Witches of Triora: The Vessel
ARC Review
By: Jessica Ann Disciacca
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5
Spice: 🌶️🌶️

Jessica Ann Disciacca does not disappoint! I wasn’t sure where I stood on witches but you will for sure see me read more books involving them! We start out thinking that Seren is destined to become a nun. That’s all she wanted in life. She has Polio.. or so we believe. The nuns help her as much as they can with her medicine and teas but she’s feeling polio take over her body. She soon figures out that she never had Polio. The sisters were feeding her poison! This is a rollercoaster of events that isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

The world building in this book is phenomenal to put it lightly. The characters are so easy to fall in love with. Jessica has a way of making you feel all the feels (in a good way). This book had me laughing, crying, yelling.... well, I just felt all of the emotions, and by the end of it, I was craving more. I can't wait for the next book in the series. Witches of Triora is definitely going to remain in my top books of 2024!

✨✨ARC Review :✨✨
First off thank you Jessica & Asturian House Press for allowing me to read this book early and send me a free ebook copy in return for my thoughts.
My thoughts:
I was introduced to Jessica Ann Disciacca's writing as an ARC reader for her debut novel, 'Awakening the Dark Throne'.
Instantly loved that book and gave it a five stars. I lost many hrs of sleep over it. However, for Witches of Triora: The Vessel, it was not an immediate five stars for me. While I did thoroughly enjoy the book and am very angry about the suspenseful ending (Jessica, I'm going to need #2 for both series ASAP) something just felt + off *r to me. (I also want to preface quickly I am not comparing this book to AtDT.) It felt like a lot was jam packed into the first book and while you are highly looking forward to the second due to the ending, it almost felt like more should've been left to be discovered in book 2. There were a few times I thought that maybe the book would've been ending soon because I heard a few fellow ARC readers discussing that it ended on a cliffhanger but then it didn't. This may all and all be a personal preface and just my two cents after all.
About the actual book however....
I wanted to reach in and smack the FMC at least a couple of times. Especially throughout the first big thing in the beginning. By the end however, I liked her a lot more and turned my hatred to somebody else®• (A)
I also definitely went through MANY emotions as I went through this book and switched between which lover I liked best, who I trusted and who I didn't, and just UGH so many emotions. A few times I can easily say I simply felt unwell * but in a good way. Overall, I did really love Witches of Triora: The Vessel. I gave it four stars but in the end I feel like, if permitted, I would've bumped it to probably like 4.5. The half star only being taken away because while I enjoyed the plot, I felt like there was some that could’ve been explained a little more and left trailing into a second book. However, now referencing the title again I can see maybe more of why Jessica chose to write in such a way.

Side eye to the original reviews getting taken down👀

I thought I was prepared for the emotional roller coaster and potential heart break… but nothing prepared me for the twists and turns of this story. I thought I saw the writing on the wall of what was to come… but that writing was completely misleading and boy was I in for a surprise. Thank you Jessica Ann Disciacca for this amazing story!

We first meet Seren, an orphan who was raised in an abbey and who is inflicted with Polio and lives with its debilitating effects daily. The disease seems to be advancing causing Seren to need more of the medicine that the Sisters give her… but we soon find that not all is as it seems. Seren isn’t just a normal girl… but a witch, a powerful one, from a powerful and revered family. Seren’s world is turned upside down as she learns of and meets her family, begins to train and come into her powers. But dark magic and dark witches threaten to take everything that she has newly found and fell in love with. Can Seren come into her powers and face the evil threatening her new found life and the entire world as she knows it? Can Seren embrace her destiny to save the witch covens or will the desires of her heart get in way?

In this story you’ll find love, heartbreak, betrayal, mystery, enchanting magic and so much more. You will not want to miss this one…

2024:
This book brought all the feels.
You're happily trudging along with the story and then events get turned on their head.
There are so many unexpected twists and turns.
An amazing Frenemies to Lovers story that you think you can predict, and then BAM and then BAM AGAIN!
I did not at all see that ending happening the way it did. I had to read it more than once to make sure the things I was reading were actually happening.
I absolutely cannot wait to read book 2, for the adventure to continue and to get some eagerly awaited for answers.

