Sapph in the City

Unforgettable You

Rate this book
According to my mother, I ruined my life the minute I quit ballet in college and destroyed her dreams of having a professional dancer in the family. My steady bartending job, friends, and fanfic hobby weren’t good enough apparently. Not that I cared what she thought anymore. Mostly. Things had been pretty conflict-free up until my new neighbor showed up and threw everything into chaos.

I never expected to run into Reid Hayward of all people when I moved into my first off-campus apartment. To say that she isn’t thrilled to see me is an understatement. That’s fair, considering the last time we saw each other she and my sister were in the middle of a very loud breakup that I witnessed. Reid is still livid though, as if I was the one who lied to her and ended the relationship years ago.

The last time I saw Sophie Love, she was this annoying teenager who was always asking to tag along on my dates with her sister. That was a longggg time ago, because she’s all grown up now and I’m doing my very best not to notice. That becomes even more of a challenge when I discover that our beds are up against the same wall and I can hear…a lot of things. Personal, intimate things, if you know what I mean. My first instinct is to pound on the wall to get her to stop. My second is to listen.

Mortification doesn’t begin to cover the way I feel after I realize she heard me last night. The awkward conversation after doesn’t kill me, but it does give me an idea. You see, I’ve only recently realized I’m not as straight as I always thought, and Reid works at the only sapphic bar in the state. If there’s anyone who knows about this stuff, it’s her. What if she took me under her wing and taught me how to date a woman? Reid doesn’t even like me, so it wouldn’t mean anything. Just a way to get all my nervousness and fumbling out of the way before I try to do this for real. It’s a wild idea, but what’s even wilder is that she agrees.

Sophie is so fucking sweet! She made cupcakes and although the door got slammed in her face shortly after. She still made cupcakes 🥺 It’s a really slow burn, but I think Sophie’s innocence and Reid’s insecurities, balance each other out in the best way. It’s a really beautiful story. I can’t rate this 5 stars because she is her sisters ex and you know how I feel about this sorta thing. A bit yuck. But alas. You have redeemed yourself Ms Cameron. Kudos!

She looked so earnest and adorable and I couldn’t say no when she begged me. Sweet girls had always been my downfall.

Another win for this series. Guh, I loved this so much. I love sinking into a romance like this, getting lost for a few hours, and smiling the whole time. Seriously, I grinned and giggled so much while reading this series, and that was true for this book as well. We're following Reid, a character who we've seen in the background of a few other books, and Sophie, a new character. Sophie is the little sister of Reid's ex-girlfriend, the girl who completely broke her heart, and when Sophie moves into the apartment across from hers, Reid is pretty pissed off about it. But they turn out to have a lot of things in common, besides Sophie's sister, and eventually start falling for each other.

This is another flavour of grumpy/sunshine, which the previous book in the series sorta was, but the dynamic is different enough that it still feels fresh and not like we're completely redoing the trope. Reid is pretty consistently cranky, a bit of a misanthrope, working a job she doesn't particularly like, and gets her happiness fix from her friends and her hobbies. Sophie is a grad student, living on her own for the first time, newly out as a lesbian, and is a sweet, anxious ball of sunshine. I loved her sooooo much; Sophie was an absolute darling, and really made this book for me. I loved Reid a lot as well; hers was the kind of grumpiness that didn't put me off, because she's aware of how her attitude can be off-putting, and in the few times she gets really mean, she feels bad about it and ends up apologising. This has a bit of a 'lessons' trope, where Reid reluctantly agrees to show Sophie parts of sapphic life, teach her how to talk to women, look after her at the bar where Reid works. It's really cute, seeing how Sophie worms her way into Reid life with her cupcakes and sweetness and their mutual interest in fandom and fic. I don't always put a lot of stock in books being relatable to me in this way; I can enjoy something regardless of whether or not the characters and I have similar hobbies. But it did really tickle me, seeing so many of the fandom references, and seeing the joy they both got out of fic, both reading and writing it. I've never watched The 100, but I immediately knew when Clexa was being referenced (every sapphic in fandom heard about that death, RIP). Sophie and Reid were both so earnest about their fandom love, and it was really endearing. Reid is reluctant to show her friends her online author stuff, but that's the kind of vulnerability that she's able to eventually share with Sophie. I loved it sooooo much.

