I have been a fan of Todd Borg's stories for a good number of years. Tahoe Rescue is another outstanding thriller! I admire Borg's ability to make you feel like you are right there with him and can visualize every adventure/predicament he gets himself into as the character of Owen McKenna. His wittiness is entertaining, and I also love the care and compassion he shows for his loved ones...including Spot.

I enjoy the fact that he adds a little history of Tahoe in each story, and he keeps the same characters in his adventures (Owen McKenna, Street Casey, Sergeants Martinez, Santiago, and Bains, and Spot (his beloved canine). When he describes Spot's actions, his size, and the difficulty Spot has trying to fit into small spaces, his humor shines.

Borg's books are always entertaining, and I hope he continues to write the Tahoe series.

Tahoe Rescue
Borg has done it again. He has a good story about crime and murder, but he adds in unusual aspects that most authors wouldn’t think of. This time he has men sailing a dark boat at night and acting as pirates. They are trying to steal a painting worth millions of dollars, and anyone who gets in their way is eliminated.

The first person to die is Georgia Connor, the eighty year old owner of the painting. She dies as her car goes off the narrow Tahoe road and plunges into the Lake, 300 feet below. All she can think about is what caused her to lose control of the car, the figure driving the car that came around the curve from the opposite direction. She is filled with fear and doesn’t even attempt to gain control of the car. In typical Borg fashion, he doesn’t explain what she saw until we are halfway through the book.

From there. Borg introduces a second woman, the assistant to the murdered woman, Olivia Parr. Livvy, as she is called, is concerned that she will be the next to die and wants Owen McKenna to investigate the death of her boss. She is just the first of several women involved in the story. As the book moves on, there is Owen’s girlfriend, Street, and her adopted seven-year-old daughter, Camille, who is deaf. These and a number of other women are the unique part of the book. Borg uses them to show how much has changed for women in the recent past. He has women owning companies, graduates of major universities, and all are fully in charge of their lives. As we are about to vote for a woman running to be President, his timing couldn’t be better.

It’s a good read and full of action. A typical Owen McKenna mystery!

Todd Borg's "Tahoe Rescue" (2024) is another entertaining and gripping mystery in the Owen McKenna Mystery Thriller series. The usual cast of characters appear: McKenna and his Harlequin Great Dane, Spot, McKenna's girlfriend, Street, and McKenna's friend and co-hort in crime-sleuthing, Sergeant Diamond Martinez, along with many other returning characters in the developing series.

In "Tahoe Rescue", the death of a West Tahoe wealthy cosmetics magnate in an "accident" develops into a captivating search to discover the real circumstances of her untimely demise.

Author Todd Borg weaves into the mystery descriptions of beautiful Lake Tahoe scenery, amazing homes and boats of the wealthy, unusual skills and interests of new and interesting characters, with high-speed action and drama, including a hiking trail chase over the Desolation Wilderness. Good old fashioned sleuthing and forensics, with the loyal assistance of Spot and other amazing canines makes this an enjoyable read for anyone who loves Lake Tahoe, dog companions, and well-developed mysteries.

One can enjoy "Tahoe Rescue" as a stand-alone, or totally immerse oneself into the entire 22-volume set (this far). I plan to re-read all of them again one day, to re-visit in my imagination so many places I have seen or known of in real life. Enjoy!

Tahoe Rescue Review

If you are looking for a page turner murder mystery for a great summer read, then look no further than Todd Borg’s newest thriller, Tahoe Rescue! The plot weaves around the death of an elderly wealthy cosmetic icon whose lipstick empire has consumed her. Add in a clandestine pirate ship on Lake Tahoe, underground purchasing of priceless stolen art through an international mob, several more unexplained deaths involving suspected West Coast gangs, and the dead matriarch’s young secretary, Livvy Paar, fearing she may be next to die.
To the rescue are Tahoe sleuth Owen McKenna and his companion Harlequin Great Dane Spot, McKenna’s host of law enforcement supporting cast, and girlfriend, Street Casey. The mystery has many twists and turns, including a perilous nighttime trek by McKenna and the secretary over a Serra mountain to escape would be assassins. The mystery is finally solved in an exciting, and harrowing final clash with the bad guys.
True to Borg’s style this book includes both social and artistic issues, and wonderful character development. I rate it among his best thrillers and I’m sure you will agree. Enjoy!

My favorite author – Todd Borg with his lovable characters – Owen McKenna, Street and so many more in his Tahoe thrillers. I couldn’t live without hearing an update about his Great Dane “Largeness” or i.e., Spot.
Always something to learn about, this time in the freezing environment and “chilling”, gripping story.
Now anxiously awaiting next year’s book!

As usual with the Todd Borg Tahoe series, it is an entertaining fast paced mystery. Lots of travel around and across the beautiful Lake Tahoe. The bad guys need to realize they will never succeed if 0wen McKenna is involved!
