He's making a list, and he's checking it twice... You better hope you're not on the Naughty List.

Matthew Dante brings us a suitably creepy tale this holiday season for the O Deadly Night anthology Volume 3, a dark MM Charity Anthology which features several dark MM authors as they bring stories that will give us anything but a silent night, while donating all proceeds to Rainbow Railroad.

In The Naughty List, we meet David, who has just begun working at one of the toughest Psychiatric Hospital's in the country, which houses some of the most notorious serial killers ever caught in the United States.

But all is not what it seems within the halls of the hospital, and inmates are dying... is the man in the dark suit just a figment of a delusional imagination, or is there danger lurking in the halls?

And what about the hot Doctor Kole? Is he the man of David's dreams or his nightmares?

I thoroughly enjoyed this story from Matthew Dante. His stories grip you straight away, and he creates characters who live perfectly in the grey areas of life.

I found The Naughty List to be just the right amount of creepy and dark, whilst we had a little dusting of spice to make it perfect. I would happily read a full-length version of this story.

Don't miss this fantastic charity anthology, but be careful with your holiday wishes, you might get more than you bargained for...

The Last Noel
by Duckie Mack

I recently read a short story as part of a multi-author charity anthology that left a lasting impression. Noel, a man who has spent 10 years away from home, believing he is cursed due to the constant bad luck that surrounds him. Heartbroken and yearning to reconnect with his family, he decides to return home for Christmas, only to find that misfortune continues to follow him.

Along the way, Noel encounters a mysterious stranger, Keres, who is revealed to be a demon. As Noel shares his story, my heart truly broke for him. The depth of his pain and struggles was heartbreaking.

This isn't your typical fluffy holiday read—it’s dark. While I don’t think you can categorize it as having a traditional HEA, it left me with questions and a longing for more of Noel’s story. The writing was compelling, and I look forward to reading the other stories in this anthology.

I received an advance review copy of this story and am voluntarily leaving this review.

One of the best anthologies I have ever read. Discovered several new authors and one of my favorites, D.O. Carothers also contributed a story from the T.A.G. Assassins world. Very satisfying reading.

Suuuuper creepy demon romance by Duckie!
For the past decade, Noel has been a danger magnet. Everywhere he goes, people get hurt, buildings collapse, cars crash, fires start. Determined not to be a threat to his loved ones, Noel leaves home and his family to try to keep them safe. But the catastrophes don’t stop, and Noel can’t find a safe place unless it’s completely alone.
After another harrowing event, Noel is approached by a gorgeous man who looks like no one he’s ever seen. Keres is a demon, and Noel doesn’t know how this could possibly be a safe situation. He soon discovers that Keres could be the protector he needs to live a normal life again.
Thanks so much to Duckie for this arc!

Full disclosure, I typically read lighter, fluffier stories so I probably won't read more than the one contribution to this anthology, especially since it's not in KU (sorry!), though there are some great authors listed. I do sometimes dip my toes in the water of something a little darker, especially when it's by an author I'm already familiar with, so when Duckie offered an ARC of The Last Noel I jumped at the chance as I've read several of her stories and always enjoyed them.

(1) The Last Noel by Duckie Mack (October 20th) - 3.5 lumps of coal
1st person, past tense, single POV (Noel - aside from a page from Keres's POV)
Noel (26), cursed human
Keres, greater demon

For the past ten years Noel's constantly been in the wrong place at the wrong time, too many times for it to be mere coincidence so he keeps his distance from others, including his own family.

This was a pretty heavy read as Noel has been through the wringer, he's starved - of affection, companionship, and often quite literally. My poor tender heart absolutely bled for him and had a difficult time with reconciling how he's been able to last for ten years with death and destruction following him like a dark cloud. Naturally, he has attracted the attention of dark entities who feast on the carnage left in his wake.