Witches of Triora is the 1st book in a new , astounding romantasy series with an addictive story and a massive cliffhanger that's gonna leave you reeling for hours !

The story revolves around the FMC ( Serene ) but truth be told , I will not go into details about her , because I feel everything is a spoiler..
All I can say is that you are gonna fall in love with Serene , you will laugh with her , cry with her , fall in love along side her , feel her pain, her happiness, her betrayal and you won't even realise, ull be at the last page left absolutely shell shocked .

Her story has been written very beautifully, with an amazing character development and the most beautiful emotional journey.🥹🫶🏻

I am still not sure who the MMC is (considering there are multiple SEXY love interests).. but ahh do I love both the men soo much !! Again I don't wana spoil anything so I'll be waiting for you to read the book and then discuss about the hotness that they are 🔥
(I am rooting for one of them, cz they give me Rhysand's vibes , and I am a sucker for that ❤️‍🔥).

And the plot .. CHEF'S KISS 🤌🏻 The way the author weaves the story , you feel you are in that world, you'll be feeling one emotion at the moment and BAMMM *jaw-dropping-plot-twist * , which will leave you STUPEFIED!!! And believe me there are so many of them , u better not be drinking coffee / water at the moment, cz it's gonna come out of ur nose for Sure 😋😋

And don't even get me started on the cliffhanger! I made the mistake of finishing this book before bed , and I could NOT sleep for 2 hours after that , coz I was reeling so bad !

I canNOT wait for the next book

Thank you sooo much Jessica Ann Disciacca and Asturian House Press for this amazing opportunity to be a part of ur ARC team💜

I LOVED this book so much that I immediately purchased my trophy copy upon finishing. This was UNPUTDOWNABLE! I can’t even begin to describe how it made me feel. I spent the majority of my time all choked up over the emotional relationship building and found family aspect. Seren’s growth from a sickly young woman in a nunnery to a strong, confident, and LOVED De Salvo Witch was one of my favorite things. Her character is so relatable and the banter was seriously cracking me up! I am a sucker for good banter. Her nonna was a force to reckon with and the familial support was beautiful!

Now, admittedly, I didn’t realize there would be a love triangle in this and let me tell you, I am so torn! 😭 Tony and Orion are both so perfect in their own ways. The longing is utterly overwhelming and heartbreaking. ❤️‍🩹 I couldn’t even begin to make a choice between the two. I’ve never read a “Why Choose?” but I sure do wish this leaned that way because @authorjessicaanndisciacca has done an amazing job of emotionally tying you to BOTH! The tension, romance and spice are everything between these three! “Touch Her and D!e” is my favorite Romantasy Trope and the way these men want to fight for her… 🔥

If you are a fan of the shadow daddies of ACOTAR, From Blood and Ash, or Flesh and Fire, then I highly recommend this book! 🖤

I’m a romance reader, so I really focus on those aspects in my reviews. Don’t let that deter you, though. This story is so much more than that. There is a political aspect, war of good vs. evil, betrayal, brutal deaths, and twists and turns!

That cliffhanger ending is a Killer! I have never needed a sequel so badly in my life. 👀 Get this book!

Jessica really has a way with beginning a story that just automatically captivates you. Within the second chapter I knew this was going to be another great beginning to a series.

The plot is so interesting I loved that we start somewhere else and then pretty soon after we get thrown into a completely different world. This story is so fast paced and will keep you guessing through it all.  I did notice while I was reading that there was crazy foreshadowing and easter eggs carefully placed throughout that was leading up to the ultimate plot twist. (The audacity to do us like that @authorjessicaanndisciacca but it's fine).

I really enjoyed the character development in this book. We had a girl who had her whole life mapped out for her and in an instant her world is flipped upside down when she finds out shes a Witch. The more I got to know Seren the more I loved her and how she evolved into this badass character we all were rooting for. I loved the family development throughout the book, reading and watching Seren finally have her people and somewhere she belonged made my heart feel good. But can we talk about that LOVE TRIANGLE though.. Ugh hurt so good. I still don't know who I'm rooting for there and I don't think I'll be able to until book two.

Jessica is the type of author that when she releases a new book, you know you're in for a wild ride and this book was NO exception. I had such a good time reading this and I can't wait for more to come.

