in her. Present. She makes me not want to be anywhere else or care about anything else except this moment with her.
I want Brooke Fields. And not for fake. Because this one kill will never be enough.
• There’s something about it that makes me feel undeniably connected not only to him but to myself. The way he touches me–like I’m precious–it makes me love myself more than I’ve ever felt. He makes me feel grounded, safe, ecstasy–physically and mentally.
• “So we’re on the same page?” she clarifies again. | “Same page, love. Same book. Right place. Right time. The one we’ve been looking for.”

Thank you to Tisa Matthews, Victory Editing, and NetGalley for the eARC of this book. This is my honest review.

This was such a quick, enjoyable read. Brooke just returned after spending the last three years living in Thailand. Her friend offers her a place to live, in a spare bedroom, in their very rich friend/roommate's (Marcus) house. When Brooke's mother attempts to matchmake Brook, this leads to Brooke and Marcus forming a fake relationship.

I think that Brooke and Marcus were a great couple. They really wanted what was best for each other, and did whatever they could for the other person. Their relationship was conveyed so well.

I was so lucky to beta read this book for Tisa and am SO excited to have read the finished product!!

What i absolutely love about this book and these characters is the "unconventional" relationship. No birth control and natural cycle tracking? Love it. Not wanting to get married for the sake of "being married"? Love it. Both main characters being child free by choice and open about it? OBSESSED. And you still get all the romance, swoon and spice with it!! What more can you ask for?

If you want a book that has found family, is thought provoking, brings the drama, and doesnt fit in the typical romance box while still being a beautiful love story, this is it!!

PSA to anyone who is upset that the characters have a happy ending without kids:

Happiness is defined as "an emotional state characterized by feelings of joy, satisfaction, contentment and fulfillment." Who are you to say someone cannot have a happy ending just because they don't have kids? Did you know there are people out there living life and loving it without children? For many reasons that are nobody's business! It's a very realistic depiction of people who aren't represented in the romance world and I'm THANKFUL to Tisa for showing that all romance does not fit in a conventional box of marriage and children.

If this unconventional happy ending upsets you, you should take this as a sign to be more open minded and accepting that there are people, and even fictional characters, that are *gasp* different from you!

Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ½

“You are everything good that money can’t buy, Brooke Fields. I can’t wait to experience every piece of you.”

Wow just wow! I think Tisa really outdid herself with this book. Brooke and Marcus were absolutely perfect for each other. I loved how unapologetically herself Brooke was even when she had her vulnerable moments. Marcus is down bad for Brooke! He really knew that Brooke was something special and agrees to be her fake boyfriend to get her mom off her back. I loved how Marcus had Brooke’s back and was protective of her.

Marcus and Brooke have been looking for a safe place to land. Brooke fled the country to go to Thailand after leaving her ex-fiance but wasn’t really satisfied while Marcus has dedicated his life to his work, leaving no room for love. Marcus helps build Brooke up and help her realize her dreams while Brooke helps Marcus slow down in life. It was so beautiful to see these characters overcome their own hesitations with love and realize that it’s not all that bad when you have the right person in your life. They found each other at the right time and it was so beautiful to read.

Thank you Tisa Matthews for this eARC!

Marcus deserves everything he’s worked so hard to get and more. I loved his character and will definitely be going back to read the first 3 books in this series to get more little *glimmers* of him.

Brooke is an absolute gem and I’m so happy she found everything she had been searching for. Her character growth is so amazing and the 2 of them are so perfect for each other.

My only negative about this book is the long chapters but that’s honestly a personal preference and had no effect on my rating/review of this book.

***SPOILERS BELOW***

I really love that the ending/epilogue of this story didn’t progress in the traditional way. They didn’t feel the need to be married because they were so happy with the way things are and are choosing to wake up next to each other rather than doing it because they’re legally obligated to do so.

And them choosing not to have children is refreshing as well because my husband and I have also made this choice and it’s great to see that representation.

Matthew’s has Found Home!

