I was looking forward to this one because the story drew me in, but the writing style was terrible. There were so many unnecessary flashbacks that didn’t make any sense, and I have no idea why they were written. The flashbacks stem from a random thought from a main character and they felt so out of place. Almost every single sentence in this book is dialogue, and the story lacks details. Everything in the relationship felt so rushed and it did not seem real at all. The characters were so dull, just like the sensory language and details. This had the ability to be a great book if it wasn’t dialogue heavy, and if the writing improved. This book had such a high stat rating on Goodreads, I feel like I am definitely in the minority of not liking this book☹️

My favorite character changed several times while reading this. Every one is unique in their own right and I realized who I loved all along. 🥰

This book starts off with a bang (no pun intended…or is it 😉) and doesn’t slow down. There is action in every chapter and on nearly every page. The story flows together. The relationships between the characters felt like a family dynamic and the love for each other is strong.

Sooo this book is really 4.5 stars! It’s mafia meets the serial killer killers in Butcher and Blackbird with a whole lot of spice. How It Starts is not for the faint of heart! Definitely a 6 of 5 spicy level here! But aside from those sections, there is a good plot that draws the reader in. I only stopped reading when I had to go to sleep or drive.
There are some definite moments that will sink in to your subconscious and not let go. I have never heard/read the phrase tunnel buddies before. I also will never look at a charcuterie board the same ever again!
If you’re looking for a book with a good plot, intrigue and spice, this is the one for you!

Woah! I loved this so much! If you are looking for a spicy RH/Why Choose with action, MM, & a badass FMC, look no further. Dario, Theo, Soren, and Seven are hot, hot, hot and take care of their girl Reya. This one is a must read!

How It Starts by LG Milton is a fascinating and exciting Mafia romance. This book had me laughing, tearing up, and falling face first for the men, right along with Reya. Seven, 💕 enough said! I literally read this so fast, it was hard to stop. It kept me immersed from start to finish. The plot is incredible, the characters are hard not to love, and the smut was amazing! I'm crossing my fingers and toes that there's more to come! 🤞🤞🤞

There were several times, reading this at work that I was glad I have a poker face and my work colleagues could not tell how spicy the book I was reading. The FMC is amazing and does what she needs to protect her family. I couldn't put it down, was it worth getting in trouble cause I was late getting back from breaks...... yes yes it was

Mafia romances are my favourite kind of smut to read so this one was sold for me!
The author found a way to captivate the reader by creating an air of curiosity to the storyline - who doesn't love a good mystery!
It was an easy read that was hard to put down so naturally I read it within a few days.
Great amount of spice and a few giggles along the way.

Omg this mafia book had me all over the place!! We love a girl boss and this book did not disappoint! The spice, the drama and the twists I was not expecting had me in the edge on of my seat the whole time! There was times that I was giggling and kicking my feet where I shouldn’t have lol! But I will definitely be recommending this book to everyone!!! More please?!

Are you looking for a mafia novel? Mafia romance? Strong FMC? Bodyguards? Secrets? Murder? Stalker? Love? Found family? …. Then congratulations you have found it!!
This novel is absolute freaking mafia perfection. Straight away with Chapter 1 the good stuff lights up the page with Reya and Soren … and it just gets better and better as we progress.
There is a lot that goes on in these pages and it is hard not to give any of the good stuff away with spoilers. This story of Reya and her band of men is stunning. I loved every minute, lived for the next page, obsessed over the characters, swooned for the men (p.s. wait till you meet Theo 🥰), am astonished by Reya’s strength and determination and finally I am head over heels in love with “the boys”.
Let me just say her first board meeting sets the tone for the way she intends to run this mafia family. She is such a badass leader and her men support her in all aspects of the business. Essentially she takes leadership of the mafia by force, overthrowing her husband and then her father. She does this in such spectacular style, and her character is very Jeckyl and Hyde.
On the personal side… holy shiteballs this is some seriously spicy novel. Just when you think it cannot get hotter … it does… it goes to the next level in the most delicious and scorching way. Seven is the leader of this harem pack and damn is he next level 🔥🥵 with domineering Dom tendencies. Theo is our gorgeous driver and is my personal favourite character. Next we find Dario (who shouldn’t be as gorgeous as he is 😉), and finally let’s add in to our sultry blazing hot harem .. Soren.
If you want to be addicted to a story and have it consume your life, and think of nothing else for days whilst reliving certain scenes in your mind 😉😉🔥🥵 you need to read this.

