They met on eBay. He was buying. She was selling. Gabby is thrilled when she receives her asking price for one
of her signature portraits, an angel in chains. But what begins as a few casual emails quickly becomes erotic, the
flames of carnal desire scorching red hot. The last thing she expected was to become part of the package. Erik,
an American soldier stationed in Iraq wants more than anything to unlock the woman inside. She blazes a fire inside
of him greater than the explosion of any missiles, any round of bullets he has to dodge in the god-forsaken sandbox
he’s sitting in. From the pits of hell he’s found his angel, and he’s coming home to claim her.

Eric is stationed in Iraq, he buys one of Gabbys photographs at an online auction and they end up hitting it of big time. It has the makings of a love story of soul mate proportions. Even though he is lead to believe she is married. But Gabby is really a widow, but it's so traumatic for her that she can't bring herself to tell Eric. I really liked the first part of the story, their email correspondance, phone sexing and quickly connecting on more levels than one.
But then the plausible story wears thin. Eric apparently this seriously experienced Dom suddenly meets a fellow soldier who's very blonde (attractive), Gabby finds it impossible to tell him the truth although several oppotunities presents itself all the while they get physically involved. Oh and suddenly Gabby is attracted to another Dom while she claims Eric is her whole world. Very confusing and not to accommodating for the sweet hot romance story. So my conclusion... Starts out good but ends in a totally different corner where it seems like the author suddenly had to have a menage and an Dom totally squashing a newfound submissive before professing his undying love. Hmm not sure, but three stars for the first half at the least. Would have liked to see more of that from the author.

This book is a reissue of Chained Melodies: An Unfamiliar Scene, and it is that edition that I read.

Anyone who understands the true nature of the lifestyle will thoroughly enjoy this book. I find it laughable when I read Dom-sub stories that think its all about the tying up, the spankings, blind folds, a Dom who orders his sub around like she's dirt, but this story tells it more like it is. This story is totally believable and grabs you from the very first page. I laughed, cried, got angry. It was if I knew them and was a part of their world. Gabby is a strong and beautiful woman who is only learning about her submissive nature. Erik is the man who adores her, yes a Dom, but he is what every woman wants in a dominant male, firm but loving, insistent but aware...and the sex in this book...yikes. I thought I might go up in flames! I don't think I've ever read phone, or rather internet sex written so steamy! Secondary characters are also well developed and I found myself wanting to know more about them. Jack in particular. Erik's best friend and another Dom is hot, hot, hot. I hope Ms. Whiting gives him his own story.