The fourth and final book of her debut series wraps up all arcs and leaves you satisfied!

This one takes a different twist, but the slow burn between the main characters is PERFECT.

Also, the introduction of “glimmers” is now a thing I use in my own life. The perspective Brooke brings to her life is relatable and makes you want to root for her.

Well done and kudos to Tisa Matthews! The series is complete and perfect.

If I could rate it 100+ I would!
This was absolutely everything and more!
I loved loved loved these characters and their story! And I can’t wait for everyone to meet them and fall in love with them too!
Thank you so much Tisa for allowing me to read this.
The FMC and MMC have quickly become one of my favourite couple’s.
The fact he gave her everything she needed right from the beginning☕️
From a big oth fan,The OTH reference had me 🫠 the glimmers hit home. And the struggles of being in your head was so relatable,it was really nice to see the communication and patience that Marcus had and gave without hesitation and to top it all off secretley swimming in 💵💵
And the spice was spot on!
I didn’t read the other books in this series before this but I’ve already SPRINTED to KU and downloaded them! I cannot wait to read the others!
I will be without a doubt recommending this to everyoneeee.
I can’t wait to see what else Tisa writes🫶🏻

📝My Review📝

Where to begin with this review. "Tied Up In Riches" has been the novel I have been patiently (well maybe not so patiently) waiting for this year! But let me tell you, Tisa Matthews did not disappoint! I knew from book one of the Finding Home Series that Marcus was and would be THE favorite character of mine. Throughout the series I kept thinking that he needed his time to shine and boy did Tisa do just that!

Throughout the novel readers will follow the MCs’ growing relationship and have moments of revisiting older MCs relationships from the prior novels. While this is a stand alone novel, I found that reading the other novels in the series have only enhanced the experience and built a stronger connection to the characters and their universe. Although I favored particular characters more than others, I have found a deeper understanding and appreciation for each character due to the continuous character growth throughout the series. I believe that this only enhanced my love for this novel as I have grown to love Marcus more and more as his character unfolded.

Matthews’ continued her writing style of including different POVs which created a well rounded story telling experience. In addition, Matthews maintained her skill of drawing her readers and connecting them to the characters. As the reader one will feel the story play out right in front of their eyes. It was as if I were at the movies, enjoying a great rom-com that had me gushing over the leading man. The spice in this novel is enjoyable, but not over the top or unrealistic. The writing within the spice scenes are descriptive, but they are not overbearing to read.

Furthermore, I enjoyed Matthews’ diversity in the life journeys that she wrote about within each of her novels. She has included HEAs that do not follow what society has deemed as “typical relationship endings”. It is refreshing and realistic as each of romances had their own journey and self defined HEA based on the couples mutual and individual goals and desires. The realism of this series is the greatest asset as you feel, understand, and experience the journey on a deeper level. I have found and experienced happiness, disbelief, enjoyment, frustration, excitement, passion, humility, and humbleness throughout my journey in the Finding Home Series. Specifically in this fourth and final installment of the series, I felt excitement, yearning, desire, understanding, grace, and closure. Like the other novels, “Tied Up in Riches” is throughly enjoyable, but Matthews also did a marvelous job connecting and creating the closure that the series needed while telling Marcus and Brooke’s story. This is a must read for readers who enjoy realistic and heartfelt romances!

🤍Thanks to Tisa Matthews for trusting me with their novel in return for my personal review🤍

When Brooke returns to the States after 3 years in Thailand, her friend Maci offers her a friendly place to land in Oregon. Maci and her fiance live in their best friend Marcus's house with no spare bedroom.
Marcus is a secret millionaire (you'd never know it by how down to earth he is) and a workaholic. He offers Brooke his bedroom and a job!
Brooke is a wanderer and a dreamer at heart whose past has led her to hate rich people.

