Flowers From Death

**Flowers from Death is a dark, stalker, steamy contemporary romance**

Ever since the accident that shattered my world and killed my best friend, I’ve yearned for a new life.

Columbia University offers just that. Freedom. A fresh start. A chance to be normal for once.
But it soon becomes clear that I didn’t come here alone.

The nightmare starts out with small gestures. Little gifts. All of them accompanied by notes in a slanted handwriting that I almost—but don’t quite—recognize.

And then the murders begin.

Someone is following me, watching me, and ensuring that nobody who lays a finger on my body is allowed to live.

Will I ever get away from my faceless stalker?

Am I sure that I want to get away?

And why am I somehow sure that the answers lie in my past…a past that I barely remember?

A past with a boy who, for the past three miserable years, I believed to be dead?

Flowers from Death includes themes that may not be suitable for all readers.

I grabbed this one as a freebie, while it also had no reviews yet, but the cover and blurb seemed interesting, and I said, "Why not? It's short and sounds promising." And I woooon because I enjoyed this one!

And I need the next part like right now!! 🤭😂 I actually need a few more novellas with these two. Because I've got questions! Also, I need his POV like ASAP 😂.

The book read easily and kept me glued to my Kindle since it really made me curious.

Not everything was perfect. For example, I needed more info on her roommate. Like I didn't get it why she was such a little b1tch with the FMC. And what happened with her!? I mean, I definitely suspect what happened. *wink wink* But it wasn't confirmed. 😂🤭 actually, I have a few questions after this read - I posted them at the end of the review. That's why I hope there'll be a follow-up, and soon 🥹😂🙏.

What to expect
- This one was only in the FMC'S POV
- I think they are of the same age (19? - since she's in the first year of college)
- They're best friends and maybe more, but 3 years prior to the start of this book, they were in a car accident, and she thought he was dead
- Some twists by the end, he's OTT, obsessed with her, doesn't allow anyone that wronged her to, you know, keep their life 😂
- Ends on a cliffhanger!? That's how I perceived this one, that there might be a continuation safter this part of their story; I hope this was the start of their HEA and I want to see how they will achieve it :)
- 1.5 out of 5 🌶, but it was fine for such a short book

.
.
.

** possible spoilers **

Some of my questions

- who are his parents
- how did he put his hands on the promising ring?
- why is her mother such an overbearing and annoying little woman!? also, for such strict and overbearing parents, they really let her move to New York for college!? without someone to keep an eye on her? quite weird and out of character
- what's the big secret with their parents?
- how did he escape the asylum
- does he have any help because damn he managed to pull a few over the top things and get away with it
- what's his age!? Is he a little bit older? Because 3 years in an asylum, for a 15-16 years-old, at the beginning, it doesn't sound like fun at all 😭 well, it sounds rough at any age, but damn; I don't know, I felt like there were some missing info in this part of the story, so maybe some of these questions will have answers in the next parts ;)
- how did he keep an eye on her while she started college? Did he put cameras in her room? It makes sense somehow 😂
- again, why was her roommate such an as$ with her!? why was she always on her laptop? what was she hiding? I might overthink this... or not 🤷‍♀️
- do they have their HEA!? I need it flashed out until they're 80 year-olds 😂😂😂

absolutely loved the plot and storyline !! it just felt unfinished but i really enjoyed it 🖤

i wish there was more of a backstory with nyx and why his family’s rival was after them. that part just felt a bit rushed. i wanted to know more about the crash that had della in a coma as well.

Good little story. Fast paced. I would have loved more from Nyx POV and maybe a bit on their friendship before the accident but hey... a part 2 maybe 🤔

This feels unfinished. The plot is terrible. An overprotected girl goes off to college after her best friend dies and then her prom date is murdered. Oh, she’s also arranged to marry a boy of her parents’ choosing. He’s awful, naturally. Her college roommate hates her for no apparent reason. (Don’t worry, the reason NEVER comes to light.) Now people at school are dying, and she’s getting creepy notes. But, wait! Maybe people dying turns her on? And maybe she loves her stalker? So let’s provoke him. Good plan. She gets his “attention” 👀 and then it just ends?

Very good…until the end.

Maybe it’s just me but I loved every part of this book…until the last couple of paragraphs. Then I’m just left wondering what the heck is going on? 🤷🏻‍♀️

she lost her friend who could have been her destiny…

Someone is stalking her. Her parents have arranged a marriage for her. She doesn’t want him or marriage. She’s on her way to Columbia University to study law even though she’s haunted. Someone seems to be isolating her. College will be a fresh start or will it as strange assaults are occurring around her again…

Zenna had me on the edge of my seat with this thrill ride!

This was a freebie on Amazon and I am so happy I snatched it up. Zenna wrote a story that held my attention and left me wanting more!

