some serious continuity errors

While I love the plots and emotions in Luna’s books, many have continuity errors that drive me bonkers. In this book, Slate drops Grier off at her job early in the morning. They talk about 20 minutes after that and she decides to leave. She packs her stuff and hikes out to a local state park, something the book has made sound is a few hours of walking, max. As she’s leaving the campground, she hears Slate howl.

When we go back to Slate, he says to his friends she’s been gone about 1.5 hours (page 51). So maybe mid morning, maybe lunch time, but not after that.

Yet, when she’s still hiking (so somewhere in the page 40-49 range, if I’m guessing correctly), she indicates night has fallen while hiking out.

Is it lunch or is it dinner? These authors (this is a pen name for a duo) have taken all their books off Kindle Unlimited and they charge $3-4 for an 80-100 page long book. For that kind of price per page, I expect better editing. So since they’ve separated from KU, I *very* rarely read their stuff. They need to get a better editor or have beta readers focus on continuity, lower their prices, or raise the page count. At least 2 of those, tbh, to really help readership grow.

Grier was abandoned by her parents at a young age, the pack found her and adopted her so she's known about shifters since she was a kid. But she's never felt like she belonged with them because they didn't include her in the things they were doing and she couldn't keep up with them even if she did go.

On her 18th birthday she's ready to leave the pack and venture out into the human world alone but the alpha of the pack who's always been nice to her catches her scent change when she turns 18 and becomes an adult and he knows that she's his fated mate. While she likes him and is attracted to him, she knows the only real reason he's asking her to stay now is because of the mate bond he feels for her now. If it wasn't for that, he wouldn't have looked at her twice.

Shifters only have one mate so if she leaves or rejects him, he'll be devastated. Now all he has to do is show her that he'll be good to her and they can make this work if only she'll give him a chance.

She has some very relatable questions and insecurities about how the pack is going to accept her as the alpha's mate. This was a quick, cute read.

Too little in all areas, wasn’t likeable.

Weird.
I felt like I was reading a book written for teenagers, only it included sex.

This was so short, it’s barely more than a short story fit for a magazine.
The characters were shallow and one dimensional, created with nothing but tropes.
Little to no world building, though in fairness, there wasn’t enough story to create it.
However, there was also too many glaring plot holes.

She’s adopted as a kid, but when she runs off devastated, her adopted parents don’t follow.
When the one who hurts her chases her, they don’t follow…
There are story elements introduced, than dropped.
Her backstory makes no sense, and lacks the details to understand.

Plus, what really pissed me off, her referring to everyone as treating her nice and kind, yet she’s isolated and desperately lonely?
Those two don’t fit.
No one chased after her to make sure she was okay..

Was a lot of potential here, but lacked the follow through or development to make it work.

Nah. This was soooo not for me, and not what I consider sweet. Not with all the holes in the logic and set up.
Kinda felt like justifications for neglect and indifference.

I really liked the idea of this book, but it felt way too rushed. It was like, boom, the mating moon happens, and suddenly all their issues just disappear. I would have loved to see them actually work through their problems instead of everything getting magically resolved just because they physically couldn’t resist each other. It made the emotional side of things feel kind of shallow. If the story had been longer and gave more time to their development, I think it could have been so much better. It is still a great read (especially as a palate cleanser).

I’m giving this one star because I can’t give zero… there are a lot of problems with this book:

1. I feel like this was written by a teenager

2. There’s no depth to these characters…

3. The romance is so quick you don’t have time to fall in love with the characters

4. How would someone find their “god-given mate” but then run away especially after admitting you had a crush on him the whole time. It doesn’t make sense…

Anyways, it was one of the worst books I’ve read in a while but I guess we can’t all read 5 stars all the time….

Slate has recently become the Alpha of his pack, after his parents were killed by hunters. Grier is a human in a pack of shifter wolves. She has never felt like she belongs, so why should being the alphas mate change anything? Slate and Grier have amazing chemistry, but she doesn't know if she can stick around. Check out this story to see what happens. It has a decent heat level and is a very sexy, quick read.

When a character shows you they have the emotional range of a teaspoon, believe them. Don’t expect more. You cannot describe characters as loving parents and then have them be standoffish to their only child. It was barely a three. I kept getting yanked out of the story every time the MFC kept referring to her adoptive parents by their last names even though she had been with them since she was a little girl. Meh.

Cute

I really thought this book was cute. I enjoyed Slate and Grier story. Ash Mountain is home to shifters and Slate is the alpha. Grier is the only human and has decided to leave Ash Mountain. That is until Slate busted into her life. He is obsessed with her and she has a crush on him. Will these two beat the odds?

Short and Sweet

This is a fast paced, insta love story. I couldn't put it down once I started reading. The main characters are loveable and of course there is a happily ever after.
