Team man or team bear? Answering thát question is easy,team bear all the way!
Mating Season was a story i was looking forward to reading,and i had so much fun with the ARC.
It wasn’t as dark as you’d expect from Kitty,but it still had her unique signature all over it.
This one was actually quite sweet,with sprinkles of humour,and a dash of danger on top.
A paranormal story with bear shifters,fated mates,witches and vampires,this was a very entertaining story.
Rosalie may have thought being team bear as a safe choice,but that was before she met Cooper.
Because he posed a threat she had a lot of trouble resisting…..
Lucky for her,Cooper wasn’t going to give up that easy….and he had A LOT of patience!
Maybe too much….or what happened wouldn’t have…right?
Now,if i could only find a Cooper of my own……..because i am definitely team bear!

I choose a bear…specifically this one…
Rosalie finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time and is saved by a bear shifter. But this bear shifter claims that she’s his fated mate and he will do just about anything to make her his.
Cooper never intended to stumble upon his mate but now that he’s found her he has to convince the beautiful human they’re meant to be before time runs out.
I love a fated mate romance and Kitty just does fated mates in the most deliciously deviant way with a touch of darkness. Rosalie fought against destiny until the end which both frustrated and intrigued me. I loved her fight. Cooper was a big ole’ teddy bear and I adored his adoration and possession of Rosalie.
This was short and therefore the steam level was lower but it was hot. With a touch of humor, the plot was plotting for a novella and overall I enjoyed this a whole lot!

Entertaining & fast-paced shifter story based on the question, "You're a woman alone in the forest...would you rather run into a man or a bear?"
This is definitely on the lighter side of Kitty Thomas but just as entertaining. I had been reading alot of deep, emotional reads and this was the perfect "palate cleanse" for me and it was so good too.
Mating Season was the perfect blend of humor, fated mates and the right touch of steam with how quick of a read it is.
Highly recommended read!

Blown away!! I love me a good shifter story but this one was even better than I could have hoped.
Been a fan of this author for a long time so I was so excited to read this one.
This is by far my favorite Kitty Thomas book to date. It had everything I could ever want in a story.

Remember how men on the internet were losing their shit over women saying they'd rather run into a Bear than a Man?
Well, it inspired Kitty Thomas to write about a Bear Shifter, and it was a delight.
This was dual POV and a pretty quick read! Surprisingly also mildly slow burn, and it takes you on a little bit of a roller coaster as you go along. The writing has personality for sure. Rosalie, FMC, is a human who is bit blasé, but definitely skeptical over the paranormal. Cooper is a growly, pun intended, shifter, hellbent on securing and protecting his mate.
I'm a sucker for shifter romances as it is. Add in some fated mates, light stalking, and an abduction? Yeah, I'm game.
My only small critiques are about the pacing and the writing/world building, but I was entertained and that is all I ask for.

Sometimes I crave certain authors and this week I was salivating for something written the way only Kitty can.
This book was short and easy to read. I started and finished it in one sitting.
Rosalie was lost in the woods contemplating life and who would she chose should she encounter a bear and a man in the woods, but this choice is swiftly taken out of her hands when a man finds her, alone.
Understanding the predicament she finds herself in, Rosalie puts fight, because the odds of her coming out of this alive where slim.
But fates had another plan. What are the odds that a bear would save Rosalie from the man? 1 in a million maybe.
As soon as this book landed on my kindle, I dived straight in and suffice to say in was exactly what I needed. Rosalie is such a relatable character. She is down to earth, she has her goals set straight. And the possibility of ever finding a partner that wanted for her the same as she did for herself was laughable.
I will leave this review here. I feel that with the length this book has, elaborating more than what I already did will giveaway some of the plot points in this book.
If you are looking for a book that has bear shifters, a heroine that is as resourceful as she is reckless, a swoony hero that only even wants his woman to be safe and alive, then this is the book you want to read.