When Brooke's mother and Ex-fiance/Ex-boss force her to return home to Connecticut, Marcus agrees to go along as her fake boyfriend. He finds that her mother is status-obsessed and her Ex is a hotshot lawyer and a grade-A douche, and both try to control Brooke and make her feel small. Marcus feels the urge to protect her, and sparks fly.
Plot: 4⭐️
Tropes: secret millionaire, found family, forced proximity, fake dating, workaholic/free-spirit, open door,
Characters: 4⭐️ The MMC and FMC were fleshed out well. I got a good sense of who they were, and I liked them. Especially Marcus 😍. I will say, some of the supporting character, namely the mom and D-bag Ex, were a little flat for me.
Ease of reading: 4.5⭐️
Enjoyment/vibes: 4⭐️
Chemistry: 4.5⭐️
Spice: open-door. There is some definite steam and some spice, but as much as "being tied up" is foreshadowed/alluded to, it was really quite mild. The author herself did say that it's more "Vanilla w/ sprinkles". 4⭐️ 2.75🌶

Overall: 4⭐️
I'd never read anything by Tisa Matthews before. This is the 4th book in a series, but it was readable and enjoyable as a standalone. However, it does spoil plots for the previous books, as you see who people end up with, etc. I will probably go back and read them, but I don't think it will bother me.
Overall, I enjoyed the book! It was written well, it kept my interest and it had good pacing. 👍

Brooke Fields is determined to return home to her mother’s unsolicited match-making. Before her next adventure, she decides to visit a friend, only to find herself introduced to bar owner and secret millionaire, Marcus Cole. Marcus quickly hires Brooke to help him in his business and finds that they work well together. When Brooke must return home to her parents, Marcus agrees to accompany her as her fake boyfriend. Soon, Brooke finds herself questioning her vow to never again get tied up with a wealthy man as she finds her time spent with Marcus could be something more.
Marcus was a sweet man whose wealth has come from hard work and has not impacted his nature. His patience with Brooke was endearing, as she struggles to overcome her past toxic relationship. Her desire and struggle to remove herself from her family life and her ex-fiancé made for an interesting read.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 🌶️🌶️🌶️

After reading this book, I discovered that Brooke and Marcus were originally only supposed to be side characters in previous books. They never meant to have their own stories, nor end up together. Well, I haven’t read the books where they are first introduced, but I am so glad that Tisa wrote this book! Don’t worry, it is part of an interconnected series, but I never felt like I was missing pieces. If anything, I need to go back and read the first three asap.

Brooke has been running for her matchmaking mother for years. Her mother never had Brooke’s best interest at heart, just wanted a rich man to provide for Brooke (and mainly herself). When Brooke decides to visit a friend in Oregon, she meets Marcus. She helps him out as his bar and brings new life to the place.

Marcus, being a self-declared causal relationship guy only, hires Brooke to be his personal assistant after the success she has in bringing business to the bar. He finds himself pulled towards Brooke in a way that is foreign to him. He agrees to a fake relationship to keep Brooke’s mother and ex from dragging her home, but from will the relationship stay fake or will he give into these feelings?

Tisa writes excellently. She knows how to capture her audience and balance a story well. You could easily see how much she loves the characters she writes and how much of her own heart goes into her work. The character development is wonderful throughout the book and watching, well reading, Brooke and Marcus become more was so well done. I can’t wait to read more of her!

As always review trigger warnings before reading.

This is book 4 in the Finding Home series and while it can be read as a standalone, it does container spoilers so best to read the books in order from the beginning.

Marcus and Brooke are great together. They were instantly attracted to one another and it didn't take much to convince them that fake dating would be a good option to get Brooke's mother and ex-fiancé off her back when she returns to Connecticut for a visit.

There was no miscommunication (a welcome relief after book 3!) and both characters were open with each other when it counted. They both admitted early on that there was nothing fake about their relationship, that they were both into it because it's what they wanted. Even when Marcus kept his billionaire status from Brooke, when he did tell her she took it pretty well though it did help that she had Maci there to talk some reason into her as well.

