TJ’s future has been mapped out from the moment he was born. Senior has molded TJ into his image and expected him to follow in his footsteps. That meant graduating at the top of his class in law school, passing the bar, and working side by side with his dad at the Addison Law Firm. Unfortunately, the pressure to become the perfect prodigy and not living up to Senior’s expectations just became too much for TJ and he suffered a mental breakdown. He’s spent the last six years in therapy trying to find his own identity outside of Torrence Addison Sr. while isolating himself from his family.

Indi has been stuck in a 10-year relationship with her drug addict boyfriend. She and Jarvis have been together since they were teenagers so, walking away from the relationship is not that easy for her. It takes a conversation with her grandmother for Indi to finally see it’s okay to let go. “His choices are not your burdens to bare. That season has come to an end. It’s time for your flowers to bloom. His soul is stuck in the dead of Winter, your soul is eager for Spring.” You betta come through with that good word Gram!

Although TJ is making strides in therapy to get healthy mentally and take back control of his life, he was merely existing until he met Indi. With Indi, he finally wants to live and start experiencing life again. Together, they’re both learning to put themselves first without feeling guilty and do what’s best for each other. What stood out about this book was the realism of the storyline. The dynamics of TJ’s story was empowering but, also very relatable. His healing journey could easily be someone’s reality. I thought the author did a phenomenal job displaying mental health struggles on page. She gave us a complete picture of the MMC dealing with and overcoming severe depression. Informed Consent was a great read. The character development and subject matter were outstanding. I truly enjoyed watching the MMC’s transformation, growth, and healing. TJ’s HEA was well deserved.

I liked them 🥰! TJ and Indi were both not in a space to find love but somehow love found them. TJ is finally 6 years after a very traumatic life experience where he is encouraged to try a pressure point massage as a form of therapy and his masseuse is none other than Indi. Indi meets her new client TJ after a rough morning of dealing with her ex who can’t let go. Her loyalty to him has been to her detriment and she trying to start new. When Indi and TJ encounter it’s an instant connection for us readers while Indi and TJ have a bit more time with that realization. A lot of of ups, and downs, and just enjoying the moment on the journey to love with TJ and Indi. Also a lot of healing! I enjoyed the evolution of their characters as they both let go of the hurt of their past to be better for themselves and to love/be with one another. It was a beautiful read! I’m not sure which book I enjoyed more but this was a solid series! I wouldn’t be mad if Saylor got her book to close the series out too! Overall great story! I did enjoy this read via audio and the narrators were Vance Goodwin ( a growing favorite) and Taryn Henry.

Bravo!! Bravo!! Amazing story!!

Bravo! Round of applause! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

K.C. Mills…..you did an outstanding job with this one!

TJ was a man who unbeknownst to those that loved him, found himself at war with himself that led to an almost fatal conclusion. TJ demonstrates to us that the one’s we love and whom appear to have it all together, may very well be suffering in silence.

He was groomed as a young boy to be his father’s prodigy, but at what cost?

K.C. Mills delivers a powerful story of a black man trying to find balance after suffering from severe depression and anxiety for many years.

TJ’s journey was handled with extreme care. We had a front row seat to all of TJ’s thoughts, emotions, confusion, even his highs and lows.

TJ found himself merely only existing until he met the beautiful Indira. These two and their journey together was absolutely beautiful. It is so refreshing to read a story about two tortured souls without the struggle love.

Their relationship was a slow progression. It felt so realistic! TJ anxieties and worries about exploring a relationship with a woman, was not glossed over at all. We were consistently reminded of his struggles. She painted such a vivid picture of these struggles. KC’s use of imagery and attention to detail showed us TJ’s boundaries, comfort level, confusion; his physical and nonverbal cues were explicit.

I loved me some Indi! With all of his flaws and struggles, she still respected TJ as a man. She followed his lead, went at his pace. Indi is the prototype of we should pursue love and care for someone with mental health struggles. Her patience was unmatched. Their vulnerability and mutual respect and safe handling of each other’s emotions was everything!!

I could go on all day about this story!!

The character development was flawless. The storyline and plot was handled with care.

This story was not hot and heavy with sex scenes, but the high level of chemistry and the anticipation of where their story ends was off the charts!!