Mating Season by Kitty Thomas has so many different elements to it, a gorgeous man who becomes a bear on the full moon, and encounters a woman lost in the woods, and she is being attacked by another man. And on top of it all, he scents that she is his mate and he will protect her with his life.
This story was so interesting and vastly different from Kitty's usual dark romance that I was hesitant to try this one. But it was so fun and as a reader I ached and longed for Rosalie to give in and allow Connor to mate her and complete the mating process, but Rosalie was not so easily fooled, as she had her own misconceptions about the process.
Kitty Thomas has created another wonderful story and it not as dark as some might expect from her, but very interesting to read and love these characters. 🐻🧔🏻

Not read this author before, but I do love a fated mate/shifter romance. Apparently this author is known for her darker reads. It has a little element of dark, enough for a trigger warning, but I’d say it’s grey rather than dark (my personal opinion.)
It’s a short read, easily read in an afternoon. But that’s not to say it’s not detailed and well thought out.
Rosalie thought that hiking out in the woods in the day was ok. Then it wasn’t…. Getting lost, then watching as the sun disappeared has Rosalie worried! Things escalate quickly, almost being attacked by a man offering help (hmm, that sounded dodgy before he turns nasty!) luckily (but not for the assailant) she’s rescued? by a bear! Rosalie faints…..
And then the bear takes her to a cave and cuddles her!! (Me. I’d be freaking out!!) falling asleep, she just hopes that when she wakes up the bear doesn’t attack her! (I did wonder why she didn’t try to escape! But if he has her in his arms, then maybe she can’t! 🤔)
Cooper is minding his own business, when he comes across a man attacking a woman, but before he can shift and rescue the woman, his bear has other ideas! Mauling the male quietens the beast, and the Cooper makes the discovery….. the female is his mate! And that’s why his bear attacked! And taking her back to his cave seemed like the logical thing to do….
Trying to convince Rosalie that she is his mate (fated mate to be precise) has Cooper frustrated! But if he’s careful and patient, then his reward will be a mate. But Rosalie tests his patience a lot! 😆 She doesn’t believe him, she doesn’t want a husband either! She’s got a life plan and that doesn’t include him! But whilst she can’t walk (and leave) he has a chance to convince her.
But Rosalie is stubborn, she finds a way to escape….
And every time Cooper finds her.
But her last escape attempt could be her last!!
Vampires are always on the lookout for humans who haven’t finished the mating bond (it’s a long story, you’ll have to read to find out more) and if captured they are drained or kept as “pets”! And that’s the situation Rosalie finds herself in now!!
It does have elements of danger. But it’s got funny moments too.
I liked how Rosalie is introduced to the shifter world. I laughed as she constantly refused to believe Cooper. He even threw in the fact he’s a rich bear! But the fact she doesn’t want/need or require a mate is a refreshing change. So many characters just accept it story ended,. Cooper has the patience of a saint! But after seeing his brother literally pine away after his mate rejected him, Cooper has one choice, convince Rosalie they are meant to be together.
So can Cooper really convince Rosalie that they are meant to be together? Or will he have to accept that she doesn’t want him or the life he can give her? Will he let her walk away? Can he let her walk away, or will his bear take matters into its own hands (or paws?)
I love how authors find their inspiration. And this one was done about a debate from social media.

In this standalone novel, Kitty Thomas answers the question – you’re alone in the wods, would you rather run into a bear, or a man? Many said they would take the bear, but what if the bear was a shifter and your fated mate? Rosalie and Connor are about to answer that question. This is a classic Kitty Thomas spicy and fast story, I highly recommend!

Unbelieving that this bear then shifts into a man, and pronounces her as his fated mate, she’ll do anything to get away from him.
Connor: A hot, rich architect, Connor has a secret – he shifts into a bear on the full moon. And when he meets Rosalie in the forest, he knows what he must do. Stalking her across the country when she tries to run, kidnapping her and making her stay in his two story penthouse (wait a minute, this doesn’t sound so bad!), and rescuing her from danger, Connor will go to any length to save his fated mate.
Some Highlights:
- I love a Kitty Thomas story. Her stories are FAST, and resolve quickly, which makes them fun and easy reads. This is no exception. We get a romance, danger, and a happy ending in a book you can read in one sitting.
- This reminded me of another of Kitty’s books, Berserker, which I loved. I’m hoping Kitty will continue Rosalie and Connor’s story, as she did with the Berskerer, putting it into her different series.
- I would have loved a little more conflict when Rosalie was kidnapped by the Vampires. It seemed like Connor broke in and quickly saved her/bonded with her. It’s like he didn’t have to work as hard. Then again, if it wasn’t resolved quickly, it wouldn’t be a Kitty Thomas book! This didn’t detract from the story at all – which is why it’s still getting 5 stars!
Kitty Thomas can do no wrong. This is a great book, a fast read, and maybe it will change your answer about meeting a bear or a man in the woods!