OMG, what a book this was! Really loved the setting and how the female character was really strong and not afraid to fight. I honestly devoured this book within 2/3 days. Also loved the male character 🙂

This book is everything (and more) you could expect from a Mafia Romance except our FMC Reya is the Mafia Boss so the roles are reversed and I fking lovee it!!!!
So Get ready for a good read, I enjoyed the dynamic and friendship with Kalina and Lucia and our side characters that were just as important like Matt and Memphins (I loved that little plot twist)
The MMC´s are just as badass as Reya (and crazy) as they should be, the relationship with everyone involved in the harem it’s just perfect with the 5 different personalities all that male energy, female badass and funny inner monologues 👌
I loved the writing, the different characters and how all of them were portrait, the plot with all the Femme Fatale vibe, and the spice 🥵 I was thanking LG for the fast burn haha
PS: I loveeee charcuterie but trust me I’ll never see it the same (in a good funny way) and seven´s name explanation hahaha I was so stressed reading this part and when 7 explained why I just squeal like a pig 🐽😂

Mafia families, hidden secrets, hidden identities, mysterious deaths. Lots and lots and lots of spice with a female Mafia heiress and her many men who also fool around with each other. Nom nom nom nom nom. And book straight up starts with a spice scene. I mean, what a way to set the tone, lol. And none of it disappoints, it just keeps getting better. The FMC is a total badass. Like will have your jaw dropping going “wait, what” in the best way possible. The men in her life post chapter two are gorgeous and supportive and will gut someone for looking at their lady the wrong way, and who doesn't want that in their fictional lives, right? Our FMC’s best friends are also heirs to different Mafia families and will be getting their own books from their povs in the future. Each book is going to tied in to the others with characters from this book appearing in all the others, but they will all be standalone stories if they makes sense. And I will read them all.

I don't think I can choose a favourite MMC - it swapped constantly! Although Seven and Soren are probably my two main men!!! But then again, this is a RH/ Why Choose? story
This book was full of spice, mafia business, secrets, hot bodyguards, found family, murder, a super strong FMC, a smorgasbord of men and did I mention spice?? There are some scenes that will forever live rent free in my head (and other areas...) The plot was thick - it matched other thick things mentioned in the book........
The was very easy to devour!! I will definitely read this one again and if it ever gets released on audio, it will be HOT!!! (and playing on repeat!)

Best RH Mafia Read, ever!
I love my mafia men, but damn, mafia women are absolutely my new favourite! Reya is truly Goddess Tier level with her badassery, her loyalty to her sestra's and her men and her ability to hand out justice to those who deserve it, in a most beautifully unhinged way. Seven, Theo, Dario and Soren are indeed my new favourite MMCs, as they each bring their own special kind of darkness, love and loyalty (and kinks!) as their Pretty Girl rises through the ranks to the very top. Each character has a dark past, containing dark secrets, but the way they come together (😉) and 100% support eachother, was truly beautiful.
I do love a good RH, where everyone gets some loving, and I certainly wasn't disappointed with this story.
Going to DEVOUR the second one today.

Absolutely brilliant! Strong FMC!! Loved the story,its full of vengeance, bitter sweet moments and the undying heat/spice thats captured throughout the book. The twist, turns & plot soo good different from traditional mafia books ive read and im so happy i read this absolutely amazing.The ending had me! I didnt see that coming,but it made the book so much better. Its definitely a page turner. I've been up the last few night trying to fight sleep just to finish reading it. Can't wait to see what's next!

Mafia. Murder. Sex. Kidnapping. Torture. Wow this book started off very strong with sexual intercourse and murder all in the first 10 pages! The storyline was good but the characters were a bit flat, however that is to be expected with this genre. I enjoyed the strong female lead and her friends throughout the book and it was fairly easy to follow. The different POV throughout the story was nice as it keep the story moving and didn’t really have a “lull.” It was a fun read but some points had me questioning positions and abilities(guess I’m just not creative lol)
Overall, good book. Definitely recommend.

Firstly, I love that the women led mafia, so refreshing! It was an enjoyable story with a lot of potential, but it felt too hectic, fast-paced, and slightly undetailed. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but something just didn’t click for me. There were details, but everything moved from one thing to the next so quickly—it might have been too fast-paced for my taste.
The characters also came together so quickly that it felt a bit weird and unrealistic. It's honestly impressive how fast they fell for each other, but it didn’t really resonate with me. I think the writing style just wasn’t it for me. Still enjoyed reading it though.

This book was a slow start for me. But once I got about 20 percent of the book. I flew through it. This book is "very Mafia" because I enjoyed the world that was created. The FMC is a spit fire and I enjoyed her as a MC. Be prepared for lots of spice! I love spice and I felt there was enough for my taste. It kept me wanting to keep reading. I felt this book kept me "well fed" in that department. I look forward to more works from this author. I'm a fan!

I found myself thinking about this book all the time. I couldn't wait until I could pick this book up again. Reya is strong woman who did what she had to to survive. She didn't like how her father treated her as well as her husband. He never loved her. So once she did what she did she made sure she was happy by adding in more and more partners. This was a great polyamory story i would definitely recommend
