Brooklyn Kerr, a Midwesterner since birth, resides in the St. Louis metro area with her husband and son. She is a pet parent to two special needs rescue cats and a big, goofy Golden Retriever.

As a legal aid lawyer and non-profit executive director, she heard heart-breaking cases every day. But the pandemic changed everything for Brooklyn, and she needed to leave the practice of law to raise her young son.

And in doing so, she discovered her love of writing.

Due to her passion for being a voice for survivors, she started writing about fictional characters who not just survive a difficult obstacle but overcome their trauma and enjoy their happily ever afters.

What began as a hobby has now turned into a full-time career. She has one hockey series available on Amazon and KU. Her next series is already underway - the Diablo series, a dark romantic suspense series with vigilante and MC vibes is already underway. Dead Man's Curse is available now on Amazon and KU with the next book, Dead Man's Revenge, due out August 5th!

Brooklyn’s favorite things are watching and playing sports with her family, cat snuggles, rubbing a needy dog belly, reading, gardening, cooking, baking, giving avid support to her fellow authors, and hearing from her readers.

Brooklyn Kerr wrote a sweet story of two third-grade students facing many challenges. This book is geared towards 7-14-year-old readers but is a charming read for everyone.

Frankie and Cal are best friends and are wiser beyond their years. Their friendship strengthens as they support each other through extreme difficulties. Frankie’s father is a police officer who was in an accident while on duty and is financially struggling. Cal’s sister is extremely ill which strains their family.

Mrs. Carmine is the kindhearted neighbor between their houses. They have an enduring relationship, which leads to her being a savior for Frankie’s family.

Brooklyn demonstrates how life challenges can affect anyone regardless of age, and friendship can be essential in overcoming hardships.

I read this book during bedtime with my three daughters and my wife for the past 2 weeks. My girls fell in love with the book. My wife and I did as well. It's written for kids but the subject matter is so relatable for adults as well. And the message in the book was so heartwarming. My kids were actually sad when it was over because they became so invested in the story. Mrs. Carmine was my favorite character because she reminded me of my own grandma. Her kindness and the way she becomes a mentor and more than just a friendly neighbor to Cal and Frankie is what stood out most to me. I found Brooklyn Kerr through Tik Tok and while she writes in other genres I sincerely hope she continues writing for this age group as well. She is immensely talented in her craft!!! Thank You!!! Thank You!!! Must read!!!

Frankie and Cal’s friendship feels so genuine as they navigate tough family situations and the ups and downs of growing up. I loved how the story tackled big themes like forgiveness, resilience, and what it really means to be a good friend, all while staying relatable for young readers.

When Frankie’s attempt to help Cal backfires, it adds a layer of realism and depth to their friendship. The way they each find their own strength and ultimately come together again was inspiring and left me with a warm feeling. This book is a reminder that even kids can face life’s challenges with courage and kindness. It’s a story full of heart that I’d recommend to young readers and their families alike.

This was such a sweet story! I’m so glad that there was a happy ending, but certainly appreciated the fact that there were struggles on both sides.

This book is most certainly a middle grade book but the subject matter of childhood friendship, mental health, and financial hardship is certainly not a foreign one.

I wonder what will happen next!