If you like Witches, found family, and a badass FMC who finds her inner power with a fast paced, throat gripping story, this is the one.

thank you so much for letting me read it early, I can't wait for the next one!

In love with this plot!

They say you can’t judge a book by its cover, but the cover of “Witches of Triora: The Vessel” is beautiful & intricate, & the story is too. There were breadcrumbs littered throughout the book from the very beginning, some that you don’t even realize are there until the very end of the book! I wasn’t sure the FMC’s (Seren) quick character development towards the beginning of the book was realistic, but as the story progressed the pieces started to fall into place & the true mastery of Jessica Ann Disciacca’s intricate plot was revealed. I loved Disciacca’s portrayal of the fated mates trope. It was messy & complicated & heart-wrenching. The pacing of the book was great, as was the spicy slow burn payoff. One of my very favorite parts of the book was the genuine love & affection Seren found in her family. After facing such trauma & broken trust, it was beautiful to see just how healing true kindness & love from her family was for Seren. I also enjoyed the juxtaposition of how when push came to shove, one MMC’s love for Seren displayed as empowerment & the other MMC’s love displayed as possession. The twists at the end were spectacular & the cliff hanger left me breathless. I ended up finishing this book in less than 24 hours, as I struggled to put it down, & I am already salivating for book 2!

This was my first encounter with Jessica's work, and it certainly didn't disappoint. I was gifted the ARC, and I was really excited about it, especially after reading some of the reviews here and from people whose opinions I trust.

Witches of Triora: The Vessel is Book 1 in this new romantasy series. It is set in modern-day Italy, fast-paced and full of actions and emotions. I found myself not wanting to put the book down. The story is exciting and filled with unexpected twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat.

We follow Seren, a girl raised by nuns, whose life is shattered to its core as everything she thought she knew turns out false. Seren is no orphan plagued with sickness; she is a descendant of a powerful witch family. We witness Seren finally learning the truth and getting to know the family she never knew existed; we see her exploring the world and everything it offers, good and bad. We witness Seren learning to navigate people and their emotions and learning to hone the power and magic that lies within. And we see her experience love.

But there is a dark force looming over the world, a coven dealing with dark magic threatening the existence of everyone around Seren. Apart from that, Seren will have to learn that not everything is as it seems, and she will have to deal with pain, hurt, anger, and betrayal. Ultimately, she will have to choose and forge her own path; what will it be?

While much is revealed in this first instalment, I feel there is so much more coming, and I cannot wait to read the sequel and see what Jessica has in store for us!

Witches of Triora: The Vessel will gift you
- fast-paced urban romantasy
- witches and warlocks
- hidden identities
- secrets and betrayals
- coming into one's power
- chosen one
- fated mates
- found family
and so much more!

A huge shoutout and thanks to Jessica for giving me an ARC of this amazing book!

This book is an entrancing story about magic, family, love, secrets, and so much more.

Seren, thought to be orphaned, grows up in the Montecassino Abbey in the care of nuns. Here, Seren suffers the effects of Polio, which consists of constant pain and other symptoms, which the nuns try to aid in limiting her suffering with injections. A shocking truth, however, is revealed when Seren learns that her illness is not real, but rather a cover-up for her true heritage, that being a witch from an extremely powerful family of witches. Reunited with her family in the world of Triora, Seren learns of new love, new desires, and comes into her power. But there are still secrets surrounding her and with darkness and war looming in the distance, Seren faces many hard choices while she tries to discover the truth and stop the war of the evil witches.

I devoured this book! From the beginning of the story, I was hooked. There is so much world-building and yet so much more to come. The hidden secrets that are woven through the story and that begin to unravel and reveal create a much deeper plot which made for such a captivating story and left me wanted more and has me on the edge of my seat for book 2.

The love interests in this book are swoon-worthy. I have my favorite, but you'll have to decide for yourself. I can't wait to see who she ends up with in the future books. The spice is just the right amount in this book. There are so many cute scenes between the MMCs and Seren. There is so much romance and banter that made me smile and chuckle while reading. There's a real building of relationships. In addition to romantic love, Seren also has incredible relationships she builds with her long lost family. She is incredibly compassionate, protective, and loving.

