When a grumpy SEAL meets a beautiful recluse with a tragic past, hearts unite amidst hidden danger…
When Navy SEAL—CASPER—Caspian Taylor returns to Harland County, he’s ready for some much-needed downtime. But rest isn’t on the horizon when he meets the sarcastic and reclusive Harper Quinn, cousin to his brother’s girlfriend. Harper has just moved to town to escape a past that haunts her, diving into her passion for restoring furniture to find some semblance of peace. But her new beginning is disrupted by a series of unwanted ‘gifts’ left on her doorstep and in her workshop.
Harper Quinn never expected that restoring her great-grandmother’s desk would lead to uncovering a hidden diary, much less one that echoes her own traumatic past. As she reads the haunting entries, she finds herself pulled into a web of secrets that refuse to stay buried. When strange and disturbing notes start appearing, Harper’s resilience is tested. Initially hesitant to involve Cas, she soon realizes she can’t face this alone. As they work together to uncover the truth, Harper must confront her past and her fear of depending on others, all while navigating the undeniable attraction she feels toward Cas—a man who might just be the key to her healing.
With their bond strengthening, they face the shadows of Harper’s past and the dangers lurking in the present.
It’s all my mother’s fault. She read to me when I was little and sparked my imagination. Now, my mind is the limit, and believe me, there’s no limit to my mind.
Hello, I’m Donna Michaels, NYT & USA Today Bestselling Award winning author of Romaginative fiction. I write romance through the H’s—Hot, Humorous, Heartwarming, with strong alpha cowboys and military men who are equally matched by their heroines.
With a husband retired from the military and now working at a brewery, four children, 2 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, several rescued cats, and my parents living with us, I never run out of material. From short to epic, my books entertain readers across a variety of sub-genres, and one has even been hand drawn into a Japanese Translation. Now, if only I could read it…
This is book fourteen in The HC Heroes series and it is Cas and Harper’s story. Cas was a navy seal but now retired and back in his hometown so now him and his brother Dale who had also retired are both at a family and friends celebration after there father survived a serious accident but when Harper arrived Cas was curious about what had brought her back home and she was also so guarded as if she had gone through something traumatic and had secrets especially as she always used to be so bright, sassy, sweet and full of life so now he wanted to know what had changed her so much. Harper had just moved back to her hometown where her cousin lived and she was glad to be back especially after everything that she had gone through and now trust and putting herself in a vulnerable position was not on the cards for her so now her woodworking was her therapy because it kept her busy while taking her mind off things but then she found a diary in her great grandmothers which seemed to hold a mystery that Harper wanted to solve even though at time it made her feel uncomfortable and unsettled but she didn’t know why. When Harper and Cas started to spend time together the attraction, chemistry and connection between them became stronger and then the threats started to arrive and danger was closer than they knew because of her great grandmothers diary where Cas and others were helping her find the clues but Cas is determined to protect and make sure Harper is safe while they find out where the threats are coming from and bring the people involved to justice and then hopefully Cas and Harper can get the happiness and future that they both want and deserve after everything that they have been through. Wow I absolutely loved this book and it took you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions and I read it in one sitting because it was so addictive and kept your attention throughout while having you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. I look forward to reading more books by this author in the future.
WOW what a read. That's all I can say. This is one of those books you can't put down.
Cas and Harper's read did not disappoint. Harper decided to move back to Harland County and live with her cousin Sadie. For years Harper has held onto the guilt of a high school shooting where her boyfriend Alex jumped in front of her to save her life. That trauma stayed with her making her not able to be around a lot of people or trust her heart with anyone. Cas a Navy Seal built up a wall around himself making him hard until he laid eyes on Harper. I loved the way Donna played out their attraction and how they tore down each others walls. When Harper found her great grandmothers diary things started to get weird if not downright dangerous. The one thing I didn't like was how long it took her to read that damn diary LOL. Okay that's all I'm giving you. Just read the book you won't be disappointed. Oh and I've read all her books so what do I do now.
Caspian is book fourteen in the HC Heroes series, and it is a fantastic read. Cas, the grumpy Navy SEAL has returned to Harland County for some much needed down time. That is until he meets Harper Quinn, who has come to stay with her cousin who happens to be his brothers girlfriend. Once in Harland County, Harper dives into restoring furniture, her passion in life. But from the mysterious things that start happening, someone doesn't want her doing that. If you are a lover of romantic suspense, military, family and friends then this is the book for you. It always feels like home in Harland County!
Caspian is back at his homestead. He is still getting used to not being in the Navy anymore. Harper has moved to Harland to be close to her cousin Sadie. She works with wood to help her cope with the school shooting she was involved with in high school. Harper has found a diary her great grandmother kept. He holds a great mystery. Cas has offered Harper the burnt wood from the barn and they are working on building some items for his house. They are also getting closer every day. As Harper learns more from the diary, she is also receiving threats. Will they learn who the secrets from the diary are about? Will Cas and Harper stay together?
Another sweet romance in the HC Heroes series. As a survivor of a school shooting, Harper has never gotten past her high school boyfriend's sacrifice and is leery of opening herself up again. When she delves into family history and her life is threatened, Cas needs to tread lightly in offering the protection Harper needs, but not scaring her away from what they can have together. But someone is willing to kill to keep secrets.
"Caspian" (HC Heroes Series Book 14) by Donna Michaels was a fantastic read. I loved Caspian and Harper's story. This story had romance, passion, military, family, friends, entertaining characters, suspense, twists, and more. This was a terrific addition to this series. I can't wait to see what happens next. I highly recommend it to all fans of romance, military, family, and series.
I love. Donna Michaels books. The adventure and mystery give you the action that keeps it exciting. The love that the hero feels for the heroin is so sweet. Personally I know the story would be every bit as good with closed doors on the bedroom. I skip those parts and thoroughly enjoy the book.
Book 14 in Donna Michaels Harland County Heroes series is another winner! It has everything I love about a romantic suspense story. Humor, passion, friendships, family and the right amount of suspense!
