The latest scientific research has revealed new ways to optimize maternal health, reduce the chance of complications, and nurture a baby’s growth and development—right from the start of pregnancy.
Rebecca Fett, author of the bestselling fertility book It Starts with the Egg, now brings the same proactive and evidence-based approach to pregnancy health. As a crunchy nontoxic mom to be, this book was extremely validating to me. I made my husband read it and he quickly switched to also caring about organic produce, avoiding microplastics, and using nontoxic household products (especially when pregnant). This book is full of scientific research and has so many modern references proving the dangers of what so many women are told is okay in America. Bonus points because she does it in a non-pretentious, non-condescending way and even acknowledges the limitations of trying to avoid some toxins in pregnancy. I would absolutely recommend this book to any pregnant woman!!!!
10 weeks to go! I started this book as soon as I found out I was pregnant and it’s been super helpful. 4 stars only because this year I’m changing my reviewing approach so that 5 stars are reserved for lie changing books only
Helpful for those who read ISWTE and are trying to navigate early pregnancy. After 3 losses I wanted to take some sort of control back, even if it’s just taking the supplements recommended in this book. Would love to see more data and commentary about whether things like gardening/hot baths/travel are safe.
I appreciated the research review and the conclusion drawn from this, although they differ from other reviews I've read. It's good to read multiple opinions and see the reasoning and numbers behind them.
Appreciated the data driven information and stats about supplements/vitamins, breastfeeding/formula, immunizations, for both mom and baby. Not a how to book but offers good information to make your own decisions
Incredible medical and cientific research gathering, the author did all that work for you, and just take the time to read carefully, it might take away your worries, and protect you and your baby. One of the best boom I bought!
This has been my favorite resource so far, because everything is backed by the most recent studies and is given in such an easy to understand way. I wish I had found this before pregnancy, but am so glad I found it still early enough to be incredibly helpful.
Highly recommend reading her first book before trying to conceive, and then this book at the early onset of pregnancy. If there’s any book I’d recommend for this process, it’s Rebecca’s!
I would do almost anything Rebecca Fett recommends. Her book It Starts With the Egg changed everything for me, and I’m optimistic about the info in this book too!
This one is packed with a lot of info. It’s tough to rely on any one person’s assessment of studies, but this seems like a good book to add to the arsenal of data-related books.
So incredibly informative. I learned SO much about increasing one's odds, improving egg and sperm quality, etc. Rebecca provides an abundance of invaluable research.
A great follow up from ISWTE! I personally think this is best read while trying to conceive, leading up to a pregnancy because a lot of the info would be beneficial to know from day one.
