Finances forced Sara Carpenter onto husband Matt's fishing boat as a deckhand; the sensual nights are a wicked bonus. In a secluded cove, their steamy interlude is interrupted by Russian smugglers. Caught in a running fight for their lives, they face murderous smugglers, the dangers of the open sea, and their passion for each other.
So... I got this book as part of a bundle from storybundle.com... I wasn't sure about it, but figured that I should at least try reading it to see. First off it was well written with few typos. I did finish the book and even read the little bonus story after it which tells what happens to the couple after the end of the book. But I never really connected with the characters. The book starts off with the wife throwing a major hissy fit, but I couldn't figure out exactly why. And then they go straight into a sexual frenzy.
And that kinda describes the whole book (not the hissy fit part, the wife gets her act together for the rest of the story) Something happens that isn't sex, then there's a sex scene. Don't get me wrong, I like a good romance, it's just once again something seemed a little off - these people have been married for 5 years and are described as being really hot and heavy for each other the whole time, but then we are told that the wife has never initiated sex?!?! Sorry, makes no sense for me - not the way these two go after each other. At first I thought I had misread something, but then it's stated again later...
There were a few other inconsistencies which I felt happened strictly to make the story a little more "exciting."
And one other thing that I can't decide if I liked or not. The author uses correct names for genitalia: she strokes his p*nis, he enters her v*gina, he rubs her cl*toris, etc (wasn't sure if it would be okay to write those out in my rating) On one hand it's kinda cool to have them named correctly, it's not like they're bad words... On the other hand reading them during a love scene totally jolted me out of the story...
