Caught between family loyalty and their affection for one another…
Tristan
I always get my way.
Fighting is my life. In the ring, on the street, there’s no problem that can’t be solved with my fists.
When an injury puts me on the sidelines, my family sends me down South on business. They want me to take over Doyle Whiskey, a job they claim is perfect for me.
And it is, until the owner’s daughter stumbles back into my life.
Evie’s not the shy, awkward girl I knew as a kid. She’s beautiful and fierce, and she doesn’t need me.
Until she does.
Just because I can’t step into the ring, it doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten how to fight. Especially for a girl like Evie.
Evie
Our marriage might be a sham, but our friendship isn’t.
When my father’s debts land him in hot water, there’s a lot more than just money on the line. My freedom is at risk, and if I don’t figure something out, I could end up married off as payment.
But then Tristan shows up to take over our distillery. He’s as gorgeous as ever, but he’s not the sweet, mischievous boy I crushed on as a kid. He makes deals and takes what he wants and when he sees that I’m in danger, he takes me, too. In marriage.
I know he’s protecting his own interests by protecting me, but it doesn’t matter. I’ve wanted him my whole life, and I’ll do whatever it takes to protect him right back.
Because the queen’s the most powerful piece on the board.
Whiskey Kisses is a steamy, dark, Irish mob romance. Marriage of convenience, m/f, friends-to-lovers, forced proximity.
It's the second book of the Gangland Hearts trilogy, which should be read in order. Recommended for mature audiences.
Born and raised in the sunny US Virgin Islands, Rochelle Allison has been making up stories since she was a little girl. Nowadays, Rochelle lives just outside of Atlanta with her one true love and their kids. When she’s not writing, she's reading, hiking, swimming, having coffee with friends, playing word games or taking pictures. She can almost always be found with a book…and, often, chocolate.

I was given an advance copy to read of Whiskey Kisses for an honest review, and loved every minute of it. Such a great sequel! With all the romance and suspense, I couldn’t read it fast enough, even though I tried to slow down to savor it more. I’ve always enjoyed Rochelle’s writing, especially this series which seems a little out of her normal stories with crime and gangs. I already liked Tristen from Lucky Strike but I fell in love with him in Whiskey Kisses. Him and Evie are so cute together, you can’t help but root for them from the start! Can’t wait for the 3rd book!
The prologue begins with some background in what I would assume would be from book 1 but in Tristan's POV. Straight away this made me sit up and take notice. It definitely gets you interested and your thoughts go to the rest of the book and what we might be in store for I have never read anything from this author so I wasn’t entirely sure what I was in for. There is another book prior to this one and while I didn’t feel like you need to read the first one, my interest was definitely piqued enough that I will end up going back to read it. This was a mafia type romance with a difference. Kind of like a 'soft' mafia type book. It was kind of nice actually to read something different from the norm. Tristan seemed like the perfect book boyfriend. He was sweet, but not overly and he also have the alpha male aura so he was the whole package! He was a bit oblivious about Evie's feelings. I absolutely loved Evie. She wasn’t overly confident in herself, but you could see her change throughout the book. My first thought about these two characters were that they come across older than what they were. They both went into their arrangement with eyes wide open; they knew what they were doing and I did like the fact that they both made the decision together. Not that poor Evie really had much of a choice. Tristan never pushed though and was doing it to also help her as well as himself and his family. I enjoyed their friendship and how their relationship blossomed. It seemed so natural for both of them. They made decisions together and really were a partnership. This really hooked me and I basically finished reading this in one sitting. It had a good storyline and plenty of suspense to keep me turning the page and eager to see what happens next. I loved the writing. It really did have a southern feel to it and I found myself 'hearing' the southern twang when they spoke. It was quite enjoyable. All of the side characters really made the story as well, they were one big family and you could see them all rally around each other when they needed it most. This was a really great book and I would recommend this to anyone that would like to just dip their toes into the Mafia/Organised Crime type story, it is very mild. I will be looking out for the next book for sure!
I love a good suspense and marriage of convenience book! This one hit the spot. Tristan has been tasked with getting a distillery from a family friend as a repayment for the debt they owe. When he runs into an old friend, she happens to be in trouble and he feels the need to protect her in every way. Evie has never gotten on her crush on Tristan. Her dad has given her to marry her ex from high school, as a way of paying off his debts and she goes to Tristan for help. Oh this book had me on my toes! Evie is a woman on fire and I love me a protective man! Can’t wait to read the next book!