This is a must read!!! This is one of my favorite stories of 2022. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

A good read...

I didn't really have any expectations for TJ's story as he seemed to be so shut off in the first book of this series. I was pleasantly surprised with the path his story took and the themes that it explored. TJ was sexy, sweet, strong and broken... gotta love him.

Both TJ and Indi were complex, broken characters who were perfect for each other. It was such a joy reading their story as their friendship progressed.

It was also great to catch up with Skylar and Gray. Sailor is still a trip and I'm looking forward to her story.

Another good read from Ms. Mills. 4⭐s Highly Recommend.

I absolutely loved this book! It kept me hooked from start to finish. I really appreciated the different perspectives; it gave me a better understanding of what some people go through when they face depression. The storytelling was so vivid that I felt a real connection. I also adored how supportive the siblings were of T.J. and how Grams was always there for Indie. The way everything came together at the end was like watching a movie in my mind. Fantastic job, Ms. Mills!

Long Review. Sorry y’all 😭.
Thank you to the author for the ARC copy of this book.

I patiently waited for the details concerning TJ and as usual, K C Mills did not disappoint. A series of unfortunate events led TJ to therapy hoping to find his identity. Therapy in-turn led him to Indira where he experienced a feeling that was foreign to him. This is when the healing starts. As I started reading, TJ’s journey of rebuilding and gaining control consumed me. I identify with TJ because he paints a realistic view of how we suffer when our life is created based off the expectations of others and not ourselves. He also reminded me that life is meant to live and not just exist. The author didn’t hesitate to give the reader a complete picture of a person living with severe depression in a way that wasn’t overwhelming or harmful.

“It’s time for your flowers to bloom. His soul is stuck in the dead of Winter, your soul is eager for Spring.”

I loved TJ and Indie together. They are both are learning to detach from the demands of others while focusing on living and doing what’s best for themselves . I loved their understanding of each other’s past and the need to move forward in a healthy manner. While this story didn’t give detailed sex scenes, you definitely got a dose of the thick chemistry and the couples inability to keep their hands of each other. I loved the fact that two damaged souls came together and created something beautiful.

“In order for you to trust yourself with Indi and her with you, then Informed Consent is necessary. Have you told her everything?”

I felt this quote was necessary concerning this story because it’s shows how being open and honest with your partner can aid in building a healthy and happy relationship. It’s best to lay all your cards on the table and give your partner the opportunity to make the decision to continue to love and support you based on all your truths. Kc Mills laid it all on the table with this story and it’s one of my top reads of the year. The character development is amazing and gives us an astounding depiction of redemption after mistakes. There definitely is life after the storm if you are open to believe it and work for it. This is an amazing story and I recommend reading.

TJ x Indi 🥰😍🥰

When I tell you guys, this story was absolutely beautiful. It warmed my heart. TJ was such a beautiful soul. Depression left him almost this empty shell of a person. But the way the author construed his story…it was a masterpiece. I loved being inside TJ's head while he was on his healing journey. The therapy sessions were AMAZING.
The beginning of TJ and Indi was almost a slow burn and it was perfect for them because they both had some major, extreme healing to do. The way TJ pursued Indi was the entire book imo. She was so patient, soo understanding and the perfect girl for TJ. The author delivered something absolutely amazing with this story. Sailor, TJ's sister was the scene stealer in this book. The MVP. Everything scene was in left you laughing or grinning really hard. Loved her and cannot wait for her story. This was a beautiful story of healing, reconciliation, and love. Each one done so beautifully. I highly recommend this series. This author is an amazing storyteller. My only issue with her is editing. But this one is much, much, much better than the previous installment in terms grammar and spelling errors, so, most definitely get into this series.

A tough story, a good read

The story was detailed, exasperating, and a perfectly good tale about finding the right balance in life. When I started the story and when I finished were two different points of view. I did not know what to think about TJ. His initial reaction to Indi was strange. Some parts in the telling of this story kept me seeking more. I needed answers.
Once TJ and Indi figured out their surreal dynamics, it was easier to navigate their intense attraction. Stick with this one; it's a good read.

I quickly fell in love with this story! TJ is one of my favorite characters ever! I admired his strength and willingness to do the hard word of healing! On a personal level I appreciated his highs and lows because I know someone who also struggles with depression! Excellent writing!