All of these books are pretty low conflict, and so is this one, but it has a bit more angst, because of Reid's past with Sophie's sister, and how much that relationship messed with her. I loved that it showed Reid taking steps to fix things in her life and with her outlook on life, and I REALLY loved that it didn't show everything being magically fixed by the end of the book. I also really liked how the stuff with Reid's job was handled. Sophie's storyline also had my heart. I loved seeing her talk about her coming out, about her lesbian awakening, and all the little steps she was really nervous but really excited to take, now that she'd come out. She was such a sweetheart, ugh. Also, all of these books are pretty sexy, but this one was especially so. Sophie's lip-biting and Reid's, like, everything.... whew.

Listened to the audiobook as read by Ellie Arden and Lori Prince, and it was great! Lori Prince's voice for Sophie was one of my favourites in her repertoire, and Arden was great as Reid. I'm gonna force myself to hit pause on this series for now, (especially since I do prefer to listen to them on audio, and the rest of them haven't come out yet) but I really look forward to continuing with this cast of characters. And I'm probably going to look into the author's backlist and see if there's anything else I'm interested in. I could really get addicted to this style of sweet, sexy, low-conflict romance.

“Fuck, Soph. Why did it have to be you? I could have resisted anyone else.”

Sister’s Ex/Neighbors to Lovers…

Third time is the charm! I loved this book! I loved Reid and Sophie. I loved them separately and they were so stinking cute together! And also hot hot hot together! The fanfic angle was awesome and I felt so seen, like some of Reid’s experiences were directly taken from my head!
It was great to get into Reid’s head after seeing her in the previous two books. Books 1 and 2 were great but I think this one was my fave!

Funny and Touching

When Reid’s new neighbor turns out to be Sophie, kid sister of the woman who destroyed her heart years ago, all Reid wants to do is avoid her. But grownup Sophie, with her cute sunshine personality and bizarre schemes may just prove to be irresistible.

Unforgettable You is a lovely, funny, and touching sapphic romance with a glorious grumpy/sunshine pairing in Reid and Sophie. With their history, the two main characters seem like the last two people who should be a couple, but Chelsea Cameron does a stellar job of slowly unwrapping the latent physical and emotional chemistry between them. Sophie and Reid both feel so authentic in their respective mental struggles and quirky personalities that it’s impossible not to root both for their individual growth as well as their romance.

If you enjoy slow burn, heartfelt sapphic romances with engaging characters, witty internal monologues, and entertaining dialogue, you’ll love Unforgettable You.

How to explain this book? I picked it up solely because Reid's character intrigued me from his first mention in the series - even though I normally avoid stories where someone dates their sibling's ex. That trope just isn't for me... but Reid became the exception.

The interactions between the leads developed gradually, making their relationship progression feel organic rather than jarring. I appreciated how the narrative bridged their shared history with the ex rather than ignoring it.

That said, I wish Reid's personal journey had been handled differently - particularly his career dissatisfaction, which was touched on but never fully explored. There was real potential there that went unrealized.

Sweet as Chocolate Chip Muffins 👌

The stories continue to hold your attention and keep you rooting for the protagonists 😍.
Normally, I am not usually motivated to begin a series of books that share characters and histories, however, this one has me hooked and I am looking looking forward to the next.
The thing I like the most about each, is that the problems the characters are rooted in reality and seem to be ones that most readers can identify with.
There is just enough romance and spice to entice the reader, and the problems are both logically real and solvable!
I am looking forward to reading book 4 in this series and hopefully find out how life treats Reid and Sophie❤️

Bar tender Reid and aspiring writer Sophie come back into each other’s lives in a re-meet cute at the beginning of Unforgettable You. The plot follows the teach-me-to-be-a-lesbian trope in a very engaging tale. To paraphrase Sophie, between Reid’s baggage and her anxiety they make an interesting couple. There is a reasonable amount of angst that is consistent with the situation, but that does not noticeably affect their developing relationship. There is a good supporting cast including couples from earlier tales and women that seem likely to star in upcoming stories. This is an enjoyable read with a very satisfying conclusion.

