Coming Home for Christmas: A Montrose Valley Romance

Rate this book
Montrose, Vermont, is one of those towns that's so picturesque it could be the centerpiece of a snow globe. Jessica Brooks certainly thinks so. Every summer growing up was spent in Montrose, and despite her high-tech job in New York, she still dreams of a life there.
This Christmas, she's heading back to Montrose to spend the holidays with her best friend, Lily, who has just started a new business venture. But things haven't gone entirely to plan, and Lily finds herself in a bit of a pickle. She needs Jessica's help! So too does a tall, handsome stranger – an Englishman, seeking something, or someone, he's not quite sure what. And then there's Jessica's first love, Luke. He's single again, living in Montrose, and maybe, just maybe, Jessica's dreams might truly come true.
Amidst the twinkling lights and snowy streets, Jessica must navigate old flames, new beginnings, and the magic of a Montrose Christmas to discover where her heart truly belongs.

1920's, Cozy crime, Traditional Detectives, Downton Abbey - I love them!
Along with my family, my dog and my cat.
At 60 I decided to write, I don't know why but suddenly the stories came pouring out, along with the characters. Eccentric Uncles, stalwart butlers, idiosyncratic servants, machinating Countesses, Fogg the dog and the hapless Major Heathcliff Lennox.
Suddenly a whole world built itself upon the page and I just followed along.

Montrose Valley Romance

I thought I was reading a typical small village Christmas story, which was exactly what I was looking for. Everyone needs a break now and then. But I was so pleasantly surprised when I started reading. The town of Montrose and the people who lived there just took over my heart. The story included family, love, friendship, plus a good mystery. Loved it!

Very picturesque reading with well developed characters. I don’t read romance stories other than what may be involved in a good English murder mystery (I specifically enjoy those set during the 1920s era) but I did enjoy this book and there was enough mystery in it to keep me interested. I was happy family pets didn’t accompany the main characters or any character as they visited friends or solved mysteries, or visited restaurants etc etc as there seems to be too much of that in novels set in the UK & for me, even tho I love dogs & cats, it just doesn’t make sense nor does that add to the storylines.
Thank you for a well written book. I follow Karen Baugh Menuhin and look forward to more of hers along with books her daughter Jo Baugh is writing with Karen as well as on her own.

This is my first book by this author. I enjoyed Karen Baugh Menuhin's "Coming Home for Christmas: A Montrose Valley Romance." Welcome to the scenic, quaint town of Montrose, Vermont. Jessica works in a high-tech job in New York. She decides to spend the holidays with Lily, her best friend. A couple of men are vying for her time. One is an old love. There's quite a bit going on in the story that makes this a Christmas romance with a twist.

OMG!!! I LOVED THIS BOOK

I will never stop reading the Heathcliff Lennox books, for sure. Or Ms Busby. But this book was such a change. Normally. I don't read romance novels but I absolutely enjoyed this one. Maybe, because of the author. The characters and storyline are so interesting. I'm glad this will be a new series.

At first I thought I was reading a “Hallmark” movie script

The book read like “Hallmark Love Movies” on TV. It ended like one too. Nice light reading but the only exciting part was the thought of a haunted mansion. This is nowhere near the same excitement and fun as Karen B/H’s books.

Disappointing.

While the Heathcliff Lennox books by this author are full of witty, complex characters, intriguing plot lines, complex mysteries and wonderful banter, this book is the complete opposite. It is a sickly sweet attempt at a Hallmark movie with little depth and zero substance. Very disappointing.

Lovely cozy romance

Romance is a genre rarely found on my bookshelves. This one is however a lovely Christmas cozy that will entertain you, and lift your spirits. Light but satisfying.

A lovely story

I loved this book,
When Jessica goes to spend Christmas with her best friend Lily, little does she realise that life would throw her a big curve ball.
She hopes that maybe Luke, long-time friend will maybe finally get together.

I just fell in love this book. It is set in the late 1990’s, with memories for me about standing on the brink of the upswing in technology. And then, taking a step back into a quieter world, the world of Montrose Valley. I am so happy that the author is going to make this a new series. I can wait for Book 2!

I’m excited to get a new series from this talented author. This is a romance and it set the scene perfectly for a cozy Christmas atmosphere with a mystery but no murders. Believable characters.
