Carl Jamison needs to die. He embodies evil to such an extent he probably smells like sulfur. He’s definitely bought himself a nice little spot in the hottest part of Hell. Before the first chapter is complete, readers will be convinced that having Carl Jamison remain on Earth serves no good purpose.
Welcome to “Jericho Burning,” T.G. Brown’s explosive second book in the Warren Lawson Series, following in the footsteps of the acclaimed first entry, “Tribal Honor.” Brown takes his readers to the Jericho Nation Tribal Reservation in Oregon where we discover the strength and loyalty of the Tribal Police Officers, as well as the depths of depravity a few rotten souls will sink to in pursuit of their own interests.
Cops don’t get paid for what they do; they get paid for what they might one day have to do.
Officer Warren Lawson, often referred to as War by his friends, is a man of remarkable complexity, although I doubt he would think so. His friends and coworkers see a remarkable man of strength, courage, and valor with a strong moral compass and a body honed by years of various martial arts training. Warren sees himself as a man who must keep a mental door barred to keep his dark nature in check. His private fear, never expressed, is that this darkness has the ability to overtake him.
War is a unique lawman. He believes police should be extremely fit and forged in the fires of mixed martial arts, so they are more than capable of taking down dangerous suspects without lethal force. Most of his fellow officers find this view a bit edgy. As events unfold, his beliefs will face the litmus test.
“Jericho Burning” embodies the duality many law enforcement officers feel as they strive to work within the framework of the law while protecting others and bringing suspects to justice. Warren is teamed up with Officer Clinton Horner as they seek the madman on a killing spree. Horner is an officer much like War himself; maybe too much like him. He is fit, strong, fierce, and determined. He also sees the value in an elite police force trained to use their bodies rather than weapons. But their Rubicon is approaching faster than either of them realizes.
T.G. Brown is an author who embraces the concept of writing what he knows. He is a practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Krav Maga, Boxing, and Muay Thai as well as being competitive in Crossfit. He was the 29th fittest Law Enforcement Officer in the World in an elite Crossfit event for 2021. As an author, he uses this experience to create masterful fight scenes for his fans.
As elegant as Brown’s writing skills are, it’s his character development that’s most impressive. War struggles in ways no one, not even his girlfriend, realizes. He believes strongly in the law but recognizes that sometimes the letter of the law and the spirit of the law are on divergent paths. He wants safety for his people foremost, and justice for those who go beyond the law. At times, his beliefs cause him to step briefly outside the rules of the force and the laws of the reservation, causing tension and strife between him and his superiors. This gives War a definite “Dirty Harry” vibe. But interestingly, he is immensely deeper than this. The only person who seems to grasp even a small part of this is his girlfriend Ashley, who shows uncommon wisdom and compassion.
Jericho Nation isn’t the only thing burning in this rock-solid, jet-fueled, testosterone-laced tale. The plot sizzles with complexity, taking the intriguing characters and placing them in an untenable and fast-moving situation. As the killing spree continues, the few officers of the reservation are thinly stretched and subjected to evil in its basest form. Those of us who enjoy suspense, action, thrillers, law enforcement stories, or just plain super-charged alpha male stories with richly engaging characters will find a home here with enigmatic Warren Lawson in T.G. Brown’s “Jericho Burning.”
One thing was for certain. The world. The tribal reservation. His family. Ashley. They needed men like him when evildoers decided to prey on the victims of the world.
Fire, gunshots, and a knife-wielding killer who will stop at nothing to wield his own justice against Tribal Officer Warren Lawson, who will access all of his training and risk stepping over the line of right and wrong to protect his community. A roller-coaster ride of a cat-and-mouse trek pitting hero versus assailant in this twisting, pivoting, racing, and fighting battle to be the victor, all leading to a satisfying ending.
"*Jericho Burning* by T.G. Brown is a dark and thrilling journey into a world of betrayal and deception. The novel weaves together themes of love, loss, and brotherhood, where every twist leaves you questioning the true nature of loyalty. With suspense and anguish at every turn, the story explores the fine line between life and death. It’s a thought-provoking read that keeps you on edge as it delves deep into the darkness of human emotions.
Wow what a great follow up to T.G Browns book Tribl Honor this is book two of Warren Lawson Series. This is another edge of your seat suspenseful novel. That had me from chapter one. If you have read book one you will love book two. The main character is well-rounded, and the secondary character seemed like main characters. If you are looking for a great thriller put both of these up in the Warren Lawson series.
Jericho Burning is a story about Warren Lawson and his fellow law enforcement officers' journey to capture a psychopath murderer. TG does an excellent job of bringing this story to life. It is suspenseful and thrilling and keeps my mind occupied visually. I was captivated from the beginning of this story, and the ending brought me to tears. I can’t wait for TG Brown's next book!
This is the most engaging and action packed book I’ve read in a very long time. I love how descriptive the author is with the important scenes and the fact that he takes you on another emotional roller coaster. I can’t wait to see what the next book in the series has in store
The two books story wise was great! Keeps you on your toes as a sort of Batman crime story is told. Very good story telling. Only thing was the signed copy I got was not my name, but they fixed it by sending me the audiobook which helped a lot while readying. Highly recommend!
This is another good chapter as I say for officer Warren. Living through him as he goes through what he does. What would you choose at the end that's what we could always ask ourselves.
