I saw sparks flying. Then, a moment later everything went blindingly white, like lightning. When I finally came to, I was surrounded by unconscious bodies. Knowing what I've done, the people around me called me a beast. [Kaji]
Wind Breaker is on fire, you guys. The level of my reading enjoyment gets higher and higher with every volume, and with that, my love for this series increases as well. I hope that it will continue making my heart beat faster and that it will continue to surprise me, time and time again, more and more, and more, please and thank you!
Anyways, as usual the volume cover told me what I needed to expect of the inside, and I got the message, I did, but I ended up being (positively) surprised anyway. Surprised and emotional, really, because of all the flashbacks and the depth of the characters and their relationships that I was so curious about for such a long time. It was so worth to wait for it.
"You can't stop stupid people when they're being mean. But that just means you gotta tune 'em out."
I am... speechless?? I mean, I was already mindblown by the Umemiya flashback we got in one of the previous volumes, and, honestly, I didn't expect to feel so strongly again, in such a short amount of time. It wasn't anything spectacular, no, it was something, hm, so painfully human-like that my poor heart just couldn't help, but tried to flee to comfort the characters I grew to love and care for. You can already guess who took the center stage in this volume by looking at the cover - it was the trio of Kaji, Hiragi and Sako. We got the opportunity to see little of Kaji's backstory, his struggles with himself and others and how of an important figure Hiragi became in his life. And I really, really liked how the author made Sako join this duo, considering his history with Hiragi. I love their bond so much, it made my heart, which was in love with them already, fall in love even more. Kaji's flashback took me by surprise and I gasped so loud when I realized how big of an influence Hiragi actually had on Kaji's character. It was so cute and wholesome, and, emotional, and well, beautiful. I need to see more of them, and more of their beautiful relationship.
Also, I have to admit that I teared up a lot because of Kaji. The poor guy struggled A LOT with himself to the point that he started to hate himself. He felt like a beast more than a human being, and people's reactions to him only increased his feelings of insecurity. He tried so hard to keep his 'beast side' contained, trying to stay calm and collected, but the fight against Noroshi's Banjo became too much for him to handle, especially when he saw his friends getting hurt. He's a protective boy, just like Sakura is (and all of Furin members), so, despite being fearful of his beast side, he let it lose - only for the sake of his friends. I also have to point out how wonderful his relationship is with those friends, especially his two right-hand men: Enomoto and Kusumi. I teared up when they tried to comfort Kaji and then when they tried to stop him from letting lose, knowing that he might win the fight, but it would also inevitably hurt him deeply in the process.
"How dare you... How dare you make him turn back into that."
Hiragi's here!! And he's mad as hell!! I cheered up so hard when I saw his entrance! Not just because it was cool, but also because it felt so right. Hiragi is Kaji's authority figure. Someone worth following, someone worth fighting (and dying, maybe) for, so seeing him joining the fight was expected and made perfect sense (and made me emotional). I loved to see how much of an influence Hiragi was for Kaji, but I also loved to see how much Hiragi was caring for Kaji. That's a protective older brother right there, a brother who knows Kaji's struggles and the fact that Kaji was forced to face them again, made him angry. He didn't stood up against his old nemesis (they fought against each other in the past), no, he stood up against a guy who made Kaji let loose. Hiragi could forgive everything, I believe, but not that. We have no mercy for Banjo in this house.
Before it was Kaji who was in trouble, now the places got reversed and it's Banjo who's struggling. Does he still have a chance to win or is it the end for him? I can't wait to find out in the next volume!
"Whether he feels the same way or not, or our genders, none of that matters. The value of love comes from our souls."
There was also a continuation of Tsubakino's fight against Noroshi's Genji Sugichi. The end result was quite obvious, especially after the guy made a stupid mistake of insulting Tsubakino's prince, Unemiya :) I wish I could say that I'm sorry for him and his insecurity, but I'm not. He got what he deserved. I also have to point out that I really, really like Tsubakino's view towards his feelings for Ume. He's not struggling with them, he's not going mad over whether the guy feels the same or not. He's perfectly free and joyful, all because he's in love. He's gaining strength from it, no matter if the feelings are reciprocated or not, and I think that's incredibly precious.
Anyways, it looks like the battle is slowly going to an end. Will we see the two main antagonists of this arc - Endo and Takiishi - finally joining the fight? What about Umemiya, will he stay sidelined the whole time? Will the town be saved in the end? We have to wait and see! :)

I loved seeing more of a young Ren and Hiragi. How Ren looks up to Hiragi and how he and he co captains became friends. Hiragi san is a fucking badass!