Keres is one such creature, a greater demon, whose curiosity is piqued by Noel. As Noel makes his way home for Christmas at the behest of his long estranged mother he and Keres strike up a friendship that deepens quickly to something more. At long last Noel can relax his guard and cease merely surviving.

With a rather abrupt ending it's hard to qualify this as having an HEA, though the groundwork has been laid for such. I needed a little more time with Noel not existing in such a desperate, dark place to really feel content with the resolution of this story.

I was given an ARC and voluntarily wrote an honest review.

A DELICIOUSLY DARK AND THRILLING ANTHOLOGY WITH STORIES THAT ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD!

I, hands down, thoroughly enjoyed each story and also got to read stories from new authors. Please do mind the triggers.

A Past Too Broken.
Intriguing story that kept me on my toes. I was hooked from the start. Zayid and Minato, holy wowzers!

The Naughty List.
It's a different kind of read. The characters and story definitely had me wanting to know what was going to happen next, and simply was an awesome page-turner. David and Kole are explosive together.

You're Mine.
A world wind of a story. Shura and Cormac are very interesting. Well written and really good read.

All is Calm.
I really enjoyed Ethan and Daniel. It is a very entertaining and interesting read.

Hear My Plea.
It is an intensely awesome and fantastic read. Lucas and Vernimer are so amazing, and I loved their story!

Hostage.
I really enjoyed the writing and story. The characters are interesting (Kira and Ren), and I really liked them.

The Boys.
Oh, this story is so good. Loved Caleb and Syd so much. Things are definitely not what is seems with this read and was a definite page turner.

Bloody Elves.
Definitely a different and unique take of Santa and his elves. Peppermint is something else, and I just liked the heck out of this story. Very original.

Dark Resolution.
Ooh a great and dark intriguing read. Micah has a very interesting time with a computer game. I definitely liked it a lot!!

Santa Claus Lane
This read is a dark delight. I really loved Lincoln and Tristan and their twisted story.

The Last Noel.
It was a dark and wicked read. Poor Noel has the worst luck, I really liked this character. Noel meets Keres, and these two are so excellent. Really enjoyed very much!

Grab your teddy protector, your flashlight, and your backbone
Because you are going to need them!
These are not your everyday holiday happily ever after romances
From the lowest pits of despair to the darkest of deeds comes hope in the most surprising of ways.

This is packed with page after page of slightly twisted, oh-so-sinful dark tales
Each having one form or another of a HEA - Perspective is important here people

I have purchased this every year. Not only are the tales entertaining but I also get to find new authors to add to my must-read lists
A little warning the anthology is packed with evil deeds, sins, crimson splatter, high heat smexy, and questionable acts

For those who have triggers, you may want to pass or holiday season and all, gift it to a friend.
And NO throwing of the reading devices, you will need them for all the new authors you discover

A Past too Broken by Abrianna Denae
I was happy to be able to read this one. This book takes place over a year. Zitad is an assassin who is waiting on his mark. Before he can take a shot, someone else enters the scene and takes care of it. Pissed off, he asks his handler to find out who it was. When he finds out is Min, he is the lookout for him. When he finds him, he takes him to a location to find out why he is taking his marks. Nothing is said though. Fast forward 6 months and Min is set to take care of his last one. When he gets injured, he calls Ziyad for help. After finding out what happened, they take care of the last one of Min’s list. This was a quick read with sparks between the 2 MC’s. Cannot wait to see what happens next.

3.5 rounded up to 4 stars

Not bad as anthologies go. I didn’t dislike any story in particular. Although naturally I liked some more than others.
All very short stories but complete enough not to leave you wanting.

3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

O Deadly Night Volume 3 is a dark MM charity anthology that is donating proceeds to Rainbow Railroad. There are 11 stories from different authors included in this volume. My ratings and/or reviews for each story:

A Past Too Broken by Abrianna Denae ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I really enjoyed reading this one. It reminds me of a cross between The Hitman’s Guide books and the Necessary Evil books.
Zayid kills for a living and Minato has been killing for revenge. For a while they have this fun game between each other until it becomes them helping one another. Cute, fun, quick and with a Christmas murder.

