Days after the North American power grid is taken down by an electromagnetic pulse event, Special Forces veteran Jon Kristen and his five coworkers strike out on a thousand-mile journey to reach refuge at the Montana ranch owned by Jon’s parents.
With the power grid down, North America is dark… No cars, planes, phones, clean water, food, or law enforcement. Society collapses, and starving, thirsty people kill for a bottle of water and scraps of food. Jon and his makeshift strike team hone their survival skills through run-ins with the desperate and the violent.
Jon’s family has been prepared for some kind of society-ending event for years, and they’re ready to take on threats from the east, west, and south in the form of armed militias hellbent on seizing towns and their few resources and overthrowing the weakened US government. Jon and his friends and family must fight for not only for their own survival, but to uphold law and order, create safe havens, and support the government.
DARK HIGHWAY HOME—BOOK THREE. REBOOT, tells a gripping tale of survival and perseverance in a dark and now-lawless land.
As good as the first two. Great characters and wonderful plotting! Can not wait for next book. Please hurry and write it. It is a fast paced plot with some interesting twists.
I didn't rate the first two books, but I would have given them five stars. I gave Reboot a four-star rating for the following reasons. This story seemed to be written by a different author. 1. The book was too long: The author rushed the story... 2. Too many irrelevant characters: Too many details for side characters. 3. Too much attention to the actress! 4. The head cook - also a minister? 5. Wealth is one thing... But in this case, it was a turnoff for me. - I hope the author takes my criticism to heart.
I have enjoyed this series very much. Strong Women, men who are “good to ride the river with” and a reasonable plot. Will something like this happen? Who knows, however, if you understand what is happening as we speak, it’s not as far fetched a it might seem. So I recommend you start with the first book, get a good glass of wine, get in your reading chair and let your imagination take a ride. Enjoy 🤠
The concept are good and the story is pretty well written, with enough realistic geographic detail to make the reader feel the story. A number of post apocalyptic writers are doing that and it really works! The only real fault is the wholesale injection of unrealistic politics which unnecessarily detract from the content of this otherwise excellent novel.
Okay, not really but these endings really get to me! Actually put the release date on this one in my calendar and counted down. The writing, grammar, plot and character development are beyond excellent.
Hope the author contemplates a lateral series of what happens to Ben in the same timeline-but only after finishing this one!
The story is engaging. Most of the details are accurate, but an occasional lack of experience is sometimes obvious. A personal pet-peeve, the consistent use of the nominative pronoun "I" when combined with "a name and" as the OBJECT of a preposition: "...sent the message to Erick and I". Should be "... and me".
I loved the flow of the book series. The Author Lars Larsen is a fantastic writer, he kept my interest through all 3 books. I'm just sorry that the #3 book ended with a cliffhanger and I hope Mr. Larsen continues to write more! If you like intrigue and action then you need to read the Dark Highway Home book series.
Really well written, characters are easy to like and takes place, mostly in Montana. Great book to read, the only issue I have with it is that the families all had money, or have money. Not everyone is so lucky. Get past that and it’s great!!
I liked this series. In spite of the off handed left leaning remarks from time to time. Although it never took over the storyline. Loved the characters. Looking forward to the next in the series.
This was as good or better than the first two. Will have to wait for the next to see where this is headed. You may want to add a list of who's who at the start of the next book.
Darn Good Read. I'm waiting for book 4 to come out. I find the book interesting because I grew up in Spokane and lived in the Seattle area for years. I now live in Hayden just north of Coeur d' Alene. I'm familiar with all of the towns mentioned in the book.
This story is just getting better with every book. Most storylines fall apart by now, but if the next book is as good as the first three, the authors writing and story line just gets better. Can't wait for the next book.
Well written, fairly accurate as to aircraft issues. All in all a good read with well fleshed out characters, motivation, and believable story line. Thankyou
