Eric Khemeia has all the wrong kind of luck. First his boss at the burger joint fires him, then on the way home he slips on a railing and accidentally kills himself trying to save a woman from drowning.
But it doesn't end there, he awakens in a strange place to an angry 'goddess' that berates him for screwing up her clever plan to unite him with his soul mate.
Was this the end for Eric? Had he ruined his one shot at happiness with the girl of his dreams?
Absolutely not. There was no way he was going out like that.
Through wits and pluck Eric negotiates reincarnation on a new world. That's if the less than competent 'goddess' can enter the right commands on her computer and not turn him into a frog or worse.
Success!
He makes it to his new world intact, mostly, and heads to his class ceremony where he will learn what kind of power he will wield in a land of magic and monsters. But an inadvertent wish during the ceremony marks him for death and at his father's behest he makes a hasty retreat out of town.
Follow Eric, as he tries to avoid execution, or causing a civil war, while studying for his alchemy guild test and learning how to live with and love a cat woman without rubbing her the wrong way.
There is mild spice in this book as well as non-standard relationships. If you aren't interested in those please pass this book by.
I write and self-publish what I like to read. My books, with some exceptions, are more about slice-of-life moments. My MCs are kind, strong, and loyal; but aren't interested in conquest or becoming rulers. They simply want to have an adventure or two while making their part of the world the best it can be —all in the company of a good woman or three.
When I first saw this title and book description, I thought it sounded pretty good. Then I read all the reviews and saw people wondering why in a book labeled “Devine alchemist” there was barely any alchemy. That, unfortunately, is true. About 1% of the book has the character doing alchemy. The rest is him talking with his girlfriends and f*cking. What makes it better, is that near the end, his girlfriends actually complain and say he does too much alchemy and not enough f*cking and he should stop doing that. And the mc agrees. So I will not be reading the second book. If you’re looking for a book about alchemy, this is not it. If you’re looking for a book about raunchiness, this is not it. It is all done behind the scenes and between chapters. Overall, this has been a disappointing experience.
As a fellow author, I'm going to say that I am guilty of some of these things, so by no means am I trying to knock this book. I think the idea was great, it reminded me of being inside a videogame. This author definitely has an imagination, and I really enjoyed diving into a book that was so different than what I normally read. It was very funny at times, and I found myself laughing out loud. The characters were okay, I feel like they could have been fleshed out more, along with the worldbuilding. The pace and transitions felt a bit rushed to me and the dialogue did not feel natural. I do not have a thing for weak men, but I realize he needs to level up to become more powerful and able to protect the women in his life. All in all, it was an okay read for me 😃
The MC is pretty beta. Sure he has power, but his actions around women screen beta. Other than that, it not LitRPG, its not about alchemy, it was rather boring.
I tried. I managed to read the first 40 pages or so before I had to give up. Somersault should be spelled “summersault”. The author wrote reigns for reins, fowl for foul, suiters for suitors, and tisking for tsking. Page after page has either run on sentences or sentences fragments. Surely his computer is at least capable of running grammar check?
