On her birthday, Amina's complicated life changes when she meets Zaire. Set against the backdrop of a rainy Florida summer,, Summer's Rain is a tale of passion and transformation.
"I catch myself watching you sleep sometimes. Wanting to know what you dream.”
🎶Summer rain, sweet rain whispers me to sleep and wakes me up again🎶
As Amina geared up to celebrate another trip around the sun, she had no idea that one night of fun would lead to her wildest dreams coming true. Amina and Zaire fell in love quick and hadn’t even exchanged names up to that point. They had a world wind romance that had them completely wrapped up into each other and when they fell, they did so fast and hard.
There was A LOT happening in this story! To be fair, the author did warn us that things would move at a fast pace and the instalove was definitely instant. I don’t mind fast paced novellas when done right and Shanel was on the right track! There was just so much to cover in a short amount of time and I found myself missing the connection between the characters. It’s not the easiest thing to convince readers of a genuine love connection in 70ish pages but Shanel made a really good attempt.
Zaire and Amina’s story was good but I know it had the potential to be better. I think one less thing in the story like the one sided drama with the professor would have freed up a few pages to give us more time with the main characters. Overall the story was good it just didn’t wow me nor leave me wanting more.
This was not just a book or a story; this was poetic storytelling. This is what our ancestors were teaching us about love, redemption, truth, and forever.
Amina and Zaire are, not were, but ARE perfect! Love has a way of showing up when you plan something else.
This is my first book by this author, but it WILL NOT be the last.
This novella was good and I didn’t expect the confession from Amina. I like this age gap book and I usually don’t read that trope. I reading other book by this author and I like her writing style
On her birthday, Amina’s already complicated life shifts when she meets Zaire during a rainy Florida summer. What follows is a passionate and transformative connection that pushes Amina to confront her past and reconsider what love and safety look like.
Now let me be honest — if Amina liked it, I loved it FOR HER. Because in real life? Zaire was giving serious stalker/squatter vibes at first 😭 and the fact that they didn’t know each other’s names for months was wild. That said, once you understand Amina’s backstory — especially considering her mother and stepfather were trash individuals — her emotional walls make so much sense. Zaire’s patience (even when it felt intense) becomes part of the healing process rather than just persistence.
It’s a novella that leans into feeling over logic — and sometimes that’s exactly the kind of story you want.
Amina, meet Zaire on her Birthday. They were a passionate couple, Zaire he the main male character, he fell in love with Amina the main female character in the story. This is a great excellent, extremely sexy, and exciting, I enjoyed reading the book the plot, the suspense, and action. The male protector, lover, and uplifting Amina, Zaire said he even love her sassy ways. You have to read this , Summer Rain , and their HEA. I enjoyed it!
Shantel, thanks for this sweet cute read! When I think about how much pain some people endure from someone else's hands, I can only imagine the hurt. To be able to live outside of yourself and begin to heal is beautiful. To find someone unexpectedly that is your peace is a blessing in itself. To have joy is absolutely beautiful.🤗🤗🤗🤗
I simply loved this story. The couple in this story were so complicated and full of secrets. One night of passion started a whole new relationship. They discovered that love is so worthwhile and finding your other half completes your life. Sometimes, it's good to open up. You never know what it might lead to. Even though it was a short story, 1it left quite an impact on me.
You ate downnnn with this one! He was so gentle and patient with her! Her momma won’t shit. I love the way he loved her and I love the fact that he knew that her loved her almost the second he laid eyes on her. I love the fact that she ain’t ask too many questions that faithful night. Just trusted in his word! I also love that he wrote everything down that he wanted her to know and have answers too. ☺️ you did that!
He fell hard and fast for her. Even though the pace was like lightning it was still organic and well developed. In fact, Ms Davis was able to do in a short period of time what some authors can’t do across a three book series. That is create true intimacy.
And that’s how you get it done. Amina girl…. Zaire agreed to your one night and had you for on lifetime! Zaire was like oh I listened and now I’m going to find you and keep you. Who else was scared in Ch 13?! Even with that, our homegirl came out victorious! HEA and no cheating MMC and FMC 🥰🥰🥰
This was a great read to get out of a book slump. The story is fast paced but it has everything it needed to be interesting and captivating. I especially enjoyed the way they tried to keep the mystery going for a while even though the relationship between them was shifting.
This was a beautiful story. I enjoyed how they met and kept their identities to themselves. They just went off vibes. He fell first and turned that one night stand into forever.
This was a sweet and spicy read you can finish in less than an hour. I loved how patient and understanding he was with her, even with the walls she had up in the beginning. She wasn’t looking for love, but it found her anyway. 🥰🥰
I really enjoyed this book. Although only 74 pages it was done beautifully. I wish Professor Connie would have gotten handled but this was truly an amazing read.