Delaney is a young woman who is trying to take back control of her life (from her parents) after losing her best friend in an accident. Dealing with a stalker, nightmares of that fateful night and adjusting to college life along with a roommate who is a bit of jerk - it seems like this poor girl can’t catch a break. What’s even worse are those that lay hands on her, out of turn, end up missing/hurt/murdered. I really enjoyed this heroine’s personality, she learned to embrace herself and step outside of the box that was built for her.

Who doesn’t love a stalker that will off those that mean to harm to you (in a story, that is)? That’s exactly what this talented author brought to the table with this delicious read. I loved the build up and suspense along with the big twist at the ending. It was a little predictable and had a bit of abrupt ending but I loved it nonetheless. I hope Zenna continues on with this story.

Whilst this was a nice novella read and a good pallete cleanser, for me the ending spoiled the book. Firstly I don't think this is really a dark romance at all. There's some Stalking and things going on but nothing really at the forefront that to me put it up there with other dark romance books. The story flowed nice but for me the ending left it flat. It was unrealistic for me as someone put into her position would be imo asking questions and not taking things at face value which she does. Wouldn't you want to visit a grave of your dead boyfriend? Check news reports? What about friends? Wouldn't they have remembered no funeral... ruined it for me.

Flowers From Death by Zenna Rose
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Spice:🌶️.5

Honestly bought this book on the premise of the cover alone. Too pretty to not have on my shelf! It’s a quick 150ish page book. The plot has you questioning every time you turn the page.. Delaney is a college girl who leaves her home town of Chicago for the big apple, New York. It seems as everywhere she turns death follows her. She feels as though she is cursed and it’s some cruel sick joke life is playing on her. In the first week of her college life one man was blunged badly just for speaking to her another murdered for getting handsie and not of her own doing. She has no idea who was behind it. Delaney would get text messages from an unknown number having no clue who it belonged to. Did the murders ever stop? Did she find out why the murders we’re happening? Was this all in her head? Was life really playing a sick joke?

Go grab your copy to find out these answers.

I loved this story. The cover is what sold me and the dedication confirmed everything!

I want more of their story. I need more.

Delaney is off to college and can’t wait to get away from her hometown. Nyx is her best friend/soulmate that was killed in a car crash.

Upon getting to her new school she feels like she’s being watched. Then the notes start. Then everything else.

This is a force to be reckoned with. Whew.

I’m going to keep this short because I don’t want to give anything away.

Check triggers/warnings. If they don’t bother you, read this.

I am currently 60% of the way through this book wondering why I’m still reading it. I hate all of the characters so far. Chloe is an insufferable asshole who should have been punched in the face the first time she spoke. Andrew is a tool that Delaneys mom should marry. I hope Nyx kills him. Also Nyx for a name is stupid almost as stupid as Della is for Delaney. I’m intrigued enough to finish this…maybe. I’m glad this book was free.

I devoured this book, even though it's not as spicy as my normal reads (a 1 to 2 🌶 rating). I understand that this is a quick read to begin with, but it kept my attention, which is huge. The ending seemed a little abrupt/unfinished. I feel like the storyline between between Nyx and Delaney was missing as well.

Who knows, maybe a part 2 one day. If so, I would read it.

Favorite Quote: "We’re more alike than they think, Della. You and I… we belong together like the night and the stars."

Got this as a freebie. I read the description and it just intrigued me. To my surprise this was a very well written dark, stalker romance. I need there to be more of Nyx and Della's story. The plot was good, there were so many unanswered questions even before the ending and now there are so many more. Please let this be the beginning of their story!

The bones are good. Meaning….the characters are great, the concept is great, and it has a lot of potential. It was just TOO short. I wanted MORE of a background on Della and her family. And definitely more towards the end. It says “the end for now” so I’m hoping maybe she writes another book with….well, MORE.

Would love for there to be a part two to this!!

The story was great! Just wish we could get a bit more back story about Nyx and Della’s past relationship, and more info about their parents! Also what happened to Nyx in his years in the asylum! So many questions!! If you want a quick, and face paced no nonsense read this is definitely the novella for you!!

Not a bad stalker romance. However it would have been a four star, but he called her a dirty b!tch and that just done sound as good as my dirty s/u+ 🤣🤣🤣

I’m confused it says it’s a Duet and I thought that meant two books. But it says book two ends in a cliffhanger so that makes it a trilogy 🤔🤔🤷🏻‍♀️

Spice level was probably a quarter pepper

I'd give it probably 3.5 stars. I read it in 2 days. It kept me on the edge of my seat. I will definitely be reading the 2nd part if she writes one!

Dynamic story, it has what it takes to keep you aware of what will happen next.
I still have a little qualms with the stalker heroes, but they left me wanting to know more.