This book alludes to issues between Sophie, Dean and their father - this also comes up in their own books but it doesn't really seem like it was much of an issue and now suddenly in book 4 he may not even be invited to Dean's wedding! I'm not sure what has happened but it feels like there is a vital piece of information missing that maybe should have been covered in this book either through Maci and Brooke talking or an epilogue at the end like they did with their story at the end of book 2.

This was a really quick read and definitely one of my favourites in the series. It's spicy but not as spicy as I was expecting when I read there was going to be a bit of BDSM and Marcus liking to be in control. I thought it was quite tame really, but it was still enjoyable.

Thanks to NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

SO many things I love about this book!! This is Tisa’s 4th book - the last in the Finding Home series - and WOW did she bring it with this one!

Things I loved - a vulnerable yet strong FMC who knows what she does and doesn’t want. Who isn’t afraid to put her trust in Marcus. A secret millionaire MMC who uses his wealth to build others instead of being a flash playboy, and only wants to love and care for Brooke without leaving her ‘behind the scenes’.

Things I didn’t love - nothing.

Brooke and Marcus are each other’s perfect counterparts - each searching for someone to love them for who they are instead of what they do or don’t have, who loves the simple things in life and overall just wants that love and affection of a life partner. They are, simply, perfect for each other.
He helps her build her dreams, overcome her fears in the bedroom with tender coaxing and care, and she loves him regardless of his wealth or status.

Tisa’s writing here is definitely her best yet! The story flows so well, she brought out all the emotions I expect to feel with these complex characters and their own issues, as well as the bigger picture things like marriage and children. I loved her views here, the unconventional that is often looked down on by society but more often felt by many. Her spice scenes have really stepped up too! I was kicking my feet in excitement and getting all the heart flutters!

I absolutely loved this book. Definitely Tisa’s best work and my favourite of her characters so far 💙💜

This was my first Tisa Matthews read. Coming into the end of the series, I’m intrigued to look back at the prior books as it does a good job at introducing the already established couples.

Brooke comes back from Thailand and ends up staying at Marcus’s apartment as a stop-gap before going home. Marcus spots Brooke’s potential and business acumen leading him to offer her a job. All the while, they try to fight their attraction to each other. When Brooke can’t put off her trip home any longer, Marcus volunteers to play the part of her boyfriend so she has a buffer between herself, her ex-fiancée and her overbearing mother. It isn’t long before it feels anything but fake, but with Marcus keeping his net-worth a secret it threatens to drive them apart before the relationship starts.

The publisher describes the spice as “vanilla with sprinkles” and that is spot on. There are a few spicy scenes that don’t feel over the top.

I liked the found family aspect of this book. The group welcomes Brooke with open arms and the group texts felt authentic. I also appreciated how Marcus and Brooke defined their happy ending.
There were some scenes of the book that felt a little rinse and repeat in terms of Marcus being a workaholic. I also found the choice of using Backstreet Boys a little bit of an odd pop culture choice with Brooke being so young.

Overall, it was a good book and I think that Tisa’s writing will only get better from here.

This open-door spicy rom-com is about Marcus, a secret millionaire, and Brooke, a go where the wind takes her girl who hates the rich. Brooke stays in Marcus's room while visiting her friend in Oregon. She is looking for where life takes her next when Marcus offers her a job as his assistant. Marcus owns his own company and is a wealthy investor who wants to use his money to do good for the world.

Brooke is pressured into visiting her overbearing mother, who wants Brooke to get back together with her toxic, rich, ex-fiance Beau. Marcus volunteers to go with Brooke and be her fake boyfriend for the week. While Marcus is staying with her, he realizes that he wants their relationship to be real. He just needs to convince Brooke that it should be. As he falls for Brooke, Marcus must decide whether to keep his wealth a secret from her or come clean and risk losing her…
---
I enjoyed Marcus and Brooke’s personalities and their ability to work together to solve problems. Marcus is sweet and patient. The relationships between the friend groups in the book were captivating. Marcus’s perspective was well written, and I loved reading his thoughts as he fell deeper and deeper for Brooke. I felt connected to Brooke and her desire to find a fulfilling life for herself. I had a little trouble getting into the book at first due to a few time skips that showed gaps in the interactions between Marcus and Brooke. Overall this was a really fun read.

