Captivating. Exhilarating. Thought-provoking.
Between Human Hearts. Wow, what a marvelous book. There are some books that you never want to stop reading. This is that book for me. I wish there were words to describe my love for this book. It broke me and put me back together with every page. It is raw and vulnerable. It is magical and so very special. Each chapter made me feel like I was reading a whole new book while also being so concise in the story line as a whole. There are poems that are etched into my brain and heart forever. There are poems that I will come back to for the rest of my life because they are so engrained into me. This book taught me so much about myself, it made me look in the mirror and ask “who am I?”, “what type of person do I want to be?”, “what type of friend do I want to be?”, “what type of connections do I want to foster with those around me?”

It made me think of human connection and how our world is immersed into this vast digital age. A digital age where you can form a connection at the click of buttons on your phone. And while those connections through the digital are important, we can’t forget about the connections in the physical. Our connections with friends, co-workers, family, the people we pass in the grocery store or on the street.

When I think of Between Human Hearts, my first thought is that it is a gift to our world that everyone needs to read. It is a book that is about the world we are living in now and our future world.

From the very first page, you are reeled in by the authors words that are so seamless and eloquent. The words are worlds that you are becoming apart of. With each poem, you are fascinated by how the author can string words together that leave you in awe because of their beauty.

I wish that I could read it again for the first time so I can feel what I felt all over. It’s everything and more. If there is any book that I think you should read, it’s this one. It opened my heart to a whole new world and it will yours. There is nothing better.
