What an amazing debut novel from Harlee!! I was grateful enough to receive an ARC copy of this book and dove right in! In this book we follow Emma and her journey through the ups and downs of college after a tragic injury. I loved seeing Emma’s relationships unfold and change in ways I wasn’t expecting, all while fighting to do the right thing. I’m hoping to see other storylines written about some of the more minor characters, ie the rest of the band or maybe even Caleb!

Okay, first things first, congratulations Harlee on your debut ! 👏🏻🎉
Secondly thank you for giving me the opportunity to arc read it.
And lastly....

I FREAKING LOVED THIS BOOK!
LOVE LOVE LOVE!

except you Chad. 😒 did not love you.

We follow Emma during her highlight of her dancing career which she's super excited to continue on in college. Juilliard to be exact.
Until tragedy struck. Changing the path of her life. Oh Em, I wish I could have reached into this book and hugged you. I cried in the dang prologue yall. THE PROLOGUE! And it continued on throughout this book. Highs and lows. And the lows....oh man, they were fucking low.
I felt for Emma because I could relate how she was processing, healing or she thought she healing, pushing people away as she tried to figure out what to do.
But this girl is resilient. I kept cheering for her. And wanting to throat punch Chad myself for her.
Loved her best friends Taylor and Caleb....although Caleb irritated me for a minute....I also think I know who Caleb's secret gf is. 🤭 Taylor though is a bestie us girls all need I think.
And of course, Hunter. ☺️
I absolutely freaking loved his character. I couldn't get enough, I do wish we got more of his pov. But honestly it's ok. What we did get was 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻 *chefs kiss.
The protectiveness he has for the ones he loves is just simply the best.
And his attention to Emma is so freaking cute.
Ugh makes me sick how cute it was. Okay not really, but seriously.
Tbh I'm struggling here to write a good review. I don't want to spoil anything.

Just beware if you have sort of triggers....check the tws on this one. It's got a happy ending but the journey there isn't so pretty.
Emma goes through hell, but she comes out on top at the end.

This quote here....had me crying again.
"I'm strong
I'm loved
I'm Emma deKanter
I'm a survivor."

To know Harlee is to love her and she put so much of herself in her debut novel, so please be gentle when reviewing.

Please check your triggers. She didn't hold back.

This story is so heartbreaking, and the most heartbreaking aspect being that what happens to our female lead happens, frequently, to real life women, especially in during their college years.
This story is raw and has some very dark moments. Our male lead is so kind and so steady.

I think this is a very promising debut novel. Perfect for fans of contemporary college romances that deal with heavy topics.

This book did all the things to me. It pulled at my heart in a million different ways. Hunter sticking by Emma and loving her the way he did was just everything. Please give me my own personal Hunter.

This book did take me a little bit to get pulled into, but once I did I couldn’t put it down. 10/10 would recommend.

Note: Check triggers before reading

ARC READ: Please Read The Trigger Warnings. THE SPICE IS INSANE I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. I honestly don’t even know where to begin with this book. I absolutely loved it. From the very beginning you are sucked into Emma’s story and with the details you really get to connect with her and how she was feeling in certain moments. I’m gonna be completely honest tho some parts I cried some parts I screamed with joy other parts I wanted to throw my phone but all in all for it being a debut novel this was/is truly a masterpiece. I’m extremely proud of Harlee and I can’t wait to see what she brings us next. IF I COULD I WOULD GIVE THIS BOOK A MILLION STARS. 100000000% recommend.

ARC REVIEW

First of all thank you to the author for this opportunity and amazing story 😍

Secondly, please please please read the triggers warning before reading it. It talks about sensitive stuff that can trigger some people.

As soon as I knew this book was about a ballet dancer, I had to read it. Ballet was one of my loves and although I don’t dance anymore, I still love it as much as reading..

So I started this book having the same dream as our main character Emma. Until the dream just vanished. And we find a heartbreaking but hopeful story.

Emma has a good college life after her injury: she has a great boyfriend, a best friend that’s her roommate and she is studying harder than ever (I hate calculus too 🤭)

But something happens, and her life changes.. This whole book explains us how Emma could go through what happened and how strong she is. Emma is now on e of my favourite characters for life.

After breaking up with Chad, her boyfriend, she meets Hunter (a perfectly good new book boyfriend btw) and he helps her through the healing process. He is everything you can imagine; he’s cute, sweet, has good grades, understands your space and when you need some alone time. I want one in my life.

This book made laugh, cry, what to go to college and start dancing again. I love reading about a girl who loved ballet as much as I do.

I will reread this book for sure, and recommend it to everyone who likes art and stories of grieve and healing 🤗

I am so grateful for the chance to read Harlee’s debut novel as a member of her ARC team.

This is such a good read with the perfect amount of pain, spice and healing. I love that Emma gives in to the pain, lets herself feel it, and makes the choice to get up and try again.

My favorite parts include:
• No third act breakup
• Mental health rep
• He’s a math tutor - lol I know I’m a nerd for that
• Found family
• FMC is from my home state

Please read all of the trigger warnings before jumping in. There are sensitive topics, and even though this book is beautiful, it is not more important than your mental health.

I feel like this book kinda had a slower start than what I wanted, but once we met the MMC Hunter, then the story really got traction and kinda took off.

Emma suffers a personal tragedy early on and just feels lost and unsure what to do with her life now. She attends the same college as her best friend, Caleb, and works at a coffee shop and has a boyfriend, Chad, but seems to just be going through the motions. Then, a night at a party turns everything on its head and enters our MMC, Hunter.

We love Hunter. He is thoughtful, caring, and so helpful. And did I mention he's in a band *swoon*

Emma does a lot of growing in this story and this also touches on some more sensitive topics, so please check triggers.

HAPPY RELEASE DAY!!!

Emma has my whole heart throughout this book. She struggles so much and has to adapt and overcome not only the trauma of her loss but also family trauma as well. Hunter is the grumpy musician of all of our dreams 🥵 but also is so good to her. A grump who is sweet to his girl is my weakness I swear! Thank you again Harlee and team for the ARC! I absolutely loved reading it!

This book was really sweet. The story seems real and you could identify easily with the characters.
The book reads like a fictionalization autobiography. I don’t know if it is or not, that’s just how it reads. It’s intimate and personal.
It has the potential to be a great book. The issue falls in the many errors in the book both grammatically and usage as well as incorrect words being used.

The FMC does go through a lot. There is a major trigger for SA and subsequent follow up so please check all the trigger warnings for the book.

However, you can read past the errors and still enjoy the book for its story. I look forward to see the author evolve over the series.

Omg where do I even start with this!!! I loved it so much. The raw emotion in it had me tearing up, my heart breaking and my heart rooting for Emma to find peace. Please please please check TW in this as it does include sexual assault in it. I enjoyed having the reality of how it impacts the victim and how it goes about in court and how it can be hard to win these cases. It was just real and emotional. Seeing how a victim can try and move on but it still can impact their everyday life. I loved the peace she found with hunter basically. He helped heal her and be there for her. The constant reassurance. Ugh I loved it so much. I love the sassiness of Emma. The characters were just so relatable. With hunter you see how family can put pressure on you do follow in the footsteps and how that impacts you. It was so good

I loved this story so much! There was so much detail throughout and I loved seeing Emma work through her trauma and grow. Hunter is an A+ book boyfriend.

While her life didn't go as she originally planned, Emma still made due and found Hunter in the midst of it all and he was such an amazing character. He is the definition of the understanding boyfriend.

Thank you to Harlee Marie and Literary Rose Buds for giving me the opportunity to ARC for this! You guys need to read this book ASAP!
