Nothing is more distracting in reading a book than sloppy editing which this book has in abundance. Tenses are not consistent within the same sentence, using the wrong word from a pair of homophones (heel vs heal), and even confusing the gender of characters. I was hopeful that this would be an improvement from the first novel in this series, however that was not the case. Also, the author’s understanding of the capabilities of helicopters is wanting: they cannot fly at supersonic speeds nor can they accelerate instantaneously to over 150mph, especially under heavy load. Oh, and they certainly do not come equipped with ejection seats. I understand it’s fiction, but when the author’s goal is to root the story in contemporary technology then certain limitations have to be respected. Like the first book I liked the premise, but the execution is disappointing.
