I felt so ripped off from purchasing this book that it compelled me to create a goodreads account and write a review. Most of the Amazon reviews are clearly planted or paid for. Several stories and ideas are directly repeated throughout the book. It reads similar to a college level paper and is just as boring. There is a lot of quoting studies and just throwing a quick opinion in after without adding any depth or new ideas. Some of the book is just directly referencing other books and the ideas from them. There are a lot of good self help books out there, but this is not one. Save your money, it’s a $20-30 paperback book that is DOUBLE SPACED, with multiple obvious typos and writing errors.

This book comes off as a semi-coherent mash up of an autobiography, a biography of the authors brother, a free thought exercise the author used to deal with second hand trauma, and tidbits of disjointed information all wrapped in an unedited and rough form document. While it has great intentions, the lack of cohesion displayed throughout makes reading it challenging and impossible to apply any information to your life.

If I hadn’t committed to a reading challenge requiring me to finish each book I start I would have quit by page 10. It was, by far, the most painful book reading experience I think I have ever had.

This book gives real inspiration to stay strong and focused. The author explains how to build mental strength and keep calm under pressure. I liked the personal stories and easy steps to follow. It helped me see challenges in a new way and push forward with more confidence.

Honest, Grounding, and Easy to Relate To
This book made me realize how much I push myself without rest. The idea that recovery is strength, not weakness, really changed my mindset. I’ve started slowing down a bit — and, surprisingly, I get more done. Honest, grounding, and worth reading.
