The perfect vacation spot. A dark secret of the past. A new business embraced. An elusive presence. An unlikely guest. Curious coincidence? Present curiosity Past madness Future hope.
This really took me by surprise! I liked the approach to the mystery. Being a cold case, you get this sense of an old wrong being righted, and seeing the satisfaction of relief coming to the people in the present who are affected by the crime of the past. Meanwhile, there's time spent enjoying the characters and town, so the read is simultaneously interesting and relaxing. Very easy to pick up!
I like how the main character was handled, and how her faith directs her reasoning and actions all for the better.
The ending wasn't what I was expecting - without spoiling anything, it felt way more positive than most mysteries. Instead of being left with a feeling of disgust at what happened, there was an element of hope instead. Very refreshing.