EVERYONE SAY THANK YOU HIRAGI FOR SAVING KAJI’S LIFE AND HELPING KAJI TO DEAL WITH HIS ANGER. EVERYONE SAY THANK YOU HIRAGI FOR SMASHING THAT PSYCHO BANJO’S FACE 😮💨😔❤️🔥❤️🔥
This volume was difficult to go through because it was so painful 💔 getting to know Kaji’s backstory and how much he hated the angry side of him breaks my heart. As someone who struggles with anger management, I have an inkling how Kaji felt when he lashed out and end up hurting the people that he cared. Him wanting to step down from being grade captain and distancing himself from his friends because he thought they already hated him felt like a slap to my face. Because that’s what I had done too.
It’s funny if I think about how a shounen manga end up teaching me that sometimes, what I think about myself is not the way how the people I care about would think of me. Hiragi was so patient with Kaji, and it was obvious how angry he was when Kaji had to let his anger loose to save his friends. My heart felt full and broken to pieces at the same time 💔
I was happy though when Choji and Togame threw Sako to help Hiragi save the second years. Sako seemed to still be awkward with how to react around Hiragi, but it’s good to see him allowing himself to be worried about Hiragi again. But that new Inugami boi from Shishitoren? HE’S SO ADORABLE I NEED MORE OF HIM 🥹💖

To think kaji was able to hold out against the 3rd strongest while holding back his actual capability was insane. Just how powerful was he actually.
Ah kaji He has so many friends next to him and he's not alone, even if there's a side of him he's trying to repress, EVEN with the help of his friends. Just the fact that the chapter (124) is called "hating myself" it means that Kaji still hasn't accepted that side of him, and honestly, no one would accept a violent side of themselves. I can't wait to see how things will go for him. The similarities between Sakura and Kaji i see why enomoto kept on saying sakura and kanji is so similar. They were both insecure in their own strength, both being used to being a solo fighter.
If Ume is a therapist, then Hiragi really is the nanny of the school's most problematic pitiful children. This is why Ume wanted him so badly, the guy is the closest to his right hand.
Ah the pain that i felt from the way sako was looking at hiragi taking care of kaji and being so angry for him the envy in his heart. "Come with me" was the one thing sako has always wanted to hear from hiragi and he'd stay by his side. They might not be on the same team anymore, but they get to fight side by side again. I think sako need learn "thick-faced" attitude from ume chan, no matter how hard hiragi pushed him away, he didnt back off at all, well, that is why hiragi get his gastritic at first place.
DAMN!! HIRAGI SEMPAI When it comes to his children he went berserk. Hiragi had no business being this hot. Banjo finally felt fear. And the thing is, it's not because he's in so much pain. Instead, it's because he's numb and couldn't feel anything from his weakened state. Sako u cutie you were worried hehe he's such a cat cares but doesn't show.