The characters of this story are so lovable. They are well-built and continue to grow and I cannot wait to see where the next book takes them.

As for the plot and villains of the story. The author paints a terrifying picture of the evil witches known as the obsidian. They are bone-chilling creatures who harness dark magic and take the lives of the innocent. But not everyone is as they seem. The war between the obsidian witches and the seven covens of witches threatens everyone's safety. This story keeps you constantly guessing and I was never bored.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys witches, magic, romance, and the tropes below.

Tropes:

• Witches
• Magic
• Family reunited
• Found power
• Romance
• Multiple MMC love interests
• Evil witches

My Review •

15 pages in and I have already been cured of my reading slump. I have not wanted to read much for two weeks or so and I consumed this book as fast as I could and need more immediately.

The relationships, bond, family love, and trust built in this book was so poetic….poetic to the point of tears, until I started rage crying instead around page 227, 249, and 257. Those pages BROKE something within me that was built while reading this book. Page 257 terrified me and I shut off my kindle the second I finished the page. I truly had to take some grounding breaths to make sure I was ready to continue reading.

I have read many books, but the nickname created in this book has easily climbed to being in my top 3 nicknames.

I am blown away at Jessica’s ability to lead you one way in a book and then throw you a heart shattering twist and then keep an unbelievably strong intensity right to the very last page.

Also, just like Awakening The Dark Throne…I am slightly perturbed at your ability to create FRUSTRATINGLY good cliff hangers on the very last page. Next book please. I am in dire need of finding out what happens now.

Well Jessica, you did it again! I’m not surprised, but thank you for giving us yet another amazing series/ book! This is her second series, her first book is called Awakening The Dark Throne and it is also a 5⭐️ book that I’m obsessed with! Go read that one now!

I loved everything about this book! I love the world she creates with the witches in Triora! I love that she weaves religion into the book, and that the witches aren’t evil but simply like everyone else, there’s good and bad in every city/ culture! The multiple characters Jessica makes you care about and love! Best supporting role… Nonna! She’s so funny and the banter with her and everyone else is just top notch!

Let me now tell you about the MEN 👏🏻 There are two men (Antonio & Orion) vying for our leading lady, Seren’s heart which is amazing considering she was once going to be a nun! They are both so hot, but I’m team Orion (probably because he’s the more taller, body built like a god one! Sort of kidding but his personality has me hooked! 😝)

This book transports you to Triora, Italy where you meet a coven of witches. Seren was orphaned and left at the Abbey to be taken care of by the nuns. She spent her whole life being crippled by polio and serving the Lord. Until one day dark creatures attack the abbey killing everyone inside. A mysterious man saves Seren right before she meets her death.

The next thing she knows she is woken up and everything she thought she knew about her life turns upside down! She never had polio it turns out, but the nuns were poisoning her to prevent her from coming into her powers, because oh yeah Seren is a witch! Not just any witch, but from one of the most powerful witch family lines. In fact her cousin is slated to become the reincarnated moon goddess! She now has her body back, and a family as she navigates a life and love she never knew she’d have.

Jessica…THAT ENDING!! You are the queen of cliff hangers over here ms ma’am! I want so many answers and I know I can’t have them yet. My emotions are all over the place, confusion being one of them! I enjoyed this book so much! The plot was easy to follow; world building was descriptive and I understood most of it! Easter eggs planted everywhere, definitely a reread in the future for me because I don’t want to miss a thing for the next book!
I loved all the things about the characters that we met in this book, the sense of family was HUGE and I drank it up! I loved the Italian setting and our FMC loves to cook! Our sort of Love triangle between our MC and FMC has my emotions all over the place. Heart completely torn.

Do not remain calm and pre-order this book! You don’t want to miss out on this refreshing new series from this author! Definitely a modern setting and not your typical mid-evil time witches. This book is full of emotions and it makes you feel as if you were there right along with the characters and the setting.

I received this wonderful novel as an ARC read from the author and Asturian Press in exchange for an honest review; all views are told as mine. Jessica thank you so much for allowing me to review this book ahead of the release day, and writing this story! I can’t wait to read the next installment of this series! WOW WOW!