Some Highlights:
- I love a Kitty Thomas story. Her stories are FAST, and resolve quickly, which makes them fun and easy reads. This is no exception. We get a romance, danger, and a happy ending in a book you can read in one sitting.
- This reminded me of another of Kitty’s books, Berserker, which I loved. I’m hoping Kitty will continue Rosalie and Connor’s story, as she did with the Berskerer, putting it into her different series.
- I would have loved a little more conflict when Rosalie was kidnapped by the Vampires. It seemed like Connor broke in and quickly saved her/bonded with her. It’s like he didn’t have to work as hard. Then again, if it wasn’t resolved quickly, it wouldn’t be a Kitty Thomas book! This didn’t detract from the story at all – which is why it’s still getting 5 stars!
Kitty Thomas can do no wrong. This is a great book, a fast read, and maybe it will change your answer about meeting a bear or a man in the woods!

I love that this book starts with the famous question about whether a woman would prefer to meet a man or a bear while alone in the woods. Most women, including Rosalie, would also agree that the bear would be the safer choice. I love books about shifters and other paranormal stories so this one was right up my alley although this type of book is a venture from the norm from this author. Kitty really has shown us that she can write about various topics and that all her books are equally as captivating. Rosalie just wants to be able to choose the way her life plays out and Cooper is resigned to understanding that when it comes to a mate, he may not have a say so. These two are in a battle of wills and I loved every moment of it. My only complaint, as always, is that I want more and more pages, and many more chapters.

This book was cute and fun to read.
Way more lighthearted than the normal books that Kitty Thomas writes however that did not change how well it was wrote.
I enjoyed the narration and inner dialogue of Rosalie.
Cooper, as a bear had his own amusing commentary. (Cooper as a man was rather drool worthy).
Without giving anything away, if shifters were real, I could totally see a shifter teasing people in real life like Cooper does.
For being a short story, it was not rushed in any way and had great progression.

This book was sooo fricken good that I could not put it down!! I absolutely loved this action packed story!! Cooper (MMC) is everything 💙 Kind, caring, possessive and ohh so powerful. Rosalie (MFC) is a badass with a mind of her own. I love her logic throughout the story and her fight in her. Reading their story unfold was perfect. Kitty Thomas created an amazing story and reminded us all why we chose the bear. 🐻

Okay, wow, that was really good! I have to admit, I was with Roslie, for most of the book. I was thoroughly confused why what was happening was happening. That was the thrill of the story, when it all becomes clear to her, it becomes clear to us, and, perfection. Cooper, our bear shifter, is one of the best good guys. Really, he is just a big ole squishy teddy bear, who, turns into an actual huge, can be vicious if he wants to be, bear. Love the premise and the story it inspired <3

This is a quick book you can easily read in a couple of hours. Rosalie is skeptical of Cooper's claim. It was fun watching her navigate the new world she was introduced to. The two of them have chemistry even though Rosalie fights it. I love fated mates and this one was well done. The storyline was intriguing and I liked the characters. Overall this was a really good read.

Bear shifter, to be exact. Cooper and Rosalie both should have communicated a little better, with Rosalie asking the question that was bothering her the most, and Cooper maaaybe mentioning the vampire threat, although I totally get why he didn’t.
Also loved the scenes with Selene and laughed out loud at something she said, and Nikki was a pretty brave best friend!

I absolutely loved this shorter story! Cooper and Rosalie are one of those couples that I just need more of.
Bear vs Man has been an online debate recently, asking women who they would rather randomly encounter in the woods; a man or a wild bear?
Rosalie is wondering that exact question when she encounters both in the woods. And the bear saves her from the man. But now he’s apparently a bear shifter claiming that she’s his MATE? Is he delusional or something?
Cooper is just getting some food to take back to his den when he hears a woman screaming. A primal need just takes over and he knows. He knows that this woman is his mate. But how can he keep her safe without her hating him?

This was such a fun & quick read!
First off, I have a soft spot for bear shifters..I mean, wolf shifters are great and all, but something about a big burly bear that just gives off the cinnamon roll vibe that I love! Cooper is the perfect example of this, he is sweet and thoughtful, but does not play when it comes to his mate!
Rosalie was so funny with her logical thinking vs horny inner monologue lol I love that she held out as long as she did bc honestly..I would probably do that too, just to make them work for it! I also appreciate how relatable it was when it came to the topic of women’s safety in every day life. And I love that Kitty was able to find inspiration in a real life discussion like the one about man vs bear. IRL men seem to have missed the entire point of the conversation, so thank god women can write fictional that get it right!
If you’re a fan of paranormal romance and want something short and sweet, that packs a punch—I definitely recommend picking this one up!!

