Step into the darkness with this heart-pounding tale of exorcism and horror. Nashville, Tennessee is about to be rocked to its core as the Rev. Matthew Cornell sets out to perform a minor exorcism at a local bar. But when his ritual goes wrong and he is witnessed by Jessica Kelley, an accidental onlooker, he finds himself in the middle of a battle for survival.

Jessica is drawn to Matthew and his abilities, and together with private detective Charlie Snodgrass, she sets out to uncover the truth. But when Charlie becomes possessed by the demon Matthew was trying to exorcise, a deadly game of cat and mouse begins. With Jessica's horrifying premonitions becoming a reality, and the body-count rising, Matthew must take her into the sanctuary of his Non-Denominational church to keep her safe.

As the police begin their own hunt for Charlie, they soon realize that the demon inside him is too powerful to be stopped by traditional means. With his friend and youth minister Deacon at his side, Matthew sets out to save Jessica and put an end to the demonic terror once and for all. In a final showdown, Matthew must use his own blood to amplify his exorcism abilities and banish the demons from Charlie's body.

This is a story of faith, friendship, and the fight between good and evil. With twists and turns that will leave you gasping for breath, "Ordained” is a haunting tale of fear and the power of the supernatural.

I literally read this book in one sitting. I really enjoyed this story and how it touched on demonic activity and how it is commonplace. Rev Matthew is not your typical pastor. Yes, he has been chosen by God for a particular purpose and has been ordained with the authority to recognize evil and cast out demons. Rev Matthew is what most bible thumpers would call unorthodox because he doesn't fit into the religious box that holy rollers try to place believers of God in. Rev Matthews meet people where they are without judgement unlike most Christians.

When an exorcism goes sideways Rev Matthew, his Protector & Youth Pastor Deacon and a young woman by the name of Jessica who has been caught in the middle of this evil catastrophe is thrown into a game of cat and mouse trying to track down an evil entity that unbeknownst to them has taken up residency in an unsuspecting, manipulative private investigator who is out for revenge.

Ritualistic violence is plaguing the streets of Nashville with a legion of demons that are growing in strength each passing day. Rev. Matthew has to work fast and dig deep within himself if he has any chance to rid the city of the malevolent entity that is wreaking havoc. It will take an immense amount of holy power to defeat the legion that he is up against, but Rev Matthew has an ace in the hole and that is his unwavering faith and obedience in the Almighty.

I just barely made it through this, this writing style and characters remind me of a high schooler who thinks they need to be all cool and aloof. Don’t act like you care about anything except for your creative writing class. I mean Every outfit is described, words such as smoothly, slyly, delicately, show up over and over again.
The premise intrigued me but the author’s style hasn’t made it out Senior Year English class.

Loved this debut novel! As an avid reader and writer, I found it fast paced, well written and it kept me on the edge of my seat for the entire ride. Deacon is my favorite character, but I love Matthew as well. Wasn't a huge fan of the FMC, but I think she was written to not be very likable on purpose. I look forward to seeing more from this author.

Great book! Matthew is not your ordinary reverend. He's hot, sexy and can exorcize demons with the touch of his hand. Watkins does a great job developing characters, Deacon, Matthew's best friend, is my favorite.

Watkins really knocks his debut novel out of the park with this supernatural thriller. His mind works in wonderfully deviant ways as he takes us on an adventure through the demonic darkness that encases the city of Nashville.
