The next books of the series! The One Who Changes the Future (Book #2): The One Who Changes the Future (Book #3):
I’ve traveled back twenty-two years to rewrite the future and stop the nightmare threatening Earth. An apocalypse looms, promising total annihilation. No one will be spared. Now the weight of the world rests on my shoulders; I'm the one tasked with changing everything.
I have come back to the past, and in five days, on the twenty-sixth of April, the day of reckoning will arrive. The event that will happen will be known as the Eclipse in the future. It will divide the history of the Solar System into a before and after.
It’s time to rewrite history. To transform the present. To forge a new future.
I got this one as an ARC. I check how the translation from Russian to English went. How smooth the story flows. I report any mistakes that I find, but I'm a horrible speller myself and know I don't find them all. I enjoyed this story enough that after reading the ARC I grabbed a copy when it came out on KU. Also because I had forgotten the title of that ARC. (Just trying to be honest.😁) So this book got a second read from me. It happens sometimes when you read as much as I do.
9/10 Looking forward to book two. I personally think some of the best litrpg comes out of Russia.
Great Story. Irritating characters. I don't understand why the author wrote so many of protagonist's party members as being so despicable. *I'm confused*
It is like reading the LitRPG/GameLit version of "Lord of the Flies".
The leader of the party is perfect. The African is wise and mature. The oldest female is mature and professional.
However, the others totally suck. One party guy is a loudmouth who yells out frequently while surrounded by hostiles in a combat zone. So, much for sneaking up on your prey?! One girl is completely selfish and power hungry. She will throw anyone under the bus to get brownie points and money from her clan. ...and finally, another female party member is the most annoying, naive, thumb sucking pacifist that I have ever read about in a story.
Why make main characters that your readers will despise????
I received a review copy of this book. The One Who Changes The Future is the first book in a series that is your typical time rewind story in the beginning, but it becomes so much more. Loved this story, and I'm looking forward to more in this series. If you're a fan of these kinds of stories, you'll want to add this one to your to read list immediately, it's well worth the read.
Another 2nd chance plot. I liked that actions have consequences that can alter the time line and that the protagonist doesn't shy away from drastic measures when needed..
The little monkey was a nice little touch!
I am looking forward to reading the next book!
Criticism and comments:
The protagonist is a bit too well connected for my taste and his first follower is really annoying as he is a loud mouth and keeps yelling at the most idiotic times.
I like the blood purity dynamic and the balance between the regular world and the one filled with monsters. The time travel bit informed the MC, but I'm glad that it doesn't take over the story. The MC travels in powerful circles but isn't strong enough to dominate (yet). Well balanced and interesting with combat that doesn't drag on.
As I read books from different authors from around the world. It introduces me to different cultural mindsets. This story has Asian family concepts and the MC's, way of handling the struggles of changes to his perception of history that is full of potholes and not cheesy, great job to the author.
I really liked this book. On one hand, it's a rather typical regression story. On the other hand, it's a compelling story with (mostly) well fleshed out characters. It's well worth the read.
An interesting version on going back in time to help humanity, our main protagonist is a very interesting mix of Asian and slav decent and has a very interesting and convuleted story, we'll worth a read as I'm onto book two.
Such a creative and interesting story! I love a smart main character and you definitely get that with this book. A lot of twists and turns that keep you interested! I wish it was on Audible. I loved it! Can’t wait for the next one!
This was great. The physics based magic system was a refreshing twist. The world building was extremely well done as well. Can’t wait to see where the story goes.
I quit a third of the way in. The timing is terrible, and the premise is weak. The actions of the main character are from a reactionary child, not a strategic adult. The entire thing is very poorly written.
