The story starts with a wedding gone wrong and fortunately the unknowing escape driver is already outside the church. That’s the start of a somewhat classical trope, that often turns out to be entertaining. However the - in my opinion - a bit strange way the bride handles the situation should have been the first clue, that it would be difficult for me to develop a good connection to the characters and the story line of this romance novel.
The main heroine’s personality is also a difficult one to understand, because her behavior is more often on the immature side than not, and unfortunately some of the other characters have that in common with her.
From experience I know, my personal sense of humor is probably a bit different from the majority of people. Therefore take the following sentences with a pinch of salt. The humor in this novel sometimes seems a little crass to me and the pranks happening are not always funny. For example I think, it’s not really ok to put laxatives into someones food, but well, even if they are somehow over the top I liked the idea of the t-shirts (but not all the texts on them), and yes, he had it coming and deserved it. But as it often goes, escalation is already knocking on the door and will bring more drama into the story.
Cooper, the male main character however is very supportive and such a good and lovable one, he seems simply unreal. But he is in love with Sutton, the heroine and has, as you might can imagine, some suffering to put up with.
The spicy scenes play a big part in this book and I got the impression, the author tried to write them extra special to make the book more exciting, but, maybe I am a prude, they only ensured, that I simply browsed a few pages further on. But great to know, the author was very thoughtful about that and had even some alternatives to offer for sensitive readers.
The whole story and how it develops till the end is not very realistic, it’s pure fiction. But all novels in the romance genre have that somehow in common, some more and some less.
Readers also have different tastes, so I suppose, please draw you own conclusions and you might find the story hilarious and simply a great read.
I received a free advance reader’s copy of this romance novel and am voluntary leaving this review.