Thank you Netgalley and Tisa Matthews for this advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.

Tisa does it again, for a 4th time! Tied Up In Riches is the fourth and final book in the Finding Home Series. I can honestly say her writing style has truly blossomed and it shows in this final book.

First of all let’s just chat about a man with man bun. YUMMM. And Marcus Cole can 1000% pull it off. If you love a workaholic vibe but shows he’s considerate and caring by giving a girl their favorite tea and brewing it for her, then he’s your man. Second, let’s add in that he’s a SECRET millionaire just puts the icing on the cake. Lastly his choice of “props” in the bedroom will make you want to swoon. Now don’t get too overwhelmed, this spicy novel is vanilla with some added sprinkles for fun ✨

Now let’s chat about Brooke Fields. Talk about a character that I literally had so much in common with and have felt so many feelings she feels through out this book. I loved how easily I fell in love with her and how much I wanted her to succeed and grow into the person she was meant to become. It was kind of almost like Brooke was your best friend that you just wanted all the positive things to happen to her. We all need someone like Brooke in our lives to help us see all the GLIMMERS 🌈 ✨⭐️

This book has it all! On top of fun girl chats, love quotes that make you swoon and parts that make you laugh out loud!

Brooke Fields
Marcus Cole
#4 Finding Home Series

Brooke a Thailand return friend of Maci ( who is also Marcus's friend) have some serious aversion to Rich people is unknown to the fact that Marcus at whose place she is offered to stay at is one of them.

The initial attraction between the two is very obvious to all but when Marcus offers her a job to help her get back her confidence and freedom back, it was also to rein his feelings for her.

Brooke on the other hand helps the workaholic Marcus to share his load of work but to slow down and enjoy his life.

And while they have to fake a relationship to get Brooke's obnoxious mother and ex-fiance off her back they didn't realize when it turned true.

But what will happen when Brooke gets to know about Marcus being rich?? Will she be able to accept the exception being Marcus??

Tisa has this way of writing where she covers the complex realities of life and presents them in a beautiful way making it easy to understand and gives us an insightful experience.

In this book she covers the complexity in relationships caused by money and societal obligations and people pleasing amongst others.

If you like a book with realities of life handled with care then this one is for you.

Toodles 💕

Thank you for NetGalley and Tisa Matthews for this ARC!! 4.5⭐️/5

Tied Up in Riches is a billionaire fake dating romance, about Brooke and Marcus. They meet through a mutual friend while Brooke hides out at Marcus’ home (without knowing he’s a billionaire). The two become close and eventually embark on a fake dating scheme to keep her mother from pushing a relationship with her abusive ex. Tied Up in Riches is smart and sexy - and a lot of fun.

Brooke and Marcus are lovely characters. They’re both smart and witty, while still having moments of vulnerability and uncertainty. Often in romances like this, I find the MMC to be difficult to love until about halfway through. But early on, Marcus established himself pretty clearly in the good guy column. Brooke was a fun character and I loved her concept of “Thai Brooke” and the reminder to do what makes us feel happiest and most in sync with ourselves. Their love story was fun - and Marcus was a great fake boyfriend (even if he worked too much).

I read this pretty quickly, wanting to know what happened. It was fun, enjoyable, and the spice was great. I loved watching the build up happen. Overall a good read!

it was such a beautiful story between Brooke and Marcus, and now i wish i read the others first 😭
the found family was so damn cute and makes me want a friend group like that as well.
something about the writing style makes it so easy to read but also gets you just so emotional.
oh and that spice 🫣 so damn hot, like 🫣🫣

marcus cole.
that man is a workaholic to say the least.
but he’s also sweet, hot 🤭 ( in suits ) and really like caring.
he is the type of guy that says „what’s mine is yours“
i really liked him tough.
but sometimes it annoyed me HOW much he worked.

brooke fields.
such a sweet girl. 🫶🏼

something about her personality is just so comforting and so easy to like!

if you liked the other books of this series, than i would definitely recommend this one!

