True Unexplained Paranormal Encounters takes you on a wild ride through five generations of paranormal encounters, from ghostly Civil War soldiers to unexplained UFO sightings. Each story has its own unique flavor, and I can tell the author is passionate about sharing these strange experiences.

I really enjoyed that it’s not just one person telling the stories. Instead, multiple narrators—each from a different generation—give their accounts, which adds a cool layer of depth. For example, a grandmother had an angelic visitation, and then her grandson describes an unsettling encounter with shadowy figures. It’s like getting different puzzle pieces that somehow all fit together. It keeps things fresh and personal, like hearing ghost stories passed down at family gatherings.

As for the entertainment factor, it’s not always heart-pounding terror, but that’s part of the charm. Some moments are genuinely creepy, like when a narrator meets a Civil War soldier’s ghost late at night—definitely a story that sticks with you. It's more about the steady buildup of unsettling moments than jump scares, so don’t expect outright horror. But if you’re into real-life mysteries and the paranormal, there’s plenty here to keep you hooked.

One small gripe: sometimes the stories shift too quickly. Just as you’re settling into a ghost story, suddenly, you’re reading about a UFO sighting, and it feels like you need a second to adjust. A little more space or transition between the different encounters would make the flow smoother, but honestly, it’s a minor thing in the grand scheme of things.

Overall, I’d give this book 4 out of 5 stars. It’s a fun collection of paranormal stories, and the multiple narrators bring a personal touch that makes the experiences feel more real. While the scares are subtle, they build up tension that stays with you. The minor pacing issues don’t detract much from the overall enjoyment. If you enjoy a good ghost story or are fascinated by the paranormal, this is definitely worth picking up!

If you are looking for a book that stays with you long after you turn the final page, this is it. True Unexplained Paranormal Encounters is an astonishing journey that feels less like a memoir and more like a high-budget Netflix or Amazon Prime series waiting to happen.
Torrey O’Neal masterfully weaves together a tapestry of the supernatural, spanning five generations of a single family. The sheer scope of these experiences—from the hushed whispers of Civil War ghosts and angelic visitations to the chilling mystery of UFOs—is handled with a level of storytelling that is both sophisticated and deeply personal. It is rare to find a book that can jump between different eras and perspectives so seamlessly while maintaining a relentless, page-turning momentum.
What truly elevates this book into a 'masterpiece' category, however, is its heart. Unlike many paranormal collections that rely solely on shocks, O'Neal provides a beautiful, grounding common thread: a steadfast reliance on God. It’s a powerful testament to the idea that no matter how extraordinary or frightening your circumstances may be, 'He' will get you through.
The author’s voice is so vivid and her life so incredible that I found myself wishing for a fantasy or thriller novel from her next—her imagination (and her reality!) is clearly boundless. This is a must-read for anyone who loves the unexplained, but it’s an even better read for those who love a story about the enduring strength of family and faith.

Do not pass this one up!

I've come across plenty of paranormal fiction books, there must be lots of them as there's a whole category for it on Amazon. I haven't really seen much in terms of true stories though, so this lured me in. What makes this book even more individual is that it isn't one person's experience, there are five generations of the same family who have scary stories to tell. They do tend to be scary stories as well. I'll admit that I did skim through the later stages. I'd got the drift of what might happen.
What struck me is that apart from my mother, who thought she could see shadows just before a relation died, nobody else that I've come into contact with has volunteered any stories like this. Maybe they tend to keep this kind of event to themselves and don't share it. Which is what makes this book different - it shares stories that tend to be unspoken.

This is a collection of firsthand paranormal experiences and encounters told by the people who experienced them. Some of the experiences are fairly typical if you've heard or read other paranormal stories, while others are very wild and "out there." If you're a fan of these accounts, this is a great read. This is not a literary journey, but mostly told in the form of a nonfiction story. I personally love stuff like this, so I was not bothered by the simple, matter-of-fact nonfiction style of prose.

entertaining and interesting book

The paranormal experiences of the O’Neal family make for a fun and interesting read. Everyone in the family seems to be extremely sensitive to extra sensory type experiences. The book is not written in a professional manner, rather it reads like tales of really interesting ghost and supernatural stories that are shared among friends and family. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the encounters that the various family members experienced. If you like literature about the world we don’t see, give this a read.

Freaky wild

Fairies? Floating dead dogs? Visions of the future?
This book gets weirder and weirder with each story.
It begins very simply at first when a girl sees what appears to be an angel, but unable to say anything, she covers her head until she falls asleep. Nothing too dramatic, giving this book a bit of believability.
The tale of a dog in a fire, who wasn’t touch by the fire, or the on le who was burned and told he’d twice, in which the second time something tried to suffocate him with a pillow, were two eerie cases.
With a Christian belief throughout, this book is intriguing.

Great storytelling.

As someone who’s never experienced any paranormal encounters of the sorts that are explained in the book, I believe that these things exist. It is hard not to trust the stories of the many generations of the authors family explained in such details. Some of them are very scary and some are hopeful and enlightening. This is a great book on its genre and recommend to anyone who’s intrigued by the paranormal activities.

This is unbelievable, but true! The author shares stories not only from their own life, but that of other family members. It is remarkable that in one family alone, so many members, of different ages, had encounters with what some might call ghosts, some might call spirits, and some might still be wondering. It will be interesting to see what Torrey's other books say; I'll be looking to read more of this author's work. Very, very interesting and amazing!

This was just the book I needed to read! I have always been intrigued by the paranormal and have questioned some of my own personal experiences. Reading the stories across the span of several generations was incredible and I no longer feel alone.
