Unfortunately, happiness seems like a pipe dream for her. Her career as a social-media-famous dress maker is derailed by scandal when a client with her own social media following steals Brooklyn’s man. Now jobless, man-less, and potentially homeless, Brooklyn needs to start over from scratch.
When a friend offers her the opportunity to start over in a small coastal town, Brooklyn reluctantly takes her up on the suggestion. The gag is on Brooklyn when she realizes that her new residence is the guest house of her friend’s twin brother—the very gorgeous, very successful professional basketball player, Cameron Field.
When Cameron Field returns home for the first time in five years, he’s surprised to find his guest house occupied by Brooklyn Waverly— a woman he’s met numerous times (due to her relationship with his twin sister), but can never seem to remember. Until now. This time she’s… different. Maybe it’s the proximity of her living on his property. Maybe it’s the fact that they see each other every day. Maybe it’s the lust-filled, intimate encounters that they can’t seem to stop having.
Physical entanglements are one thing, but what happens when emotions and hearts get caught up, too? Can the flames from a summertime fling burn past the season?
My heart broke for Brooklyn as her man did her dirty and allowed his new girlfriend to broadcast it all for the world to see. 🥹 But Brooklyn's bestie Carrington swooped in to help her pick up the pieces, by offering her the guest house on her brother's property to regroup.
Cameron coming home to his beach house for some r&r, comes face to face with his twin's best friend who is staying in his guest house. Has he met Brooklyn before, yes, on multiple occasions, but he didn't notice her the way he did this time. He finds Brooklyn to be beautiful, with a caring and giving spirit, and fun. They quickly fall into a summer fling as they called it, but love was already brewing.
This couple made me smile so much with the way they doted on each other, and that rain scene, chile..... 🥵 Cameron and Brooklyn had such an ease and comfort about them, that allowed the love to grow effortlessly. Beautiful read. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Brooklyn and Cameron’s summer fling turned out to be so much more. Trifling ass Vince and ole girl Tiara can go to hell. I’m glad Brooklyn and Cameron got their “happily ever after”!
I liked the way the book was written where we got to see the transition for Brooklyn in her past relationship to her current situation and how she got to Jackson Island. There were also some funny moments with her grandmother and her ex too that I thought was a nice little touch.
Once she got to the Island it was like she came alive. The environment just did something to her and it was nice to see her get back into her element of what she loved to do of course with some persuasion from her bestie and her bestie’s mom. When Cameron first saw her again I thought it was nice how she played it cool but it was him ogling her. She felt comfortable enough with him to tell him what she wanted and they threw caution to the wind and went with it. Although they said it was a summer fling it was more than just the sex and they both knew that. I liked how their connection formed naturally and although it took them both by surprise they didn’t let that stop them from expressing their feeling for each other. Cameron was such a sweetheart in how he cared for Brooklyn looking out for her and always wanting to see her happy and successful. I was happy that she got a good man that she deserved and I was also happy how Cameron put Tiara in her place because she was doing the most and I was happy to see Brooklyn stand her ground with her.
I enjoyed the book and I enjoyed the two of them together.
Again I say, read what’s on your shelves. This was a delightful change of pace. I had a feeling that this would be cute and cozy since it’s small town centering a woman trying to find herself after a messy 10 year relationship. However I didn’t expect it to be funny and emotional.
Brooklyn has been sitting on the shelf like a neglected plant in desperate need of water and attention. (Pun intended) Her former college roommate Carrington invites her back to her small town to rest, restore and relaunch her brand. Little does she know, she’ll get that and so much more when Carrington’s NBA twin brother comes to stay in his vacation home that has been gifted to Brooklyn.
My absolutely favorite character is Big Red! The way she petty prayed over Vince and sassed him in the southern sweet tongue was priceless. However Pop-Pop was just as sharp and was someone i wanted to get a little more of.
The way this book ended maybe be release the biggest awwwwww. Really enjoyed this!
