yeah sure why not i'll put this in my LGBTQ shelf. its not actually canonically gay i dont want to be queerbaiting in this review. but also this shit is insane.
THISSS! THIS WAS THE BEST VOLUME FOR ME SO FAR BY FARRRR!! (And no I'm not just saying that because Beldaruit got multiple name cameos and One face cameo and he happens to be my favorite WHA character. No siree bob.)
This volume gave me the bit of chapter-plot texture that I felt was lacking from the last volume, and we even got a few more cameos from some familiar faces that felt really refreshing! I also liked that they referenced from events from WHA that helped me kind of place where on the timeline these spinoff stories happen. It helped the whole volume feel a little more substantive and grounded, in my opinion.
I also just particularly liked all of the things we cooked and created in this volume!! My favorite chapter was the liqueur chapter, where Qifrey and Olly do some at-home boozing and then Qifrey makes the girls an "sorry you're too young to drink" syrupy fruit cocktail. It just looked like so much fun, it really made me want to try making my own liqueur too!!
I loved the girls' dried fruit escapades (I totally get the feeling of being a kid and finally learning how to make some food, and wanting to make it over and over again from that point on) as well as their little jelly crystal fun. The food selection was just really fun and great in this, nothing too mundane but nothing too crazy either -- all stuff I felt like I could make myself if I wanted! It really added to the homey and cozy vibe of this.
I really enjoyed myself this volume! I'm really sad that volume 5 is the last one because I thought this series was still ongoing!!! :( I'm going to be sad when I finish it up, because I really do think that as far as food/cooking manga go, this one is a very good, whether or not you're a fan of the original Witch Hat Atelier!! It's quite an accomplishment and I'm really enjoying it.
Sweet and fluffy cookbook that doubles as a manga. And vice versa.
There isn't really much to review. If you've read books 1-3, then you'll already know what this one will be like. Reality-based foods that have been turned into fantasy foods and prepared as meals. There's a little character development thrown in as well.
Still wish it were in color since black and white doesn't make the food more interesting at all, only if the shapes had been changed. They keep saying how this is pretty, or that is pretty, but it just looks like food. If they mention something is a different color than you can imagine what it looks like, but it would be nice to SEE it.
Anyway, if you enjoyed books 1-3, you'll like this. It's safe for any age group with no triggers, curse words, romance, or anything like that. Just two guys teaching four little girls how to be witches while making a bunch of meals and snacks.
The coziness of reading the spinoff Kitchen series to Witch Hat Atelier is a mix of the comforts of food and the fun of the witchy apprentice girls and their guides who put together delightful spreads to celebrate achievements or welcome new foods that have grown around their atelier.
It's like a warm cup of tea to stop and read one of the books.
I never get tired of reading these books filled with magical ingredients and delightful side stories featuring some of my favorite manga characters. There is still a focus on teaching the girls about the ingredients and making cooking fun. I’m looking forward to the next installment!

They’re husbands, They're fathers. They are fathers and husbands.

It's a very cute domestic series. Doing food arts and crafts with the kids and not pressuring them to eat food they dislike. I also find this series to inspire me with the foods they make. Not all are hits, but combinations do bring to mind things I can make. Definitely a series I would even reread because of that. Also it pulls me through waiting for the main series to publish.
These are cute. And while it wasn’t in this I’ve been thinking about buying some saffron for a while for a few things. I’m inspired to try a few different dishes.