“You were a peace I had searched my entire life for. You were my hope of a love and life worth living. You were the purity that lit the way in our dark and unforgiving world. And you were a promise that I would never have to walk through this life alone again. You are my destiny, Seren. With or without the
prophecy, I loved you from the first moment and I will love you till the last."

Oh Jessica what have you done to me, THIS BOOK!!! I started reading the author earlier this year and she has easily become one of my favorites. This book was so good! When I started reading I was a little thrown off because most fantasy I read isn’t set in the modern world but I loved it!I fell in love with this world the author created and her characters. I love when a book has great side characters and this one does. The author had a was of sucking you into the story to where you feel like you are experiencing it all with them. I really loved Seren, she had such a rough start in like but bounced back where others wouldn’t have. This book has a love triangle so be warned. It was also the first time I feel like I’m loving the good guy instead of the bad boy! Nonna is a spit fire and I loved her character as head of the family. The cliffhanger will have you yelling and needing the second book immediately! If you life magic, witches, gods, fated mates, hidden powers, and love triangles then make sure to check this out!

This book is so, so good. It has witches, otherworldly creatures, love, heartbreak, intrigue, secrets, curses, reuniting with lost family, and morally grey characters. Seren's story begins in a convention, where she believes she is living with a debilitating disease and plans to live out her life as a nun in thanks for them taking her in and raising her when she was orphaned as a baby. After a supernatural attack on the convent she discovers she is not sick, that her disease was manufactured by the nuns, and that she is descended from a long line of powerful witches. Seren must learn how to be independent, defend herself and wield her magic if she is to help her family in the war that is brewing. Along the way she comes into her rare power, finds her first love, faces betrayal from those she trusted the most and finds comfort in the arms of someone she didn't see coming. It is an exciting and emotional whirlwind of a second novel by Jessica Ann Disciacca, who has become one of my favorite authors. The book is available now, do yourself a favor and get lost in her magical world. This was another GREAT read. I loved how Seren’s life became a little better than it was at the beginning. She learned about herself so much and became a better and powerful person. The only downfall was that she was stuck in between two that wanted her. The emotions & heartbreak got me. I didn’t know what I wanted for Seren. But loved how her story with Tony was. The plot twists in the book really got me this time. It was like a double whammy plot twist IMO.
(A little spoiler) --> I certainly didn’t expect her mother to pop up in the story, so I really thought her aunt betrayed her but I was wrong; glad she didn’t.

Couldn't put it down!

I devoured this book! I love the way she pulls on religions in her writing but never favors a specific one. I really wanted to reach out and shake Serenity more than a few times and felt so connected with her emotions. I don't want to lie, I am team the other guy. I don't want to spoil anything and say a name. I know you are supposed to like the sweet, loving, perfect man, but how boring is that? Lol! There were a good amount of typos in the book that could easily be fixed with a round of editing. The story is so good, though, that it didn't deter me from finishing. Without the typos, this book would have been a 5 star read for me. The cliffhanger left me needing to know more!!! I can't wait to find out what happens next!

Note: I received an Advanced Reader Copy in return for an honest review of the book.

4.5 ⭐️ rounded up. So easy to get lost in this world. A romance heavy Romantasy story that will have you rooting for the main character and crying with her.
Barely set this one down and will now be sitting not so patiently for the next installment of the series.
The first 15% was a little rough given the way her story has to start but overall really enjoyed this story.

where the hell do i even begin? THAT ENDING. i think i need a second to process! BRB.

this story had such an amazing pace from the beginning and the last 100 pages were 😳😳 and that cliff hanger?!🤯

nope. i need the second book NOW.

the characters are simply beautiful. you can feel the love and emotion that went into each one. Frankie is probably my favorite - she’s absolutely a badass. Nonna is close second favorite with her mother bear instincts and love for the family. at times i wanted to throw my kindle and found myself yelling at Seren. lol. i was actually kind of pissed off at that little dream at the end - yeah. THAT one. i absolutely LOVE Orion and all he embodies. i usually find my likeness to fall more for the morally grey, but Orion is just perfection.👌🏽

this story has action, love, intensity, betrayal, beauty, heartbreak, and even horror (those Obsidian witches were described so well it was actually kind of scary. think: the grudge meets zombie) there’s such wonder in the way every emotion hits you and it hits hard af.