It was OK. Maybe I just don’t like the insecure MC but I didn’t like the chemistry either or even the storyline granted there was some shockers in there, but other than that, it was a no.

I loved TJs evolution and Indi is my girl. She felt very secure even in her own insecurities and it was such a good compliment to TJ and all that he had to deal with. Life in general gave them enough problems so the ease of which they accepted each other was good. I could’ve taken a tad more angst considering the obstacles they were working to overcome but it definitely wasn’t necessary. The growth arcs were still really good—especially if you read book 1 and got your glimpse of TJ.

Per usual I read this series out of order and I must say Sailor is still my favorite but that’s just to say the series got better with each book which is its own feat!

I adore TJ!

He was introduced in book 1, I was curious then and had a good feeling about him. Because of book 1, I knew his background and the distance between him and his family. While there was a bit more to it, the story doesn’t dwell there.

He and Indi were almost one and the same. Both have been carried some heaviness and needed their own support. Their person. Talk about a well paired couple. I adored them both, I wanted to hug both of them for different reasons.

Guess I’m going to finish the series and read Sail’s story next; with her wild a**.

I thought this book was done with care and consideration when dealing and talking about mental illnesses. Depression and anxiety can be so debilitating. I loved watching Tj grow and open himself up for love again. Therapy wasnt looked down on in this book it was welcomed and nourished. Indi needed TJ just as much as he needed her. The two were healing souls made for each other.

I must say I enjoyed this. It was a change to so much of the MMCs story and the growth we saw in TJ loved it. TJ and Indi were a good example of people just growing maturing together and figuring things out in a healthy way. Communication was pretty good. Informed consent indeed. Some parts were a bit of a drag but overall I enjoyed it.

K.C. is one of my faves! I enjoyed reading about TJ and Indi. TJ was still portrayed as a man despite his mental health. I loved that Indi didn’t shy away from him, and instead saw their similarities as well as their potential together. Can’t wait for Sailor’s story next!

A solid look into the effects of depression and the work it takes to overcome. At times the messaging felt a bit prescriptive. The romance plot was cringy and unfortunately did not move me as much as book one.

Decided to DNF @ 40%.

I know this one had so much potential to be a great story if I just pushed through, but right now my mind simply doesn’t want to. As selfish as it may sound, I don’t like to read about severe mental health issues when I’m in a good space.

Great storyline. Maybe I should’ve read the book versus listening to the audiobook. Difficult listening to the male character and his level of insecurity. Once getting past that….it was better.

Whew!! I finally finished this book and I’m mad at MYSELF for taking so long because babyyyy this was such a cute but low-key intense love story! 🤭

TJ had my whole heart. 🥰Being the oldest kid in a “we got money” family and carrying everybody’s expectations on your back?? Chile… I felt stressed FOR him. 🤨😩

And Indi? Oh I LOVED that girl! 🤗The way she came into TJ’s life like, “Nah, we’re gonna heal, communicate, and get your life together”… Queen behavior only! 👑😌

The family dynamics were messy, loud, dramatic, and honestly, real life. And as always, the Addison siblings had me cracking up. Polar opposites but somehow still LOVE and ride for each other!🥰

My FAVORITE thing though? The way this book said loud and clear:
• you can actually be DONE with your ex
• like… 👉🏾DONE done.🤨

They stood on business, stayed respectful, and didn’t let those exes spin the block…even when the exes were acting delusional. 😒🤭🤣

10/10 recommend. Cute, grown, a little chaotic, and had me smiling the whole time!

TJ is so cute. I love how his ego pops in on occasions throughout the storyline. I believe the storyline could have been a little bit stronger. On some of the more specific details, but overall, I still thoroughly enjoyed. This book wasn't as funny as the first one and definitely probably won't be as funny as sailor's story which I can't wait to get to. Because she's a whole mess, but overall enjoyable read.

I enjoyed TJ’s story but it did fall a little flat in some areas. The writing in this one was very dense compared to Skylar’s story. I did really enjoy seeing him become a better version of himself from his rock bottom . His and Indi’s story was cute but nothing to write home about. I also loved TJ repairing his familial relationships as well and letting go of the anger he held towards his father. Very much looking forward to Sailor’s story next!