Tristan has finally been released from the hospital after being shot helping his brother Lucky rescue Bria and Liam. The doctor looks at him sternly telling him 'no fighting, no competing' if he wants to heal properly and not have another surgery.
His life outside of his family is fighting. He is not only the top MMA fighter but he teaches upcoming fighters. He may not be able to fight but he can watch the videos of his past matches. He is used to training hard and having to work through rehab is getting him antsy.
He meets his father and brother Lucky, who is now the leader of the Irish mafia in Boston, at their local pub to catch up on family business when their father wants him to take the lead in the Doyle Whiskey takeover. Randall Doyle used to be close friends with their dad and he remembers spending vacations on their Savannah estate when he was younger, but he has been refusing to pay money loaned by the Kellys for years and now it was time for him to pay up or sign over Doyle Whiskey.
They aren't the only debts Doyle has and they need to get to him before the others do. Adding Doyle Whiskey alongside their mother's wine business would be a great transition.
Deciding to pay a visit to Randall as soon as he arrives in Savannah is the best option he is lifting his hand to knock when he hears yelling and the door opens and a body slams into him. He looks down into the shocked eyes of Randall's daughter Sunny.
I loved this story. It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Although this book has its own HEA, I would suggest you start with Lucky and Bria's story to meet the full family and how Tristan became injured as this book starts where book 1 left off.
This book is action-packed and full of danger. Tristan is in Savannah to give Randall Doyle the choice of paying his debt in full or signing over Doyle Whiskey.
Immediately.
Sunny knew something was going on with her father, but had no idea it had gotten so bad... or the lengths he would go to avoid paying the Kellys.
This mafia suspense romance is smoking hot and full of suspense and Sunny has a few surprises up her sleeve as well. Highly recommend!
Book 2 picks up at the climatic event of book 1, where we first met our hero, Tristan. He is the 2nd son of a mafia-type family. With his injury keeping him from his livelihood as an MMA fighter, he goes to Savannah to represent his family in a business takeover.
There he reconnects with Evie. Their families spent time together when they were kids and she's always crushed on him. Now thrown together again and Tristan begins to realize the feelings aren't all one sided.
His feelings started more as protective and the forced proximity brought about more. I had a little trouble believing he was falling for her mainly because he had such a carefree, almost comical attitude at times toward her. But he's also fiercely loyal.
The business aspects were woven well in the story. There is some violence but not a ton of description on the page. I was a bit surprised, pleasantly, by a bold move that Evie makes. She wasn't content to just let the guys handle it and I liked that!
Overall, it was a good follow up novel. I liked book 1 better but I'm a sucker for a single dad. The preview for their sister's book sounds really good so I'll definitely be reading that.
This is the second book in the 𝙶𝙰𝙽𝙶𝙻𝙰𝙽𝙳 𝙷𝙴𝙰𝚁𝚃𝚂 𝚃𝚁𝙸𝙻𝙾𝙶𝚈, the books should be read in order. As I said about the first book, this is m@fia romance that’s unique, lighter and with the women being respected as equals. I love that and I love this author’s smooth, smart writing style. This story takes us from from Boston, Massachusetts to atmospheric Savannah, Georgia. This author has a talent for making me feel like I’m in the story where it’s taking place. The scenes and atmosphere are set so beautifully. Tristan and Evie spent family summers together as children and teens. This makes their quick camaraderie and trust for each other understandable. I felt it made the chemistry development and romance more authentic as well. Both characters are fighter’s and they both have vulnerabilities. I love the flow of their relationship. The laughter they share and deeper emotions. This story has intrigue, suspense and action. Danger is lurking at all times, it kept me on my toes. The secondary characters (the Boston mob members) are a great addition to the story as are Tristan’s fantastic and likable family. This is such an entertaining, well paced story with a lot going on yet, it’s not chaotic. There’s time spent in the characters and their interactions. There’s great character development and growth. I love the story, characters and phenomenal writing. This is another winner from this talented author. I can’t wait for the third book!!
Whiskey Kisses is a light mafia read, perfect for someone new to mafia romance. Tristan is sent to Savannah to handle a problem with Doyle Whiskey and the owner. His family has been friends with the Doyle’s for years but things have been changing recently. Evie has always crushed on Tristan but he never really paid attention to the youngest Doyle. Now that he is back in town, he is surprised by how Evie has grown up. Evie has a few issues with her confidence due to her dad and sister.
