Great character selection, experienced creators, yet an underwhelming end product. It's fine. Just fine. With potential to be so much more, Titans Vol.1 needs to take a leap of faith so it can try to fly.

I gotta say...this didn't do it for me at all.

Tom Taylor is easily one of my favorite writers. Especially when he writes elseworld stuff because they're refreshing, fun, daring, exciting and all of that is lacking in Titans. Titans reads as one of the safest books around town, with a couple of decent conversations between friends, but overall I found it very boring. I think the fact I knew everyone was going to be fine despite Wally getting shot right at the start of the first issue. Art is solid enough but also not remarkable.

Overall...just eh.

A good start to the new Titans series. I am actually really happy that they dumped the "Teen" from their name. I have always had a problem young and new in the names of teams or groups when yge gave Bern around forever.

The Titans are now the premier team in DC. Are they ready for the big leagues? I like that they they are taking things one step at a time. Finding their own way of doing things and learning from previous teams' failures/mistakes. I also like the way the characters have matured.

Not the most action-packed book, but good story, great character development, and good artwork. This book lest all the characters share the spotlight. A great start, and I am looking forward to where the series goes next.

Exactly what I'd expect from Tom Taylor: fun characters, a rip-roaring pace (with moments for small character beats), and just a general fun, comic book feel. We're all here to have a good time! Even better, I haven't read a previous Titans (or Teen Titans) comic and yet I felt sure-footed the whole way through. I picked this up since Taylor has done such a skillful job with Nightwing (who is a member of the Titans and shows up here quite a bit).

Also a selling point: Nicola Scott's terrific, expressive artwork.

Anyway, to the plot: the Titans are moving into their new home in Bludhaven, but get sidetracked by a mystery. Someone has murdered Wally West! Or rather, someone murdered a Wally West because he like, time traveled his way out of it, even though the dead body is still there. This mystery gets tangled up with someone who is causing scads of climate related issues around the world (which really riles up Beast Boy). Oh, and the Church of Blood is back and has a former Titan in tow, saying they're good guys now ().

Didn't expect to like this as much as I did since I have no Titans history! Definitely pleased to have another excellent Tom Taylor series to follow.

I mean, not bad. Tom definitely Taylored on this one. I could see this coming off as boring to some people, especially with how there isn’t too much action - but I got some enjoyment out of it, so ehh🤷🏻‍♂️. Basically, the Titans are all grown up (there’s no ‘Teen’ in the name anymore, you see?) and they’re getting back together in the absence of the Justice League and other superhero teams. It’s a little stock-standard, but I like how the Titans interact well-enough, and there’s a few plots going on at once to keep you entertained.

What a snore-fest! The Titans are now the powerhouses of the DC universe and what do they do? Fight environmental issues! Are you kidding me?! This was boring and a chore to get through, which is a true shame. There are so many cool and fun characters within the Titans roster and none of them are utilized properly or well. Beastboy had a moment and so did Nightwing being leader but that was it. The story should have focused solely on the Flash mystery but Taylor rather insert his lame political environmental views in the story. Don't waste your money on this volume. Grade: F

Although I’m very familiar with the characters from reading about them in other stories, I’m ashamed to say I’ve never read a Teen Titans book!

But this one was pretty fun with adorable team dynamics and enjoyable action. The Titans are stepping up to replace the Justice league as DC’s premiere team after Dark Crisis, but they have no time to celebrate as they have to deal with the return of Brother Blood, shenanigans involving Amanda Waller and Peacemaker, environmental terrorism, and trying to solve the murder of a future Wally West.

I got the sense that much of this is leading to something bigger in the universe.

This has all the pieces: Taylor writing, Scott pencils, the Right Titans on the team, but it just doesn't do anything interesting. One fun addition to the team but this is warm tea, not hot chocolate.

I absolutely love this book. The Titans are my favorite team, and it feels great that they get their time to shine. They aren’t just joining the justice league, they ARE the justice league.

2.5 ⭐️

This had some good moments but the story was generic and predictable. I wanted more solid team/character moments. Beast Boy was a surprising fav for me. I will read more and hope for the best. I like Tom Taylor's Nightwing run so 🤞 if the next Titan volume is similar to this one, I doubt I'll read more

I'm not sure you could have a better "Dawn of DC" debut then this. Easily the best and most "great for first timers" Volume 1 of this new initiative.
The Titans (Nightwing, Donna Troy, Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy, Cyborg, and Flash (Wally)) are set up now as the premier team, taking over for the Justice League in this post- Dark Crisis DCU. The main story has to do with them moving into Titans Tower, as well as a new threat: The Church of Blood has seemingly taken on a new life as the Church of Eternity, led by Brother Eternity. The Titans know that something is up, the readers know it has something to do with aliens and Amanda Waller, and Swamp Thing is added to the team to help.
Really excited to see how the crossover "Beast World" factors into what's next for this superteam.
Strong recommend.

It’s great to see the Titans becoming what they always trained to be. This was a promising start, and I love that they’re focusing on more than just defeating the bad guys. I’ll be interested to see how they handle themselves when they want to do more than they have the ability to handle, but I do appreciate that they were able to manage their issues in this volume by splitting up and/or pulling in others with helpful specialties.

I really enjoyed this, it wasn't a groundbreaking team book but it felt so unabashedly classic in how it told the story it felt very much like a comic from the 70s but with the quick pace of a modern comic. I liked the mix between a standard super hero threat and the Titans taking a role in environmentalism, very much in the style of an old cartoon doubling as a PSA (GI Joe Style)

I continue to be. Tom Taylor fan. Was looking forward to this. And honestly...a couple issues at the start felt slow. But the story build up to the larger narrative, along with exploring individual character arcs, was very well done. Bring on Beast World!
