To get back his former life, Father Black must return to where it all started.
Blackmailed by the mysterious Honos Group, the only way for him to break free is to track them down, starting with the surviving members of his original Iraqi unit…all tied to Honos. Surely, one of them can shed some light on the group.
But do they want to be found? And is he prepared to kill to discover a decade old secret?
As the hunt begins, a series of unexplained power outages cripple parts of the United States and, as the net tightens, his personal mission becomes a desperate race to save the entire country.
If he can’t take down Honos, everyone becomes prey.
Page-turning action and stunning revelations ensure that Take Down wraps up The Honos Trilogy with a bang and a body count.
Wow! What a fantastic ending to Father Black’s Honos trilogy! The action rarely stops. There are so many twists and turns, and a few jaw dropping side dramas, one of which is extremely cringey, but oh, so satisfying! Williams has hinted at a return of Father Black and crew and I can’t wait to find out where they go next.
The Father Black Series: Take Down, #3 - Each book gets better and this one ends with the possibility of another book to this trilogy. Picking up where Going Dark ends, the well written, entertaining story lines filled with action, humor and surprises make it hard to put the book down. The characters and the constant pace add to this intriguing closure. Source: The Author. 15*
Mission Black - Absolutely one of the best books I have read recently in any genre. I was completely mesmerized by the intriguing, intense story lines, the three, actually, four awesome characters if you consider the "Organization" a character, and the continuous pace.
Of course, vigilantism is a favorite theme for me, and having a Catholic priest as a reluctant vigilante makes an interesting formula. Added to the mix, plenty of good humor and two female characters worth their weight in gold. The other characters were a good variety of types. Of course, the darkness of Black's dilemma weighs on him and he works with God to solve his troubles.
There was a bit of British English here and there that brought out a giggle or two. Minimal cursing. If you have read The Old Farts Club by Mr. Williams, or any of his other books in other genres, or David Putnam's Bruno Johnson series, you will definitely enjoy this new series by Mr. Williams. 5*
Going Dark, #2 - This story picks up a week after Mission Black ends. It is steady nonstop action, with intense story lines and great characters. Interesting, intriguing, immersing entertainment that makes you frown when the last page is read, you want more. Source: The author. 5* The Father Black Series end.

This series just gets better and better! Father Black is the most brilliant character. Talk about going from one extreme to the other with his career choices. I love it! Take Down sees him being blackmailed by the Honos Group. No-one knows who is running the show though, so he’s left with no choice but to return to where it all started and find out for himself. I can only imagine how conflicted he must feel when making some of the decisions he is faced with in this situation. This book is full of action and exceptional characters who you can’t help but love but would most definitely not want to get on the wrong side of. It’s full of suspense and tension. Each chapter ensures you need to read the next one. Considering the level of violence involved in this story it has its fair share of humour too. I love Emmy and her relationship with Father Black. Or lack of, much to her disappointment. She amuses me in her persistence, and I admire his ability to resist. It’s just brilliant writing! I can’t recommend it highly enough. Selfishly I hope this isn’t the end of Father Black’s adventures, although for him I hope he gets some peace for a while at least 😉 If you’re new to this series, I highly recommend that you read book one first….
Take Down has been out for a while but this was essentially a review copy the author gave me so I could catch up and read an actual ARC (Advance Review Copy) of his upcoming 4th Father Black adventure, Kill List. Watch for that one soon.
In the meantime, Take Down features usual suspects Father Connor Black, Emmy, Lyn and Jonas, joined by Jordan, a champion cage fighter who was part of the fateful mission a decade past that gave the mysterious Honos Group their stranglehold on Black.
I enjoyed reading this story much for the same reasons I gave the previous two books good reviews: Williams packs his stories with interesting characters shooting and blowing things up while bad guys enrich themselves and commit grand crimes almost exclusively through the aid of blackmailed expert labor. In Take Down, we also get some bonus background on the inevitably red-dressed arms expert Emmy. Bombs away! (And not just the explodey kind!)
The only drawback I found with Take Down is that it lacked much of the tension introduced in the complicated and intense book 2, Going Down. By contrast, Father Black and crew seem to sail relatively smoothly from start to finish, the occasional bathroom girl fight about the biggest impediment to discovering and reaching their goals. It's a minor complaint, though. I'm looking forward to Kill List just as much as I had been Take Down before it. Up next hour for me, not much longer for you!
The Father Black Series is a must-read for all-action fans. Action-packed with some dark humour that this author does so well. Connor Black served in the US Marine Corps in Iraq. A mission of his goes terribly wrong and someone important dies. On leaving the Marine Corps, to atone for his sins he takes his holy vows as a priest. Mysterious higher powers cover up the killing, which avoids America being plunged into a war and leaves Connor free to live. In this one, the third in the series, we get to meet more of the people who were in Connor’s team in the Marines. Who can you trust? Are they on your side? You’ll find out. A brilliant, fast-paced story that had me racing through the pages. I love this author, but blimey, this one in my opinion is the best!
