This book explores how to be brave when standing up for the environment. After a brief overview of the topic, the book pairs notable environmental activists with step-by-step guides for how kids can take action. My review will be live on my blog - donnasbookblog on 1 January 2025 - publication day!

I thought that this book was great!

The book has a lot of information and it covers quite a few different topics within the subject of the Environment, including Environmental Activists, Climate Change and Extinction including some of the people that have been pioneers and leaders in this area including David Attenborough and Greta Thunberg, who have both been very successful in highlighting the plight of the planet, and the various animal species within it.

There is a great glossary at the back of the book to expand on some of the words used which is a great touch for kids. The book is well written, it is well laid out and easy to follow. The illustrations in the images used in the book are great and help to break up the text too. It is a great book to use as an introduction that can then be used to look further in to the different areas.

It is 4.5 stars from me for this one, rounded up to 5 stars for Goodreads and Amazon - highly recommended!

A few champions of the environment here, from Greta and Sir David Attenborough to Wangari Maathai, who encouraged the reforestation of Kenya. As the 'my name is Brave' badge says, it's not here to teach ecology as such, but what makes someone successful in this field – and so we get the most basic of tips on public speaking, documentary film planning and charity forming. It's not too bad, as even if it is the obvious examples that are chosen once again it does have the potential to inspire someone to follow in their footsteps. It's colourful, it's quickly-read, it pretty much knows what it's doing – so it's a slightly different spin on things that certainly makes this worth a look.
