They threatened his family. They invaded his hospital. Now this gifted ER doctor must safeguard the people he loves—before a deadly conspiracy claims them all.

Dr. Zack Winston has spent months helping his teenage daughter Annie piece her life back together after a conspiracy's brutal attack. But when a violent patient ambushes him in the ER, Zack senses the truth no one else wants to see—the danger that nearly destroyed them isn't done.

As the threats close in, Zack becomes fiercely protective of Annie and the colleagues who trust him with their lives. Yet the harder he tries to shield them, the more he risks pushing them away. With law enforcement stretched thin and the conspiracy closing ranks, Zack must rely on his medical instincts, his courage, and the fragile bonds holding his family together. But protecting the people he loves may demand a sacrifice he's not prepared to make.

ARC Review: Death Agent by Mike Krentz

Wow—Death Agent is an intense, fast-paced medical thriller that had me hooked from page one! Mike Krentz masterfully blends the high-stakes world of emergency medicine with the relentless danger of cartel revenge, creating a story that’s both gripping and emotionally charged.

Dr. Zack Winston is such a compelling protagonist. He’s not just a skilled ER doctor—he’s a father pushed to the edge, trying to protect his daughter while grappling with his own need for justice. The tension builds as the threats against him escalate, and I found myself completely invested in his moral struggle. Can he stay true to his oath as a healer, or will his thirst for vengeance consume him?

Krentz’s background as a physician really shines through, making the medical scenes feel incredibly real. The action is nonstop, the suspense is nail-biting, and the ethical dilemmas add so much depth to the story. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough!

If you love medical thrillers with morally complex characters, intense action, and psychological depth, Death Agent is a must-read. I can’t wait to see what’s next for Dr. Zack Winston!

Put your seatbelt on!

Another electrifying, twisting, and fast-paced thriller of a story by Mike Krentz. I appreciate how the he artfully provides the reader a refresher about what happened in Books 1 and 2 in a way, and at the right time, that amplifies the ongoing story throughout Book 3.

While the experiences and ordeals of Dr. Zack Winston, his family members, his friends, his medical colleagues, and law enforcement — and even his enemies — may seem daunting to some, one only has to view news sources to know that these types of tragedies — by terrible villians — that promote real-life heroes happen, and maybe more often than we we may wish to admit.

It makes me grateful for my quiet life, but it makes me appreciate and admire how the author is able to weave such an intricate and suspense-filled story. Wow!

And, the end of the story left me eagerly searching for — and anxiously awaiting — Book 4!

I received an ARC through "Booksirens" and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This story begins with Annie, Dr. Zack Wilson's daughter, in the hospital following an abduction and attempt on her life. Zack and his ex-wife are waiting for Annie's release. Zack wants her to remain, but Natalie, the ex, wants to take her back to Calif. The next day Annie is released and Annie decides that she wants to stay with Zack. Later, the people who abducted Annie show back on the scene and want to finish getting rid of Annie, Zack and two others.

Read along and learn why this group wants to get the 4 people, why Annie was originally abducted, what the group was that was following the 4 individuals. The ending will answer any questions that you have.

Any great read by this author, don't miss out!

Death agent

This whole series is awesome! I know how Zack feels. After I had children I used to think if anyone harmed my kids in any way,I would kill them a my bare hands! Thank GOD that never happened but their is truly a special bond that you have w your kids that makes you feel capable of anything in order to protect them. Not saying it is right but I do understand. I hope there will be a 4th book so we can see how Zach deals a therapy!

Disappointing ending. Otherwise the novel was a terrific read and I highly recommend it.

The novel was a terrific read and I highly recommend it. Perhaps the author will consider revising the ending at some point in the future.

I have zoomed through this series as each book kept me on my toes. Unless there is a book 4 in the makings, the ending was awful. Really!? Besides that, the 3 books were amazing reads with twists and turns on every page.

Good book

I think I'm hooked on Dr wins tons series . I am still debating if he should have taken the deal or not. Was Sarah going to attack him and Anne or, just run, or was Sarah doing a suicide by Zack? Well guess we will never know.

Excellent series

The Zack Winston series is excellent. Proofread is necessary. The story is very intriguing. The details appear to be well researched. Krentz has done well keeping characters true throughout the series. I can't wait to read the next one.

A few things didn’t quite add up for me in this third novel and although I did enjoy it I probably would give it a 3.5 stars.

2.75 stars. Would make a pretty good TV movie complete with drug cartels unable to successfully execute victims (really?!) and cheesy dialogue.

This is more of a crime thriller than medical thriller, but that doesn't mean I'm not looking forward to the next Zack Winston book, as this one ended on a cliffhanger to say the least!