I love Kitty, her books always just lift my mood. The plot in this one was awesome, I loved how she took the “if you were a woman in the woods alone would you rather meet a man or a bear” thing that’s been going around and wrote this quickie. It’s fast paced and full of surprises. There is a little spice, not a whole lot in this one but it’s such a fun read. I absolutely love Cooper and Rosalie, someday I hope we see them again, if not then at least I’ll have this treasure to reread!

Kitty delivered an incredible story with that question in mind. This story was a bit of everything, dark but not her usual darkness, witty with some humour and sweet loving parts all in a paranormal bear shifting/fated mate setting. It’s a quick story and was very much needed palate cleanser.

I have remained a bachelor and never let any woman get too close to me - mostly, anyway. Anyone who isn't your true mate is for playtime only.
Cooper Blackmore is a thirty-year-old grizzly bear shifter with tribal tattoos. He comes from a long line of shifters and is currently mate-less. Many shifters go decades before finding their mates, who can be shifters or humans. He owns the top architecture firm in the city (because all heroes must be wealthy for no reason) and goes about life shifting once a month for three days during a full moon. Cooper uses that time to hide out in the local mountains, cheat on his diet, and entertain locals with his brilliant bear antics by stealing at convenience stores. One day in the mountains during his moon phase, he overhears Rosalie screaming for help. His instincts take over, and Cooper mauls the attacker to death. He rationalizes that he loses his temper because his shifter form acknowledges that Rosalie is his mate.
You're not a bear, Cooper, just another piece of shit human male who feels entitled to fuck. You're no better than the guy last night—just a prettier monster.
Once Rosalie passes out, he takes her to his bear cave and waits out the night until he can shift back into a human and speak with her. Tomorrow comes, and he appears as a good-looking naked man. Who insists on two things very quickly and unapologetically. First, Rosalie is his mate for life, and she can do nothing to change this situation. Second, he is keeping her with him until they can both complete the mating ritual and fighting him is pointless. Understandably, Rosalie freaks out as she has had enough from being attacked the first time and wants no more unwanted attention from horny men.

She also dislikes the idea of not being in charge of her life and dislikes being told what to do. Since this is a romance book, women find it more attractive for men to be much more interested in romantic commitment than the leading heroine.
My twin brother was the last of my family, and now I'm the last in my line. His mate rejected him and ended up dying before he could get her to change her mind. Soon after, he followed her to the other side.
The rest of the book dissolves into a cat-and-mouse game of how fast Rosalie will submit to Cooper's endless charms. Cooper is rich, physically attractive, sexually experienced and determined to have Rosalie. Why does he want Rosalie so bad? It's 50% the fated mated nonsense and 50% a sob story. Not too long ago, his twin brother's mate was killed by a vampire before the mating bond could be completed. Completing the mating bond involves sex and a bite, which will ensure the non-shifter party ages slower. As a result of the despair and loneliness, his brother killed himself. Sharing this information with Rosalie would be a good idea. So, to extend the negative aspects of the book, more miscommunication ensures while Cooper also holds her captive against her will day after day.
Male shifters stay at a relatively stable level of mating lust. It's the female that goes into heat to complete the mating claim.
Rosalie stands no chance to resist Cooper as he successfully kidnaps her twice to ensure that she succumbs to the mating bond chemical cocktail to work its magic. Like many fated mate books, the protagonist's free will is a moot point as everything from the proximity to the other person's scent makes them ridiculously horny. At no point in the book does Cooper try to woo Rosalie or talk to her in a way that doesn't imply she is crazy for resisting him. As he knows that it is only a matter of time before they both want to jump each other's bones. The book emphasizes that women feel this mating lust more than men to prevent the reader from thinking women are being forced into rape sex situations. The book regularly pokes fun at Rosalie for resisting, as even her inner thoughts want Cooper. As a shifter, Cooper combats her stubborn human will with forced proximity through kidnapping antics. As a shifter, Cooper knew this was what life had in store for him and was ready for his mate to be chosen for him. He never got serious with women and only used them for sex all the while waiting for his fated mate. Rosalie on the other hand is a human woman who does not agree or care about this fated mate process. The two together have nothing more than lust for one another and I found it hard to believe they were a good match mentally or emotionally. Writers need to remember that kidnapping and sex do not make great long-lasting relationship material but that is what the book sells you plot-wise up front.