A lot of family dynamics in this story. Some suspense mixed in and the attraction/connection between Evie and Tristan is undeniable.
Whiskey Kisses is another great non-traditional love story from Rochelle Allison. She always delivers with complex characters who are never perfect but seem to be able to find one another in the midst of their individual and familial chaos. I loved seeing Tristan and Evie’s history play out in their adult relationships. The supporting characters are great additions to the storyline and don’t feel like last minute additions. I love how strong-willed Evie is and how she’s not your traditional female lead. Can’t wait to read more from Rochelle!
This is so awesome I was quickly hooked . I took the bait hook line and sinker. It doesn’t take long for him to sink her .This marriage of convenience is just a sham as she’s as hooked on his advances as much I am . And yup I am goddam! He takes over Doyle’s Whisky and gets frisky too . Evie is no longer shy and retiring. So it’s pistons all firing the Tristan way …He sees she’s in danger and takes her too , he’s no longer a stranger to her body and the view…woohoo! He’s got her back and in return she has his ,but just business? This certainly ain’t . A lotta heat and a bit of quaint.
Rochelle does it again! A great story that hits all my favorite book needs! - Strong well developed characters, romance, a good bad boy, family, good girlfriends, and a very unexpected plot twist! I could not put down! I also loved the settings of Savannah and Boston! Rochelle’s writing just gets better and better! Can’t wait for more.
“The queen is the most powerfully piece on the board”
I was excited to read this book after reading the first and this one did not disappoint. I absolutely loved Tristan and Evie’s story. I loved how the author wrote this love story and Evie character.
Baby, these Kelly men! It started out a little slow for me, but then pow! I can imagine Tristan as an Alpha man. Sent to Savannah to take care of family business, he runs into the daughter of the owner of the distillery (Evie Doyle)that owes his family monies. Being new in a small town always brings notice. Evie's dad comes up with the best proposal to solve his problems unbeknownst to Evie it means marrying the town bullies' son. Gangland Hearts has a fan out of me. Fast-paced, violence, romance, suspense, marriage of convenience, friends to lovers. It's good! This is an honest review for an ARC.
Just finished reading Whiskey Kisses and let me tell you I couldn't put this book down. I loved the marriage of convenience and the suspense in this book. Love how they made it through at the end. I recommend this book.
Whiskey kisses is the second book in the G@ngl@nd hearts series. While it is not necessary to read the first book, I do think that it provides a lot of detail. I knew from Lucky Strike that I was going to love Tristan’s character. I didn’t think that I would love him as much as I did in Whiskey Kisses! I couldn’t put this book down! It was full of love and suspense! Whiskey Kisses follows Tristan as he is sent from Boston to Savannah to secure the takeover of Doyle Whiskey. In Savannah, Tristan runs into his childhood friend Evie. Evie’s father is trying to arrange a marriage between her and sleeze. Tristan steps in to save Evie. Evie is a spitfire and keeps everyone on their toes. We also get to see more of Tristan’s parents, who I love! I hope that Rochelle writes a book about them!
This book has a bit of suspense, a marriage of convenience and a strong female lead. All things I like. Evie had a crush on Tristan and had never let it go. Her father plans to marry her off and she goes to him for help. Tristan, yup alpha male and he plans to protect Evie. You need to read the book to get all the ❤️🔥. Enjoy
I enjoyed this story. With the mystery, animosity between crime families, and all that chemistry between Evie and Tristan, this book is a real page turner. I love how they truly see one another and embrace each other’s life. They are the perfect match. I look forward to the next book in the series.
Highly recommend reading the first book of this series prior to this, as it sets up the back story of Tristan and his family.
Mafia type romance that's a bit different from the norm.
Tristan and his childhood family friend Evie get married to get Evie out of a unwanted situation, which in turns makes everything else that Tristan is in town to do so much more complicated, and dangerous for everyone involved, with Evie getting caught up in her families drama that she had no idea about.
I enjoyed how their love for each other grew throughout the drama, which only made them closer in my opinion.
I do felt like parts of this story was rushed, however I enjoyed it.
I wanna begin by thanking the author and publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I really do appreciate it and I will always be honest when it comes to ARCS. With that being said please do not take offense to my opinions but rather take it as constructive criticism.