At 1st when the story started I wasn’t sure I would make it through it. But I continued listening and I can honestly say I enjoyed it. It was a story that showed how finally putting yourself 1st and drowning out the outside noise will give you the best kinda glow up and who knew a fine a** good a** man too.
Brooklyn and Cam yeah they were the perfect fit and they never saw each other coming. The fact that the old thangs wanted what they lost back was funny because Brooklyn and Cam stood on business behind each other.
This was a feel good story and a good book palette cleanser.
This story gave me all the feels. In the beginning, Brooklyn was in a weird space with her ex and I couldn’t stand him at all. Cameron was just what Brooklyn needed. I loved Brooklyn’s grandma and her prayers. Tiara got on my nerves with her delusional self. Overall, there was enough laugh, love, spiciness, and drama to keep me interested in the story. I would recommend this book.
I enjoyed this one! A friend recommended it to me and it did not disappoint!
Tropes:
Bestfriend Sibling Sports Romance
Brooklyn went through a bad breakup. Her ex boyfriend was something else! She moved out of her current home to Jackson Island at the request of her bestfriend who was getting married soon. The best friend lived in her brother’s beach house. Brooklyn took her up on her offer and once she and Cameron connected sparks started to fly!
I haven’t had time to read in a while and this book was perfect. Cameron and Brooklyn’s love felt so natural and genuine. What happened to Tiara’s raggedy behind?
this book was just ok. Brooklyn and Cam's story. I wasnt impressed by the writing of the plot. Cam is supposed to be an NBA player but I kept forgetting because he came off as somebody with a desk job. like why did he have an office at the community rec center? Brooklyn was ok. she's a seamstress (her word. not sure why they didn't call her a designer).
lots of inconsistencies. in the beginning of the book Brooklyn is supposed to be "fat" but later in the book she lost 20 lbs and suddenly she's wearing bikinis? maybe it's me but I was confused.
also, the timeline was off. earlier in the book, Brooklyn has about 10 months to make her friends wedding dress. then, later Cam and Brooklyn have known each other for about 3 or 4 months and the wedding is 5 weeks away. Make it make sense.
Summer fling? I truly do believe Cameron and Brooklyn already knew that was not about to be the type of time they were going to be on for the summer.
After being in a 10 year relationship with a man who left her for a client who hired her for a dress service…Brooklyn (seamstress) has agreed to move into the guest house of her college roommate twin brother, Cameron. This getaway is supposed to help her sit with herself and just figure out who she is as a newly single woman. I knew that was a joke especially after mentioning her lil crush she had on him from back then.
Cameron is in his off season (nba player) and coming home for the summer. He expresses his tiredness and just wanting to “be” for the summer to prepare for his next season that might look a lil different then what he is used to so he already has established his plan before he got there. He was a man with plan and that’s how he ran. 🤣 He also decided that if he was going to be with anybody for the summer that it would be just summer thing…nothing too crazy…until he meets Brooklyn☺️
Cameron and Brooklyn end up having a summer of good loving. (Rain and fluids involved.🤣)And it’s good loving that doesn’t represent a summer fling. Past relationships were explored…at one point sacrifices were ready to be made…”rawness” was happening that ain’t never happened before🤣…crazy exes wanted to be back in the picture no matter the cost…family was found through friendship. Now if that’s a summer fling…yikes!
I LOVED that Big Red and Pop-Pop (Brooklyn’s grandparents) did not play about their babygirl and was ready to throw hands at any point🤣
Brooklyn and Cameron went through growing pains together and separately. They both had lived experiences that should’ve resulted in them never being together. They handled each other’s past and present with soooo much grace. I really did enjoy their story and I think you would too.
