Jasper: The Gloves Are Off

Rate this book
The "bad boy of Australian crime fiction" himself, A.B. Patterson, adapts Nathan Hill's cult classic independent film, The Gloves Are Off , into a wild and raunchy novelization. Jasper is the proverbial private eye looking for that one last gig. When he's hired to track down the daughter of a prostitute, he gets into a world of hurt. The many women he encounters along the way both alleviate and sometimes contribute to that hurt. Compared to a cross between Henry Miller and Ross MacDonald, A.B. Patterson's blue prose will have you laughing and longing for the days when a scoundrel could be a scoundrel without New Puritans jumping down his throat for doing nothing more than living his life and being free!

Raunchy detective fiction about a guy looking for a lost daughter. He beds down every woman he meets along the way. In modern times, prudish people might be offended by this kind of literature. Look, it's male fantasy. Let us have our fantasies, for pete's sake!