Rating: 3 stars I really wanted to enjoy this book but there was just something off, it felt poorly executed. If I hadn’t known better I would assume this was Rochelle’s debut novel, I felt like the writing and the writing style did not match the genre of the book it felt very new adult romance but turns out this is supposed to be a mafia romance. I definitely feel like it could’ve been executed better. Also the whole being forced to get married to pay off your fathers debt thing felt very sloppy and one direction wattpad fanfiction-ish idk, I did enjoy certain aspects but overall I feel like it could’ve been better. I don’t love or hate it.
This is book two in the series but it can be read as a standalone. Tristan is part of the mafia that handles its business mostly in Boston. His brother is in charge and he if his right hand man. With life in the mafia things aren't always so easy. Tristan is recovering from a GSW to his shoulder when his sister-in-law & nephew were kidnapped and it is gonna take time to recover which means he can't get in the ring and fight. He is going stir crazy and it is really taking a toll on his mental health. So to make him feel useful, his brother and father send him down to Savannah to see what is taking so long for them to get ownership of Doyle Whiskey. When down there he runs into a very old childhood friend Evie.
Evie is in for a world of shock when she learns that her father's debts and poor business risks were so bad that they were about to lose their family legacy. Evie is an independent woman who gets lost in her own world of herbs and tinctures. When she tried to incorporate her botany skills with that of the family distillery her father shot it down and made it seem like such an absurd choice. So she stuck with creating a name for her self in getting liquor into bars through-out the area. When she ran into Tristan her childhood friend/crush she had no idea what the world was about to turn into.
Tristan protects Evie and prevents her from being married off to a creep by marrying her himself. This fake marriage was only supposed to last for a year and then they could go their separate ways. In that time together they fell for each other and took over the Distillery and brought it back to the great operation that it once was. In being married to Tristan it made enemies of the Deschamps which is a well known player in those parts of Savannah. Enemies like that would stop at nothing to get what they want. They are not the type of people to lay down and let outsiders come in and run all over them, there will be consequences no one saw coming. When things start to get dangerous and shady, Tristan calls in the reinforcements to put things to an end. What they thought was going to be a bloody war turned into nothing with Evie stumbling into her aunt's secret. In the end Tristan and Evie walk away with everything that they want and more with getting to end up spending the rest of their lives together.
First let me say run and grab this book immediately. It was a great read and made me feel like I was watching a really great movie. It pulls you in and doesn’t let you go.
This is book 2 of the Gangland Hearts. (If you haven’t read book 1, you don’t need to but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT because its is a GREAT READ!). This books follows Tristan. He is the brother of the head of the Saoirse Family Empire (Irish Mafia essentially) in Boston. His family is in conflict with an old family friend who owes them money or the ownership of his Whiskey empire. After the events of Book 1. Tristan is a bit at odds so his brother and father ask him to go to Savannah and straighten out this delayed business deal. When he arrives he runs into his childhood friend Evie (the daughter of the man who owes his family money) all grown up. Eventually, because of the actions of Evie’s father, Tristan steps in to save her and proposes a marriage of convenience.
I know Tristian’s book would be good and it did not disappoint. You get some cameos from his family and I LOVE his mother in this book. What is the most surprising is Evie. Just when you think she is going to make a TSTL choice she surprises you with a super boss move. I love Evie. She’s is definitely Tristan’s match in every way. Loved this book. I can’t recommend it enough!!
* Genre: Contemporary Romance.🍂 * Format: Kindle. 📱 * Pages: 314.📖 * Audio Length: n/a. * Standalone or Series: Book 2: Gangland Hearts. 🥃 * Tropes: Dark Irish Mob, Marriage of Convenience, Friends to Lovers, Forced Proximity, Found Family, Touch Her & Die.🤞🏼 * Spice: 2. 💋
☠︎ Before Reading: “I know he’s protecting his own interests by protecting me, but it doesn’t matter. I’ve wanted him my whole life, and I’ll do whatever it takes to protect him right back. Because the queen’s the most powerful piece on the board.” And I ooop.🫢
☠︎ What I Liked: 🥋 The fight they get in with Cole.💀 🪴 He’s always there for her! 🥋 what Evie did for Tristan!🤫
☠︎ What I Didn’t Like: Evie's family is a piece of shit!!