thank you so much, Jessica, for letting me read this. chef’s kiss once again.🤌🏽💋

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Witches of Triora: The Vessel
Author: Jessica Disciacca

The Vessel is a new modern world witch series. This is the 1st book in the series. It’s an amazing Romantasy book. You will be all in your feels in this book! You will laugh, cry, feel betrayed, and share happiness with FMC Serene. Serene was raised by nuns, and will have to embrace her new destiny. Serene learns to grow her powers and navigate this new dangerous world. She has 2 MMC’s that are deliciously 🥵 hot. Just when you think you know where the story is going… 💥plot twist! This beauty ends in a cliffhanger and you will be dying for more!! I highly recommend this beautiful book! 💜

I usually give a character break down, but that would be a spoiler… you will enjoy the journey, world building, magic, and so much more!

🔮Witches (Some Evil ones too)
✨God and Goddesses
🖤Demons
🔺Love triangle
💜Secrets

(WOT) Witches of Triora: The Vessel is a phenomenal first book in this modern fantasy trilogy.

Taking place in Italy, follow Seren as she embarks on a journey from invalid nun-in-training to a powerful and sexy witch.

WOT is filled with so many fav tropes and content: love triangles, powerful FMC, fated mates, betrayal, her first time, unlimited wealth, forbidden love, magic, spice, and heart break…to name a few. :)

This book was captivating and hard to put down. I absolutely neglected my real life while reading this.

If you love darkness, fantasy, coming into power, female leads, and beautiful writing…then this gem is for you!!

Overall rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

I can’t wait for the next one!!

This story follows Seren, an orphan girl on her way to becoming a nun. Only to learn she is a witch. She must now train and grow in physical strength but emotional strength to wild her magic.

There were times I was yelling at her, to pick up the clues around her and figure out some of the amazing foreshadowing laid out. But again, she wasn’t raised on riddles and secrets. So I gave her the benefit of the doubt.

It’s an amazing start to this series 4.5⭐️/5

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️ Moderately spicy

- INTENSE love triangle
- growing into her powers
- witchy mafia
- ITALY and all the Italian things
- swoony MMCs
- fated mates
- BETRAYAL
- Wealth and power and covens
- TWISTS ON TWISTS
- good pacing
- HEARTBREAK
- book one of a series

WOW. THAT ENDING. I didn’t expect that in the LEAST. I like this universe a lot, it’s full of witchy things, but make it modern and with a mafia twist, all set in Italy. The FMC is a nun in the beginning, suffering from intense pain before being found by her coven and family. Lost as an infant, she hasn’t had training with her magic and was drugged for years. When she’s brought to her wealthy and powerful family, she starts to unearth some serious stuff alongside her gorgeous companion and friend, Tony, who is patient and sweet and also did I mention handsome? My favorite guy in introduced, a God and warrior named Orion with his own secrets and skills and teeeeension. I liked the pacing, I liked the characters, I liked the world and can see a lot happening in book 2 that I know will take my breath away!

Seren is raised in an abby in Italy. She is raised believing she has polio and when the abby is attacked she is rescued by a man who takes her to learn her true heritage. She meets family she didn’t know she had and finds her people. She falls in love and truly comes into her own. I loved this story and couldn’t put the book down. The world was rich with history and well thought out. it ends on a small cliff hanger and I can’t wait to see what happens next. I think the main couple have great potential.

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/🌶🌶🌶
Hidden magic, fated mates, slow burn, world building, plot heavy romantasy, Witches of Triora checks all the boxes! This story is heartwarming and heartbreaking all at the same time. I couldn't put it down and I need the next book like yesterday! The spice was delicious and the romance was to die for. I can't wait for what's to come for Seren and the Witches of Triora.

What an exciting book! There’s so much to unpack here and I don’t want to spoil it. Set in Italy, Seren is living in a convent in Italy under the belief that she’s an orphan with polio. Her life dramatically changes and she discovers her identity. This book has it all-magic, witches, goddesses and gods, fated mates, betrayal, found family and sacrifice. There’s some wild paranormal subversion plot going on as well. This was a really fun read and the ending had me jaw dropped. I’m going to need more!