First and foremost, Tsubaki is truly an icon 😩👌🏻 Every single time he’s ready to slay, and I live for it.
However, Tsubaki is also slowly killing me because every time he references his crush on Ume, my hope grows that they’ll actually end up together 😭 I should let go of all hope as Tsubaki is more than content not having the feelings reciprocated, and we have no idea how Ume feels…but I desperately NEED IT. I want them together SO BAD because they’re both so sweet and loving at heart. I just want my babies to be happy and in love with each other. Is that truly so much to ask? Am I truly delusional for thinking there’s even a remote possibility of it happening?
Anyway… My aching heart aside…
I love my baby son Kaji so much 🥺 I just want to give him a big forehead kiss and tell him everything will be okay. It’s what he deserves! He’s trying so hard to be a good noodle, and he is! I loved being able to see how Hiragi gave him some self-regulating strategies. That’s why he uses his headphones and has lollipops so often. I love my boy 🥹 It breaks my heart how guilty he feels when he’s not able to control his big emotions and lets them out in a very violent way. Tore me up even more in this volume seeing him all beat up and bloody. He had his “beast” come out, and it wasn’t even enough to fight against the bastard who provoked him 😭
I must admit, however, that it was great to see Hiragi step in to protect Kaji and the other boys! I loved his righteous fury at seeing what was done to baby Kaji. Absolutely iconic seeing him be so mad 🙏🏻
I’m very excited to see what comes next!
P.S. Every time I get to see my sweet babies Jo and Choji my heart feels warm and life has meaning again 🥰 I love my boys! Love seeing them be menaces to society to help the Furin boys 💖
ch 122 refreshing for a manga to make things so explicit. like tsubaki outright is in love with umemiya and doesn't mind if he doesn't love him back. it just matters that the love is there. the way endo has sugar mommies just so he can pay for chika's expensive phone and expensive wallet and expensive clothes and expensive hair
ch 123 ratatouille mention lol this kaji/enomoto/kusumi friendship is so underrated give class 2 some love they just unleashed the beast lol
ch 124 the chapter is called hating myself great! all these characters need therapy omg HIRAGI is the one who gave kaji his headphones and lollipop?? i repeat this could make a grown man cry
ch 125 i take it back this hiragi/kaji mentorship could make a grown man cry
ch 126 it's ok sako you can go with hiragi rn
ch 127 fake corona is crazy (regretfully i have forgotten his name)
ch 128 okay fake corona likes pain it's getting freaky over here
“I like myself when I’m in love with Ume. I’m proud of who I am for falling for him. Whether he feels the same way or not or our genders … none of that matters. The value of love comes from our souls!”
LOUDER, TSUBAKINO! DDANG! Never imagine before that I witnessed the confession of Tsubakino. Giving that applause!
There were three focus in this volume: - Backstory about Ren. Why does he always wear the headphone and keep something—a lollipop—in his mouth? Then, the bonding between him and hiragi makes me crying bawling and screaming because Sako felt lil bit jealousy, ummm. “If you chose to go with you too, then would you have cared for me the same way?” Hm, Sako, hm 👀 - Hiragi vs the Banjo (seriously I hate his smile and laugh every time he got punched and hurt, he was just psycho and sociopath who feels hurt feels better, ugh!) - And of course Tsubakino’s confession 💅
Anticipated the next river bridge of Hiragi vs the Banjo!
We get an interesting glimpse into Kaji’s past, and Hiragi arrives to deal with the masochist creep Banjo. Along the way he helps Shishitoren find their way as they are clearly not good with maps 😅
It is a good thing this is not based in real life, or these teens would be missing all their teeth and probably be in wheelchairs or beds for life. I am quite curious if the residents are all hiding in their houses, hoping the right group wins the fight so they’ll be safe.
Despite the fighting, it’s really a wholesome story about friendship. I do not quite see how this can end well though - Norishi and his crowd are nuts, and even if they lose this fight, it seems like they’d just take it as a challenge and come back.

One word: Therapy. Just therapy. Every kid in this series really need to just go to therapy. That and some intense anger management. Again, again, again where are the adults in this situation? There has to be some social workers somewhere. I get that these characters are working through their feelings and trauma through beating the everloving shit out of each other, but therapy?
We see Kaji's past and he has a lot in common with Sakura. We also learn why he always has headphones on and sucking on a lollipop. I don't find him as annoying as I used to in some of the previous books. His friendship with Hiragi is so sweet and cute!
There were some tears involved in this one I cannot lie to you about that. I hadn't realized how much I love some of these characters. Kaji and Hiragi specifically, I apologize I didn't give you enough respect. I will now react accordingly to you kicking the shit out of everyone
Reads so fast and we got some character growth for a few of our team that we haven’t seen or been hinted at yet (that I remember). These kids are just beating the crap out of each other over I’m truely not sure why in some of their cases. I like the art, the fights are easy to follow.