First of all- MC with a man bun?? Immediately yes 👏

Brooke is a strong and independent FMC who knows exactly what she wants out of life and isn’t afraid to express it. She found herself in Thailand and now her confidence in Marcus.

Marcus is HOT 🥵 he gives the vibe of the chill but king and caring older brother who takes care of everyone. He’s a billionaire, but not the rich snobby kind (because, ew.) He uses his wealth to build up the people around him and you’d never even know he has money- Brooke sure didn’t 🤭

Don’t even get me started on the spice 🌶️
Tisa described it as “vanilla with sprinkles” and it is exactly that. I love the way Marcus eases Brooke into feeling comfortable all while being fully confident he can get the job done. He never stopped checking to make sure she was comfortable while offering the perfect amount of control.

I first fell in love with Tisa’s writing when I arc read CWJBHN? and this one did not disappoint. The way she writes the characters so in tune with their personalities and emotions and makes it flow into a story of growth is amazing 🩵

I'm not sure how I feel about this book. Although it took until 70% to get spice, I enjoyed the scenes depicted and there was some spice happening even up until 93%.

It's the plot itself I found myself unsure about. I'm kind of over the rich businessman trope, but there were plenty of other tropes along the way including: boss/employee, forced proximity, fake dating, and only one bed.

The part I can't wrap my head around liking or not liking was the lack of conflict in the novel. There was promise of conflict that turned out to not be a big deal. I mean, I love the odd book that doesn't have a third act breakup, but without conflict, is there much plot at all?

I didn't find myself relating to the FMC or liking nor disliking her either. The MMC falls first and is likeable, but is almost too good with no flaws.

Something I REALLY liked was that the characters explicitly don't want to marry or have kids which is so freaking refreshing! I'm happily married, but we've chosen not to have kids and it's so common for every character to talk about having kids someday.

"I don't hear or see any of them, though. It's just her."

Tisa has done it again with this story wrapping up the Finding Home series. A stray away from the normal tropes of this author, this fake dating/secret millionaire story sent me to the stars. Marcus is easily the dreamiest character of this series and I will be obsessed with him and Brooke for the rest of my days.

The slight kinks and the adrenalizing spicy scenes will have you on the edge of your seat and yourself 😉.

Brooke's growth was kindled by Marcus and his determination to make her life better. This could be the biggest reason that Marcus is my new fantasy man, because holy hell... 🥵🥵🥵🥵

Overall, I have absolutely fallen in love with these characters, the storylines, and this series as a whole. This story was just the perfect and unexpected conclusion to this series that will now have a forever home on my shelf of favorites. 💕💖

Tied up in Riches is Tisa Matthews 4th book but can be read as a stand alone. There are some parts where it would make sense to read the previous books before hand but it’s not necessary to fully enjoy this lovely novel. Brooke’s story absolutely broke my heart, I hate how vulnerable she was left feeling with the urge to simply running away from what was not fit for her. I definitely sympathized with her. The fact that she coincidentally ran into Marcus gave me some healing. He was such a sweetheart from the start, wanting to know more and please her in every way without her even asking for it. Marcus is a keeper. I wish I could have him for myself lol. I give this novel 5stars more if possible. Any lady would adore this book. I will definitely be going back to read the remainder of Tisa’s series. She has won a spot on my fave authors list. Thank you for your beautifully written words Tisa.

I fell in love with Marcus within the first 10 pages. He is so sweet and mindful and lovely. He is truly a force, even though he can't always see it. And Brooke is SUCH a good match for him. Their dynamic is beautifully written.

One of my favorite things about this book is the character development—you truly see, on page, just how far each of the MCs grow and develop through out the story. In between the spice and romance and fake dating, each is bettered by the encouragement and care of the other, and I ate that UP.

ALSO—as an Oregonian at heart (born and partially raised there), I loved all of the different PNW niches that made it into this book. Tisa sure knows how to write a PNW love story.