The Naughty List by Matthew Dante ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

You’re Mine by D.G. Carothers⭐️⭐️💫
The first chapter of this hooked me in. Shura/Javier was a likable character, there was murder and there was humor. The chapters that proceeded were kind of boring. A lot of inner dialogue and descriptions of where people were or what they were doing. A huge detail dump. The story then ended abruptly.
I don’t think this one worked so well as a short. Probably would have been good as a novella or short book.

All is Calm by Medusa Stone
Decided to stop reading this one in the middle of chapter 2. Just wasn’t for me in this moment.

Hear My Plea by RS McKenzie
Stopped reading around Chapter 4. Some editing errors and it felt like its main focus was sex. Not for me at the moment.

Hostage by Naomi Aoki
Stopped reading as of Chapter 2. Editing issues and I lost my focus.

The Boys by BL Maxwell ⭐️

Bloody Elves by Bey Deckard ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“Each and every one of you are special. But yes, you were created to work. Without work, you don’t have any real function or meaning.”

Dark Resolution by K.L. Hiers ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was the perfect mix of horror, dark, sweet and spicy. It really pulls you in from start to finish.

Santa Claus Lane by Mozzarus Scout ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This story was the reason I bought this volume in the first place. The author had shared a snippet of their story on one of the FB book groups and it sounded so good. I was sold.
It definitely didn’t disappoint. Santa Claus Lane has murder, mayhem, ghosts and of course jolly good times.
Although, I am very curious what happened to Mr. Claus. Did they just leave him bound and gagged in the sleigh? 🤔

The Last Noel by Duckie Mack ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thanks you for the ARC, I voluntarily give it an honest review. A multi author layered thriller. When the monsters aren't always the what you think, this holiday read will put you in the chilling mood for a horror filled Christmas. Sometimes it's not all about the monster's we're told to fear, as many of these characters learn.

A Past Too Broken, brings us into a new and tingly starter series by Abrianna Denae:  I laughed way to hard when Molly and Min had called the other a twink, like nietyer show tueir self that way.  it sounds like a twisted joke but to Zayid it was far from that. As an assassin to lose his target all because of a sneaky little up start. I giggled so much from Minato's antics at the start, because that was pure sass blowing a kiss. When Zayid catches him it's going to be fireworks. Bloody Elves by Bey Deckard: Who would have thoughts evles would need to fear anything at the North Pole. You're Mine by D.G.Carothers: Sexy time between a an assassin and the law.Sent away to cool his heels, Shura had chosen New Mexico. Cormac gettig called out for a homicide was about to cross paths with a man on a mission for revenge..and just maybe have his secret Dark Resolution by K.L. Hiers. If Caleb did his girlfriend even a smeg of the way he treats Micah then no wonder he is now an EX, what a a$$. It's just hilarious that's Micah is blaming the apple juice on the visitor/visions. Poor Brad was so looking forward to that game but now that boy will be scarred..I'm telling ya!

And many more by Matthew Dante: Duckie Mack: BL Maxwell: Medusa Stone: Mozzarus Scout: Naomi Aoki: RS McKenzie:

👉🏼 My review is for A Past too Broken by Abrianna Denae

One night on a job Zayid is caught off guard by a mystery man that’s about to make his life a tad more difficult at times. He trusts very little besides his fur baby, Reggie, but once he gets to know Minato that changes. This is a great, quick read that I hope to get more of in the future. 🖤🔥🩸🔥🖤

My favorite quote:

🔹 Min: Zay’s shoulder length, curly brown hair is loose and damp, as if he’d gotten out of the shower recently, the sight of him in gray sweatpants and a black T-shirt sell the theory. The clothes also outline how fucking hot he is.

🔹 Zay: he looks up at me, the ire of the nickname dissipating from his eyes, while something akin to lust takes it place.
