I enjoyed this book. Good world building and wonderful characters. The story was interesting from the start. I liked both Eve and Mordakus and the journey they embark on together. Well, he does, and orders her to follow (for her own safety). I liked how their relationship developed. Liked how he acted gruff and controlling to toughen her up against the dangers of the world. I could also appreciate how she clung to and protected her cat, Vincent, not only for her love of him, but for his representation of what she has left out of all that she has lost. A fun read. 4 stars.

Destul de scurtă pentru o poveste așa de interesantă. Tărâmul Protheka a fost devastat de un război între demoni și oameni . Tot ce a rămas în urmă este un pustiu in care cu greu se mai poate trăi . Eve este o supraviețuitoare fiindcă reușește să cultive și să întrețină o grădină. Alături de Vincent, pisoiul ei duce o viață liniștită chiar daca lipistia de multe lucruri. Viitorul ei incert devine și mai nesigur când un demon o găsește și o revendică că fiind prizonieră lui. Mordakus este un demon dar spre deosebire de cei din neamul lui începe să se umanizeze. Pe drumul pe care îl fac cei doi spre o lume mai buna, spre un tărâm al speranței, vor trebui sa își ofere ajutor unui altuia și mai ales își vor oferii sentimente pe care nu credeau că le pot împărtăși între ei. Păcat că nu a fost dezvoltat subiectul mai mult.