Oh, and Cameron can definitely be added to the list of being one of my fave book boyfriends. ☺️
This book certainly ran the gamut of emotions and I enjoyed it for that reason. The book started off with Brooklyn and her trifling ex. I truly felt for Brooklyn and the situation she found herself in with him. I was glad when her college roommate and good friend, Carrington, gave her a reason to leave a situation that wasn't good for her mental. Huntie, Cameron was just what the doctor ordered. He, as well as her new living arrangement, brought Brooklyn back to life. I loved how Cameron treated Brooklyn and I also loved the banter, passion and love between them. I couldn't stand Tiara. She just couldn't believe that Cameron wasn't falling for her manipulations with her gold-digger self. I loved Pop Pop and Big Red. They were full of love and were a support for Brooklyn which she needed in her life. What started out as a summer fling between Cameron and Brooklyn turned into so much more. Great book that I highly recommend!!!
Summer fling turned year round love. Best friend's brother trope.
Brooklyn is having a tough time. Betrayed by her long time boyfriend and embarrassed on social media by a client, she desperately needs a change. She moves into her best friend's brother's guest house at the beach and really starts coming into her own. Then the brother Cameron who she's always been attracted to shows up and it turns out that beach and his dick is exactly what she needed. Loved watching Cameron and Brooklyn fall in love.
Life’s twists can be as unpredictable as they are challenging, but Tracy Gray captures this whirlwind of change beautifully in “The Brooklyn Way.” Brooklyn Waverly’s journey from high-profile success to near despair and back again is a tale that resonates deeply, especially for anyone who’s faced their share of life’s ups and downs. After a scandal leaves Brooklyn jobless and almost homeless, she grasps at a lifeline—a chance to start fresh in a quaint coastal town, not knowing she’d be living just a stone’s throw away from Cameron Field, a striking professional basketball player with whom she shares a complicated past. Tracy Gray masterfully crafts a narrative that explores the comedy and serendipity of Brooklyn’s new beginning. Cameron, returning home after years away, is stunned to find Brooklyn occupying his guest house. Their unexpected reunion sparks a series of lust-filled encounters that Gray describes with both warmth and intensity. The characters’ interactions, though initially driven by undeniable physical attraction, gradually peel back layers of deeper emotional connection. Gray’s storytelling shines in its ability to weave humor and heartache with a light touch. “The Brooklyn Way” isn’t just about finding love; it’s about rediscovering oneself amidst the ruins of former glories and personal failures. The chemistry between Brooklyn and Cameron evolves beautifully from sizzling encounters to a heartfelt recognition of mutual support and understanding. If you’re in a slump or simply seeking a sweet escape, this book promises to lift your spirits and tug at your heartstrings. It’s a poignant reminder that sometimes, starting over isn’t about finding a new place, but finding a new way to love. Dive into “The Brooklyn Way” for a journey that’s as heartfelt as it is fiery, and watch as Brooklyn and Cameron navigate the tricky paths of love and new beginnings—Tracy Gray has indeed done it again! Grab your copy and let Brooklyn and Cameron’s story remind you of the beauty of second chances and the sweetness of rediscovered love.
I went into this expecting not to like it. Not because Tracy Gray is a terrible writer or anything but because I either haven’t really liked any of the MMCs in the other three books I have read by her or I just didn’t find them swoon-worthy. I gave “The Brooklyn Way” a chance because the synopsis sounded interesting, and I liked Cameron when he showed up in “By Chance”.
I liked Cameron and Brooklyn separately and together. I absolutely loved that Brooklyn had her own thing going on and didn’t fold for Cameron just because he was a fine and rich pro basketball player. Brooklyn was also on a healing journey and was very self-aware and enforced boundaries when needed. I loveddd that.
I feel like we didn’t get to learn too much about or spend as much time with Cameron as we did we Brooklyn. I thought he was very respectful, funny, and straightforward but there wasn’t really anything that made me proud of him by the end of the book. There’s a storyline about his relationship with his mom, but it felt unfinished to me. Like he has complaints about her, but there’s no resolution by the end. Like, did he explain to her why he was setting boundaries? Did she learn to accept his boundaries? What happened?
