Getaway Ranch Series #1

Ranch Heartbeats

Rate this book
Two broken hearts. One working ranch. A summer that changes everything.

Jennifer didn't come to Garner Family Ranch looking for love—she came looking for peace. After months of chaos in the city, she needs time to heal, to breathe, to figure out her next step. What she doesn't need is a distraction in the form of Danny, a brooding professor who's just as lost as she is.

Danny's sabbatical was supposed to give him clarity. Instead, he's mucking stalls, mending fences, and trying to ignore the beautiful woman working beside him from sunrise to sunset.

Forced proximity has never been this complicated—or this captivating.

At first, they clash. She's spontaneous; he's structured. She's running from her past; he's paralyzed by his future. But as the summer unfolds, their misunderstandings turn into late-night conversations, shared laughter, and a connection neither of them can deny.

The problem?

Summer ends. Real life is waiting. And falling in love is easy when you're hiding from the world—but what happens when it's time to go back?

A soul-stirring Christian romance about finding love when you least expect it, trusting God's plan, and discovering that sometimes the best way forward is together.

Forced proximity • Soul mates • Opposites attract • Mid-30s never-been-married • Ranch romance • Faith-filled HEA

Start the Getaway Ranch series today and fall in love with Jennifer and Danny's journey.

Jennifer and Danny could not be more different in personality and temperament; however, they have two things in common. They are both Christians (even though Danny is a rather immature one), and they both chose to spend their three-week vacation at a dude ranch. How will these three weeks change their lives? Both came to the ranch looking for something, and they found much more than they expected.
This is a very well-written Christian romance with great character development. The personalities are so well depicted that I would love to visit that ranch.

Favorite quote: “If everyone who came here left as changed as he would, then this place was more than a ranch. It was a waystation for God.”

I received a copy of this book from the author. My review is entirely voluntary and unbiased.

Jennifer and Danny meet at a guest ranch where they will live and work for 3 weeks. Jennifer is bubbly and excited to experience all the life the ranch can offer. Danny is grumpy and doesn't seem to want to be here.
As they work on chores together we get a glimpse into their lives and understand why they are each here. Their different strengths and talents work well together even when their personalities clash.
I liked how Danny realized what he had to do in order to reap the changes in his life that he wants.
I'm looking forward to reading more books in this series. I was glad romance was not the main focus of this story.

Getaway Ranch Book 1

This book was a pleasant surprise! I was very impressed with how it was written and how it unfolded. A Getaway Ranch was such a blessing. How a ranch family turned it into a destination was ingenious. To read Danny & Jennifer’s story unfold was filled with grumpiness, anxiousness, structure and walls. Seeing them work their chores while searching for answers was quite intriguing. God plays such a vital part but confusing to them. Until they give it all over to Him and let him guide their lives. Can’t wait to continue reading this series. I definitely recommend it.

Jennifer and Danny are opposites, not just grumpy/sunshine. They have a lot of things about them that are different. Just about the only things in common when they arrive is that each is looking for “more,” and neither knows a thing about ranching.

The characters were awesome. The main couple and the couple that own the ranch were believable in their roles.

We don't get an absolute HEA ending, but we are left assured that the couple are prepared to face the future.

This is my voluntary review of a copy I received from the author.

I enjoyed this story of opposites attracting and learning to navigate everyday differences to get along. The premise of two people looking for change in their lives and finding more than they ever expected was a different tack, but more realistic than some other plots I've read. The story was well written, but I was disappointed not to have a more definite Happily-Ever-After ending. Instead, there was just a lead-in to the next book.

This book was different to the last series but still a very good read. It took a while to become familiar with the characters and how they fit the story line. The author is very talented in letting you know the very heart of each person. I loved Gina and Gary, the ranch owners. Great story and a great outcome. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Great #1 book in this series. A man and a woman from different backgrounds and states meet in a "healing ranch" where the owners are gardeners of broken hearts.
Will they find peace in this country haven surrounded by the beauty of nature?
Clean, Christian, good book I would give to my relatives (young and older) with no hesitation!

Great Story!

This is a sweet story of how we can face life, the obstacles in our lives, and our ability to let God have control. There are many points of wisdom throughout the story that helps us to realize that we can change patterns in our lives that may not be for the best. I really did enjoy the story.

Absolutely loved it! Stayed up late to finish this sweet, complicated yet delightful story of Jennifer and Daniel, how they met at the Ranch Experience, depended on God and fell in love. All the ups and downs draw you in deeper. Highly recommend.

Good story

A working dude ranch for 3 weeks to get a reset or new perspective about their lives. He's a grumpy, wants everything planned & scheduled with no surprises.
She's more a free spirit, sees people's needs & desires to help. But...they are assigned to work together.

Jennifer and Danny came to the ranch because they wanted to change, but neither of them expected God to change them so drastically, and neither of them found it easy to allow those changes. But the biggest change was finding each other - a fast moving, easy to read cowboy romance, by an author who just seems to get more readable with every book she writes.
