Colonel Paul Jackson was to command the first manned mission to Mars with a crew of five additional people. Following the death of his wife and daughter, the colonel was considering leaving the space program. After deciding to remain in, Colonel Jackson remained in command of the mission. Shortly before landing, Lieutenant Colonel Trina Tyler activated cameras to record the landing for those still on Earth. Moments later, a giant blue-white disk appeared before them and pulled them in. What was the disk and where did it send them? Would they see Earth and their friends and family again?
Fifty years later, Colonel Robert Marks took command of Earth’s first starship with a maximum speed of warp five. Everything was going as expected until the starship Fate struck something while traveling at warp two and caused the colonel to order all hands to abandon ship. After sending his logs and reports to Earth, Colonel Marks was the last aboard the life pod the bridge crew was waiting in. He and the others with him were aboard the pod for only three or four days, but somehow, the pod he was in was picked up by friendly aliens fifteen years after the first pods. Exactly what happened? Exactly where, or when, were they? Would they see Earth and their friends and family again?