Tropes:
- Found Family
- Fake Dating
- Boss x Assistant / Workaholic x Wanderlust
- Open-Door Semi-Kinky Spice
- Secret Millionaire
- One Bed
- Dual POV

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Spice: 🌶🌶🌶.5/5

This was so GOOD! Secret millionaire, open door spicy romance.

Brooke hates rich people. The reason being her mother’s intense work getting Brooke married to a rich guy so he would also take care of her mother – in the financial way. She was engaged to marry rich but broke it off and moved to Thailand for three years. During this time, she meets a friend which she visits when coming to Oregon.

Marcus is a secret millionaire, who doesn’t like flaunting his wealth and seems like a genuine good guy. She ends up moving in with her friend and Marcus and their story begins. And it’s a good one!

I loved the writing in this book. Had a hard time putting it down. The spice was good! I haven’t read any books form this author before – but I will be on the lookout for any new one coming from Tisa!

Thank you so much to NetGalley, the publishers and the author for the opportunity to read this. All opinions expressed are my own.

This is my first Tisa Matthew read. And OMG!! I couldn’t get enough. I will definitely be going back and reading book 1-3. I ate this book up! (Literally stayed up until 6am because I couldn’t put it down)

This is a romance novel about two people from different worlds who fall in love. The story explores how they deal with their differences and the challenges that come with their relationship. Marcus and Brooke are absolutely perfect for each other. I loved them so much individually but I loved them even more together. The instant connection between them. (is chefs kiss) I feel like they brought the best sides out of each other. (so much better together) This story kept me interested from beginning to end. It's was such a great and easy read if you enjoy romance and drama.

Thank you so much to NetGalley & Tisa Matthews for allowing me to read a copy of this amazing book. (everything is my honest opinion)

This book was a blast!

Brooke Fields, who's been dodging her mom's matchmaking by living in Thailand for three years, takes a detour to Oregon and ends up meeting Marcus Cole, a down-to-earth bar owner who also happens to be a secret millionaire.

The sparks between Brooke and Marcus are undeniable, and their chemistry is off the charts!

I loved how their relationship developed at just the right pace—nothing felt rushed, but it also wasn’t dragged out. They make such a great team, both in business and in life, and it’s clear they’re perfect for each other.

When Marcus agrees to play the role of Brooke's fake boyfriend on a trip home, things really start to heat up. The whole fake-dating setup is so much fun, especially when their feelings start to get real.

Overall, this book is a fun, feel-good read with a perfect mix of romance and humor.

Thank you NetGalley and Tisa Matthew’s for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

If you like fake dating, found family, and secret billionaires add this to your TBR

Brooke is a free spirit just getting back from an impulsive 3 year trip to Thailand. As she gets back on her feet in the U.S. she stays with her friend Maci which means she actually is staying with Marcus. Marcus is a workaholic and secret billionaire but he finds himself wanting to take time away from work for Brooke. The only problem is Brooke hates billionaires. When Brooke needs a fake boyfriend to get her mom off her back Marcus agrees to fake date Brooke. Can Marcus get Brooke to fall in love with him before she finds out his secret

This was a fun light read. I do wish it had a bit more drama. I really liked the characters and their friend group. I’m excited to go back and read the other couples stories.

I LOVED THIS BOOK! Tied Up in Riches was an amazing story with character development and a plot so fun, I enjoyed the spice but was always excited for the story to continue afterwards (vs those books where the plot drags on and the next sexy scene is all that keeps me going). These characters were on a bit of a non-traditional path that I absolutely loved. It is the last in a series of interconnected stand alones and can be completely understood on its own. I highly recommend this book! If you like to be consumed by the characters, love yelling at them every now and then, and love watching their journey unfold, this book is for you.

(In an effort to comply with the FCC, I must tell you all I received this book as part of a PR box, HOWEVER, the above review is entirely my own, honest opinion. I do not post reviews for books I rate less than 3 stars or that I DNF.)
