Ashley wants nothing more than to be taken seriously as a superhero--she can't help it that things don't always go as planned! And when the Teen Titans roll into town chasing after their infamous nemesis, Deathstroke, Ashley will put her powers to the test to prove that Primer has what it takes to join the team.
Primer meets the Teen Titans in a DC Comics crossover. Ashley gives off supreme "notice me, sempai" vibes, and she keeps popping up in the middle of Teen Titan missions, eager to help. Kind of like an annoying younger sister. They aren't impressed.
I think my favorite part may be the beautiful patterns Ashley uses when painting herself. Sure you could just splash that stuff around, and it'd work. But she has style. (Too bad her new costume cancels that out.)
Primer returns! As do the Teen Titans of the early 2000s tv show! I love to see them all. The art is beautiful and fun. Ashley is such an interesting character. This issue set up a lot of really interesting conflicts. I could still be wrong about the twist, but if I’m right about where it’s headed, it’s a little bit predictable if you know anything about certain comic characters. The target audience for this book is kids, though, so it shouldn’t be a problem for them. I love to recommend Primer to kids, friends, and other librarians/trainees, so I’m looking forward to the collected sequel issues making their way to library shelves in the future.