Finding herself kidnapped again by a vampire called Marcus we rinse and repeat the story so far but now with a villian. Apparently, Cooper did not want to mention to Rosalie that women who have yet to complete the mating bond are delicious to vampires. In his head, this would have only scared Rosalie more, and if she was locked up in his mountain cave and then his city penthouse, he could protect her. So the same vampire that killed his twin brother's fated mate is, shock, still alive and out to repeat the process. The vampire takes Rosalie hostage and bites her to temporarily mute the mating bond to avoid Cooper's tracking abilities. Cooper uses the help of a witch he previously slept with to locate Rosalie's location with the vampire. Once reunited, Cooper forces her to have sex with him or else risk his bear forcing her to have sex with him. So by the end of the book she is forced into mating with Cooper out of necessity to avoid the vampire. How disturbing and un-romantic. Once they mate, all is well because, in case you forgot, Cooper is rich. Therefore, any insignificant problems Roaslie has are immediately solved with Cooper's overbearing nature and mindless "you are mine" fated mate thinking. Her life, her job, and her attitude are enhanced instantly with unlimited money and sex.
I suddenly feel the energetic connection between us, like a glowing chord. The rightness of Cooper and me seems completely inevitable and written in the stars. It seems impossible that I could have ever questioned it. I realize this is what he's felt this entire time. The absolute certainty that no other person will ever be enough.
A "sex equals relationship" type of book that is both forgettable and silly. It speeds through the pacing and the plot for no reason. Rosalie and Cooper have no major obstacles to overcome to be together, so the book relies heavily on teenage level miscommunication. As a result, no one in this book acts like a functioning adult with a brain and it detracts from the minimal story that is present. If you love shifters, kidnapping, and forced proximity, there has to be a better book than this to enjoy all those elements.

I’m sure you’ve heard the fairly recent debate that took over the internet by storm:

Well, my answer to that question was almost instinctual and not needing much thought. But Kitty took that heated debate and turned it into a fun fantasy. A little bear shifter romance, if you will.
𝑴𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑺𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒐𝒏 is a paranormal captive romance novella with a little bit of humor and a bear shifter who will stop at nothing to claim his mate.
Is this my first shifter romance? I think so. 🤔 And what a great intro into this PNR world. I loved Kitty’s witty writing and the fact that this story was birthed from an internet uproar of sorts. I mean, I would choose the bear…but a swoony HOT and WEALTHY bear shifter would be a no brainer, am I right? Perhaps the FMC was being a bit too headstrong and stubborn. 😆
I felt the pace of the story flowed perfectly, especially for my first PNR read. Kitty also threw in some other PNR elements such as witches and vampires for added magic and danger. But again, the witty writing is what won me over. It was the perfect quick read that I was craving. It’s a slow burn with a nice slice of spice that can be read in one sitting.
❓So I guess now the question is: Man, Bear, OR Bear Shifter?

Well, my answer to that question was almost instinctual and not needing much thought. But Kitty took that heated debate and turned it into a fun fantasy. A little bear shifter romance, if you will.

I was very excited to read this new novella by Ms. Thomas. Especially when I found out that this book is based on the question to women: "Who would you rather come across in the woods- a man or a bear?" The answer most women (including me) answer with is a bear.
Well, what if that bear was actually a bear shifter? And what if the woman the bear shifter comes across in the woods is his fated mate? That is what this novella is about.
The inner monologuing of our FMC, Rosalie, is absolutely hilarious. I was laughing out loud several times. So, what on earth could be wrong with it? It sounds perfect!? I know, right? Well, the denial that Rosalie has for the bear shifting MMC, Cooper, was astounding. In a bad way. She also has no communication skills as she would not sit down and just talk to him for even five minutes! Rosalie is supposed to be 25, not 15. Rosalie spent the whole time running. And the last time she ran- she ran right into real trouble. So, when Cooper rescuses her, they have no choice but to complete the mating bond to save her life. So, she ended up doing the one thing she didn't want to do in worse circumstances than she would have given the previous weeks she'd been avoiding it. That means that by this time the book is almost over and they're just together and in love. There was no romance. And I don't believe for one mintue that they fell in love.
And that just hurts me so much to write. I LOVE Ms. Thomas' books! But, overall, I'm not loving Ms. Thomas' new book writing style. I completely understand her reasoning and she has every right to write whatever she wants. I'm allowed to have an opinion over the books I read. Feminism is the right to choose what we, as women, want to do with our lives. It doesn't mean if want to read something over another we aren't a feminist. *sigh* I want Ms. Thomas to write exactly what she wants, and if this is it, then it's absolutely fine. However, I don't want her feeling bullied by so called "feminists" for writing dark fictional romance stories.