Admittedly, there were some paragraphs I skipped or skimmed, so I could’ve missed it. The ones I skipped were ones I didn’t think were necessary for me to read. I didn’t care about how the parties were laid out or what the table setups looked liked. I skimmed the paragraphs about Brooklyn’s parents’ memorials. Those just hit too close to home, so I just looked for information that I needed to know.
And last but not least…bruh why was Tiara around? Like I get she was around to add some drama but literally no one liked her. Like why was she at Sunday brunch or in Carrington’s wedding party? Had me looking at Carrington sideways because why would you put someone you can’t stand in yo wedding? Girl 😒😂
Oh! And Genesis makes a quick appearance or two. It was good to read that her and Christian are still together and have more babies.
Love, love, LOVED this book!!! When the story begins, Brooklyn is in a painfully awkward space with her ex. And he was just...ugh🤬. I do like that the story started in the aftermath of their demise, I think it would have slowed the pace of the story (which was 🤌🏾 btw) if that had played out on the page. Cameron was such a breath of fresh air. I loved how free Brooklyn became around him. He truly brought out the best in her. I loved how supportive their families were to them individually and as a unit. This felt like an easy love story and I loved that. Also, loved the brief glimpse of Genesis and reading how their family had grown. Her and Christian's story is still one of my favorite. Lastly, Cameron's toast at Carrington's wedding reception was so beautiful. Perfectly captured the beauty of an easy love. Wonderful story! Can't wait to see what Ms. Gray has in store for us next.
This is the first time I’ve read a book by this author. I actually stumbled upon the book by accident. I was actually looking at my kindle suggestions and found an author that I was looking for but must have clicked the book by mistake after reading the synopsis of what I thought was the book I was trying to get. After I finished that book realizing I read the wrong synopsis cause the story didn’t match it made me curious about the synopsis I did read but I couldn’t remember the name of the book. But lo and behold it was sitting in my library.
Sometimes things are meant to be and it was meant for me to read this story. I really enjoyed the story and Big Red with her underhanded prayers was funny. I wish there was a little more drama and that Tiara and Vince got more of what was coming to them or at least had their feelings hurt but the story was still good. So much so that I’m going to read the one about the Uptons.
I enjoyed this story and really liked Brooklyn and Cameron, both separately and together. I liked that Cameron was strong enough not to be a pushover for the women in his life yet still respect and spoil them, and Brooklyn really matured and gained confidence over the course of the story, and she wasn't bratty or a diva. She was respectful and kind yet still had plenty of backbone, and she didn't abuse Cameron's generosity. I like how he owned his evolving feelings for her. And I loved Brooklyn's grandparents, especially Big Red telling her to stop being a punk. LOL And Carrington was a great friend.
The little surprise tidbit at the end? Ehh. That dimmed it a teeny bit only because given how open she was with him throughout the story, it seems implausible that she would've waited so long to tell him something like that. His reaction was sweet, though. Enjoyed the story overall.
I liked that Cameron didn't "see" Brooklyn until she began living with him. People always make it seem I like ALL men are whores especially players. But Cameron visiting his sister when she was in college was about him spending time with his sister. I loved that he was selective in who he allowed in his space. And I hated that Brooklyn talked about being convenient coochie because she lived right on Cameron property when just like she said he could have anybody he wanted. He certainly didn't NEED to fuck with her if he didn't want to fuck with her. Pussy was being thrown at him on a silver, gold and platinum platter. Brooklyn was at first a bit insecure but she got it together. Cameron was so sweet, gorgeous, polite and a boss. He needed someone who matched his energy. Brooklyn became that person. It was nice to see them evolved from acquaintances, to friends, to partners.
Cameron & Brooklyn despite knowing each other for years, was never seen by each other. Brooklyn is letting go and moving on after being tied to her trifling ex; she decides to take her bestie’s offer and stay at her brother’s guest house. Cameron is back home for the summer and one encounter with Brooklyn leads them to deciding to have a summer fling, no attachments. Welp, their chemistry is so strong and before they know it… feelings are involved. This was a journey of Brooklyn learning to trust herself and identify and believe her worth, not placing those things in the hands of others… knowing who she is and standing on it! The growth shown with Brooklyn was heartwarming.
