Meet Me in the Flames: Selected Horror Poetry

Rate this book
“All is dark in cold arms lie Gaze to you an empty eye Fingers laced for our descending Beckon you come share my ending No, the heat comes not from shame You must, my love, take faith in flames”The graveyard awaits in rising mists while swirling leaves whisper secrets to the dark. Eyes, unblinking, gaze out from under coffin lids, black tongues roving over rotted lips. Something lurks in dusty corners gently rocking and chanting your name, hungrily. Light a candle, clutch your crucifix, and come inside. Meet me in the flames to explore fear in its most fluid form.

Spooky season is upon us. And if are looking for a good and scary read—delivered in small doses—look no further than MEET ME IN THE FLAMES.

This collection of horror poetry draws inspiration from great horror authors such as Clive Barker, Edgar Allen Poe and H.P. Lovecraft, but also movies, TV shows, comic books, and other pop culture touchstones.

In a recent interview, author/poet Greg Jones said, “What do we do right after we get scared and scream? We laugh. It’s a release. I think that is a big part of it . People like being scared and taken out of their comfort zones. They like being titillated. It’s fun.” That sums up the appeal of horror fiction quite nicely - and it's exactly what you will find in MEET ME IN THE FLAMES!

Evocative. Creepy. Thought-provoking. Inspired me to look over my shoulder on this dark, windy night…