☠︎ Overall: I enjoyed Tristan and Evie's story. The storyline is interesting. At first, I wasn't sure how the book would take off, though after reading it, it was much better than the first book of the series. I'm obsessed with how he always made sure Evie was good. That boy fell hard and harder.😭

Whiskey Kisses is the second book in the Gangland Hearts Trilogy and follows Tristan and Evie's story. Evie's father has some serious debt that he owes and is at risk of losing the family distillery but his plans to save himself and the business will mean some life changing plans for Evie. Tristan has come to town with his own plans of taking over the distillery and finds that Evie is need of help. Offering Evie a way out of her problems and keeping her safe comes easy for Tristan since they have known each other since they were kids. Evie may have had a crush on Tristan when they were children, but they are all grown up now and finding themselves under the same roof is bringing on feelings they may not be able to walk away from.
I love that Tristan has a soft side when it comes to Evie. Making sure Evie is safe and protected even though Evie is a tough independent woman and can handle herself Tristan is still there for her. I really liked this book and recommend reading it but definitely recommend reading the first book in this trilogy first.
Thank you, Rochelle Allison, for the ARC and I can't wait for the next book to come!
I have never been so resentful of having a job as I was when I had to put down this book down and go to work! This is the story of an Irish Mafia prince who is a prize winning fighter with a heart of gold (when it comes to his family), and a Georgia peach - whose father is a debt-ridden, morally starved whiskey distiller - and who is all southern beauty on the outside but has studied enough jujitsu to take down any man who puts an unwanted hand on her. How could I walk away from that to my life as an elementary school secretary?
These are characters that you root for with a story filled with twists that test every emotion! Having read the first book in this series I thought I was prepared for this book but I was surprised - over and over again! It is definitely character driven. Tristan is big, and burly and so tough and dangerous, but the author wraps us around her finger when we see into his past and to the "squishy" parts of him that most people don't see. I also love his family - blood and extended. They are such great, funny, loyal characters that you forget what they do for a living. I did NOT love Evie's family! She has had to become strong and take care of herself since no one else has ever done so. Their families were friends when they were kids, before her mom died and her world shattered but now, her father owes Tristan's family a lot of money and Tristan comes to Georgia to take the distillery from him in payment. The problem is that they are not the only ones he owes and the other crime family not only wants the distillery but they want Evie for their creepy, violent son! In fact, Tristan arrives just after Evie's father tells her that she is going to marry the creepy guy so his debts will be paid off, so Tristan proposes a marriage of convenience to himself instead. The rollercoaster ride starts right about there, so strap in and enjoy the ride!
The second book in the series and i loved every second of it. Tristan is recovering and is sent to acquire a distillery from an old family friend who is trying to get out of the deal. Evie Doyle is caught in the middle of all the drama and when she is put in a dangerous situation Tristan comes to her rescue. Evie has had a crush on Tristan since she was twelve,he never realised. Now they are married to help each other, she realises her feelings are still there. She knows she is not his type. As they spend time together and get to know each other,Tristan realises he wants Evie and his feelings for her are growing. There are ups and downs, danger, enemies, steam, drama, angst, emotions, cute cats, great friendships, romance and a happily ever after. Loved how Tristan was so protective of Evie and i love the Kellys and how they have each others backs. Cannot wait for Maeve's story. I recieved an ARC of this book for free via The Indie Pen PR and am voluntarily leaving my review.
This is the second book in this impressive series, and this is Tristan and Evie’s story. Tristan is tasked with taking over a distillery from a family friend as repayment of a debt, and Evie is the owner’s daughter whose father’s debts have left her with a predicament. Evie has a childhood crush on Tristan growing up, but he is nothing like the boy he used to be. Tristan is protective over Evie and is determined to help her when she is in danger. This is a well written story which is action packed, with family dynamics, friendships, self-confidence, loyalty, marriage of convenience, danger, suspense, intrigue, humor, witty banter, friends / lovers, forced proximity, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and unpredictable, dark mafia romance. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Evie is in trouble and so is her family's business but luckily Tristan is able to save them both through a marriage of convenience. Their previous friendship ignites something more which really made this story even better and more enticing. It was exciting and entertaining throughout the entire book. I could not put it down and absolutely enjoyed the read.
I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily leave this review.
Mafia-lite and even Irish mafia-lighter. I’m writing this review a few weeks post read and find that while entertaining at the time, it didn’t leave a lasting impression. MCs were cute together and there were no annoying characters or writing flaws. External plot mostly, with mild suspenseful elements. I think there was open door spice, but clearly not enough and nothing too memorable!
I love Rochelle’s writing. I’ve been a fan of hers for many years. Whiskey Kisses was amazing. I loved the connection between Tristan & Evie. I went blind going into the book, I didn’t even read the blurb. I was surprised by the turn of events in the story and it kept me invested.
