A 4 ½ ⭐ read. As a long-time fantasy reader, I really enjoyed Badu, the Blade of Nöz by Max Moyer. He is a new author for me, but based on this book, one I will definitely come back to! The book is a prequel, and tells the story of Badu, an orphan-turned-vigilante-turned-assassin who turns up in Max’s ‘Tempest Rising’ series as an elderly mystic and mentor. It’s an unlikely future for this lad bent on vengeance.
I’m a sucker for deep world-building, and this book shines in that department. The prose is also polished, and Max keeps the pacing going along nicely. If you love a classic fantasy with lots of epic fights and action and just a smattering of romance, check this one out.

Simply loved this Novella of The Tempest Rising Series!! Book 1 Zodak The Last Shielder is amazing and you’ll want to read that first if you haven’t already.
This story goes into detail regarding Badu and his unsavory past and the journey he goes on. We meet lots of new characters but love them all and how Max writes their stories is so intriguing and just draws you in.
His world building is exquisite and his characters are well thought out.

Great story!!!
I was over the moon when I got into my hands another story by Max Moyer. This book is a prequel of Zodak and it adds so much more to the overall story and definitely builds even more depth to the characters and some crucial backstory. It was really good to read about young Badu and see what transformed him into the wise man he became in Zodak. I was intrigued from the very first page by Badu's story and it kept me engaged to the last one. I really love the world building and the mixture of betrayal, love and vengeance. Can't wait for the next installment in this amazing series!!!

I'm addicted to this series!!! Badi has to be my favorite character from this series due to his ambition to forge a path that some still don't believe he's capable of.
There's adventure, heartache, betrayal and redemption. Perfect for anyone who is looking for a fantasy series set in a unique magical world where following your heart may just be your undoing and bring you back home all at the same time.

I am new to the world of fantasy books, and wasn’t sure I would stay engaged, but I was wrong. Completely wrong. I almost read the whole book in one sitting, but ended up spacing it over a few days.
I was especially impressed with What a good writer. the author is and how well he described things you’ve never heard of before in a way that made you think that you had actually heard of them! And how well he described the action and the sentiments. Just all a surprise. Five stars.

Exhilarating!
Moyer writes a heartfelt tale of the Noz, a band of brothers, trying to do right in a complicated, complex world of evil. Badu matures from a young boy into a young man with far too memories to contend with. The action, characterizations, emotions are all well crafted by Moyer. This is a series to be savored for a long time!

Like The Last Shielder this one keeps you engaged throughout. Seen through the eyes of Badu you can experience the changes that the Nöz encounter in their resistance to oppression. Fantasy at its best.
