An action-packed, laugh-out-loud funny Greek mythology adventure from the author of My Family and Other Romans!
I’m Silvia, an ordinary kid just like you. At least, I was ordinary until I wound up in Ancient Rome and found out I'm a demigoddess.
Yeah, that took me by surprise too. But seriously, travelling back in time is nothing compared to what’s happening now . . .
Medusa the gorgon wants her head back – and she’s chosen me to find it!
Packed full of Roman and Ancient Greek mythology - as you've never seen it before! A laugh-out-loud funny family caper full of excitement and perfect for fans of Loki, Horrible Histories and Who Let the Gods Out?
Readers will go on a time-travel adventure – with a LARPing twist Perfect for ages 8 and up; sure to be a hit with KS2 readers, as Romans are a staple on the curriculum
PRAISE FOR MY FAMILY AND OTHER ROMANS:
'Perfect funny escapism with added Roman mythology … Charming and mischievous!' LOUIE STOWELL, author of LOKI
'Full of fun and adventure, this time-travel tale will show you the Romans as you’ve never imagined them before.'THE WEEK JUNIOR
'AMAZING! I snort-laughed through this hilarious Roman romp. Perfect for anyone learning about the Romans. Love the sprinkling of Latin too!' RASHMI SIRDESHPANDE
This was lots of fun! I love a bit of mythology, and there’s loads of brilliance in here! When Silvia has to go on the hunt for something precious, all is not as it seems! Labyrinths, swords, spiders and cats - make sure you don’t look her in the eye!
This was so much fun, and my son read this copy before me - I had to go and snatch it off his bookshelves whilst he was out at his mate’s house, and then I read it in one sitting and snuck it back on his shelf before he got home the next day!
I’ll preface my own review by saying that my son is a classic PJ kid and he loves anything mythology. So it is one of the biggest compliments I can give when I say he thoroughly enjoyed this book - this book had him literally laughing out loud and I could hear him from his bedroom.
The story follows Silvia (Livi), who thought she was an ordinary kid. Turns out she’s a demigoddess, who somehow travelled back in time and finds herself in Ancient Rome. Medusa wants her head back, and Silvia is tasked with finding it.
This book is… chaos, but in the most delightful way. There’s wit, charm, robots, turkey twizzlers, clever clues, fun facts, surprises, and the whole thing is so fun that you kinda don’t even realise how educational it is. I’m not a teacher, but I absolutely recommend this to KS2 teachers as an informative but thoroughly entertaining read.
Another utterly bonkers Romanian adventure from the Queen of madcap time-travel adventure. Prepare to laugh the snakes right off your head as Livi, armed with a ton of turkey twizzlers, follows the clues in poos to find the missing head of Medusa ... with help from a robot called Thelma!! Every bit as laugh out loud funny as that sounds, this is a fantastic sequel (and, like My Family and Other Romans, features a useful and fascinating glossary of Roman names and words). I thoroughly recommend this book for fans of comedy historical novels, and I'll bet all my aurei that Auntie Medusa would fit perfectly alongside KS2 Roman topics. Thank you to Chicken House for the advance copy
This is a history lesson in a book, which is packed full of Roman and Greek mythology. The book is fast paced and so funny. Children are going to love the characters , and they will find themselves laughing out loud. I personally feel that these types of books are the best ways to teach children about history and I hope there will be more to come from this series.
Auntie Medusa and Me, is probably one of the funniest book ever! Filled with twists and turns, reading how a young girl faces the depressing odds of Greek Mythology is truly fascinating. From discovering new people, cultivating her bonds with her best friends and getting them out of a mind boggling situation, this book show how a young girl can be powerful and normal at the same time!