Solid rainy day romance

Cute, easy to read romance. Well done sex scenes, not over kill on the embarrassment stuff, just enough to be funny and cute, stopping well shy of cringe territory. I wouldn't have minded a little....more. more story, more background, more depth, more sex even, I feel like this could have delved a little deeper, but I also feel like it was a perfectly satisfying read so I'm not really complaining. I'm absolutely moving on to the next in the series soon.

I absolutely loved this book!
Reid and her anger issues has made her who she is and we know she hates everything lovey dovey. Here we finally know the or part of her issues. We can say thanks to her mother for a majority of those.
Anyway her new neighbor Sophie, she is a sweetheart and lets just say she gets Reid and she's a great friend too but in a different way than Cade and Hunter are. I'm glad I got to read about her friends here too.
I loved Reid and I am so happy that she gets her happy ending and Sophie too! ENJOY. reading the next book in the series now!

Finding Solace in New Beginnings

Reid had lost her first love in the worst way possible and was bitter all these years later. When Sophie, the little sister who always tried to hang out with them, moves into the apartment next door she is suddenly thrown into a spin and slams the door in her face. Later, when Sophie uses her wand while moaning and screaming Reid pounds on their adjoining wall. A story of old wounds and new beginnings. Love the series and the author’s work.

When you read a sapphic romance by Chelsea M. Cameron you know you are in for a sweet and sexy story. And this third book in the series was exactly that, and more. I loved that both Reed and Sophie struggle with mental health issues and somehow found a safe haven with each other. I loved getting to read Reed’s story, as she remained a grumpy mystery in the first two books. I knew something was there and I am so glad that this story delivered and then some!

Reid Hayward had her heart shattered by Kylie Love. It's years later and she still can't let herself get close to anyone else. Then Kylie's sister, Sophie, moves into her apartment building, into the apartment right next to Reid's. Worse, Sophie looks so much like Kylie that Reid's initial response is openly hateful.

But slowly, over time, Reid realizes it's not fair to blame Sophie for what Kylie did. And as this realization happens, she begins to see Sophie for who she is, not who Kylie was. Once the ice is broken, Sophie, a newly out lesbian, asks Reid to teach her how to pickup women. And Reid, knowing this is the worst idea ever, agrees to it anyway.

The inevitable happens from there, with a few bumps along the way, but yes, it's a Chelsea Cameron HEA for sure.

TOTALLY ENJOYABLE!

Great book! I always like books by Chelsea Cameron. Makes me want to visit Maine.

This plot was different ( thank god ), a woman breaks one of the character’s heart, and her little sister moves in next door. I don’t recall reading this trope before…a truly wonderful story.

This is the best of the series thus far!

I am delighted with Chelsea M. Cameron’s style of writing. Her characters are so real, with every day hang ups and back stories that we have all faced (or not). The tone of this book is so relaxed, yet there is a good level of anxiety mixed with a suitable amount of sex to keep everyone happy. I am looking forward to the next book!

Realistic build of an unexpected but strong new relationship.

I enjoy books that build a relationship that I could see in real life. Nicely built sharing a hobby/vocation in a path together. People I could find in my friends.

Very disappointing!
Reid after being described as a really neat and sympathetic in her interaction with Sophie, becomes a douche-bag when it comes to the sex. or maybe thats just my preferences. no gentle seduction involved.

Great Book

Having read most of the authors novels I can say she did not disappoint with this one. I found it to be a very nice quick read and really enjoyed seeing the characters grow!

I can't seem to find a book that will not give me cringe feelings these days.
This book emphasise that Reid is "broken" so much that I stoped feeling sorry for her and instead I just want her to shut up her sobbing mouth.
Sophie was really sweet though and I liked her a lot.
This story was kind of flat. I don't know what I'm looking for anymore. I have read a lot of books lately and maybe I have become very picky.

So Sweet

This book was so cute. I love that they had to deal with real life issues and it was not all easy. Another good book! It has also taught me about fanfic and I’m super intrigued.

so this is fanfic

Considering how hard it is to be a published author, Reid's fanfic was a revelation. Go Reid! Interesting complication hook, being the sister of the dumper. On to #4!
