Maria Frankland has a dubious internet search history and a very worried mother-in-law. However, neither of these things can stop her writing gripping psychological thrillers in which you’ll never find a happy-ever-after.

Her novels are mostly set in Yorkshire where you’ll hear the accent through all her characters. These are people you could live next door to, or closer still… don’t say you haven’t been warned.

Maria’s novels are fast-paced, down to earth and realistic. You never know what’s around the corner…

Decided to try out a new author. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this. The rage I felt for the MC was consistent. I did predict the ending, well half of it. Being from Canada though, I did have to check some definitions of slang from the UK lol I’ve learned some new terms from reading this one! I’ll definitely read more by this author.

This was a British author, so the “lingo” was tough for me. If I had to read that they “had a row” again, I would have torn my eyeballs out! With all that being said, I am glad I finished it. The story did drag and I thought I had figured it out, but was surprised at the end. Not a super great surprise, but a twist nonetheless.

Originally released as "The Man Behind Closed Doors" in 2020.

Rereleasing as “The Married Couple" in August.

This book is an utterly compelling and twist-filled domestic thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

The story centers around Paul, an abused man, who has been through the wringer in his marriage and then is accused of mųrdęring his wife, Michelle.

As the story unfolds, we are drawn into a web of secrets, lies, and unexpected curve balls that challenge our perceptions of guilt and innocence.

Maria masterfully crafts her characters, making them feel real and relatable. Paul, in particular, is a complex character whose journey through grief, accusation, and the quest for truth is both heart-wrenching and captivating. Michelle's character was exhausting and frustrating up until she met her demise.

The book’s pacing is impeccable, with each chapter revealing new layers of the characters’ lives and the secrets they harbor. The suspense is intense, and just when you think you have figured it out, Maria throws in a twist that will leave you reeling.

What sets The Married Couple apart is its ability to keep you guessing until the very end. The unexpected twists and turns make it a rollercoaster of emotions, and the final revelation is both shocking and satisfying. I had quite a few different theories of who and what happened, lol. Although, I came close I was shocked by the ending!

Maria’s writing is engaging and immersive, and made it difficult for me to put the book down. I want to commend Maria on bringing light to domestic abuse at the hands of a woman and the blatant disregard to the man being abused. I love Maria's writing and love every book she has written, but this one has become my favorite! Highly recommended!

My Review:
Wow!!!!! I am completely blown away. This one is definitely going on my Top Ten List. I want to start off by saying how wonderful this author is. I have read a couple of her books now and they were all amazing. I’m addicted to the way she writes along with the topics of her books. The books I have read were family dramas and put a capital D in Dysfunctional. The characters were a plus for me too. All of them matched the vibe of the book and I loved that. They made the book flow and made it where it was easy to get immersed in it. One minute the sun was shining and the next all I could see was the moon. Last up was that OMG of an ending. Never would I have guessed that. With all this being said I can’t wait to read more from this author.

In conclusion, the plot, the characters and all the twists in this book made this book an enjoyable read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I enjoyed the book but definitely not one of the best Maria books I've read. Was too predictable and just felt a bit flat.

Thanks to #NetGalley and #Bookouture for the book #TheMarriedCouple by #MariaFrankland. Michelle is dead and all things point to her husband, Paul as being responsible. Is he guilty? They had their problems and it’s starting to all come out. This gripping book had me on edge and makes me second guess what goes on behind closed doors.