I really enjoyed this book. Brooklyn and Cameron were so lovable on their own. They were even better as a couple. Their backstory was cute even if Cameron was oblivious. It was so nice to see Brooklyn bounce back from an embarrassing break up. She definitely upgraded from that nightmare. Watching her blossom and get back to herself was such a nice part of the storyline. Her courtship with Cameron moved quickly, but it made sense. They were so right for each other. I loved the way he adored her. This was my first read from this author. I’m looking forward to reading more of her work.
This was my first read by Tracy Gray and it was sooo good! Brookie and Cameron were great together. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book but it gave me a little bit of everything. I loved Brooklyn. She had been through so much and even when she fell into a slump (something I have experience with) she never truly gave up. At the beginning of the book my girl was going through it so I’m happy she had Carrington as a true friend and someone who helped pull her out of despair and into Cameron’s arms. Now… Cameron… sir! He popped on the scene with a subtle BDE vibe that I was here for. He was that man who you claim is the homie until you wake up naked to him in bed the next morning 😂 He definitely pulled my girl back and she settled him so they were the perfect mix. This book had a lot of key players who brought what was needed to make this book great. I loved Big Red and her prayers and Pop-Pop with his take no prisoners attitude! Carrington was a good friend that I wish all women were blessed with. I’m definitely planning to dive into this author’s catalog because she did her thing with this one!
Brooklyn went to stay in her best friend’s brother’s guest house as a way to start over and relearn herself. Little does she know that she will be learning more than herself. Cameron was a lover boy and wanted no one but Brooklyn. He was not trying to leave her even when she was fighting it. Brooklyn’s ex was a bitch and needed his ass whooped. Showing up at her grandparents house for the celebration of her parents after you just randomly broke up with her was wild. Glad that bitch played in her ex’s face. To leave her for one of her clients was low down af.
This book had me all in my feelings. Brooklyn was such a sweet soul that didn't deserve any of the things that happened to her. Reading her heal and finding her way back to herself was beautiful. Cameron was exactly what she needed. What started off as a summer fling grew to something, neither of them imagined. I loved them together. When she told Cameron she wanted to come back to him whole, I teared up. As for Cameron's ex Tiara, she could kick rocks with open toed shoes on. My first read by this author and it definitely won't be my last.
Vince played in Brooklyn's face with her former client! She was hurt but when her college roommate and bdsf friend offered her twin brothers guesthouse to heal, she took her up on it. What started off as a Summer fling grew into a beautiful relationship and in the end Brooklyn and Cameron found love and a HEA! Tiara was a trip, I was so glad she was put in her place! Great read!
Wow, to think that I kept putting off reading this book. I loved the cover but wasn’t sold by the synopsis. Well, I was wrong this was so well written. Just my type of book. Great storyline with well developed characters. There wasn’t any cheating, no lies by omission and no bad advice by stupid friends. It was the perfect romance mixed in with the right amount of laughs. Great job Ms. Gray!
This was well-written. I appreciate a well written story. It was perfectly done. I literally have nothing bad to say. I loved Cameron and I loved Brooklyn. I loved the part all the characters played in pushing the plot along. I loved the themes, I loved the ending. I loved the realism injected. Sometimes romance's come off way too idealistic but Tracy did a great job at maintaining balance. This was a fantastic read!!
Too cute! Love doesn’t always have to be complicated, you have to trust your heart to know what’s best for you.
What I loved: - The FMC and MMC having an undefined past - The way Brooklyn made sure she was healed before coming into the relationship broken - The way that real love can help you turn into the person you dreamed you could be
I was feeling this book. Although Brooklyn had her share of trauma, she didn’t run from healing and she had courage to go after the life she wanted.
