The Falling Circle is the story of Giff, urban punk extraordinaire. He moves from place to place around the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1980's, working the only part-time wage slave job he can find and struggling to find some sort of structure in the hard-boiled and bizarre world of the concrete jungle.
Couch surfing at friends places, Giff is on the move to find a new place to live. He wades through speed freak rivetheads, avant garde dyke artists and flaked-out drug-addled friends before resorting to sleeping in the park. He finally finds a new place, a place filled with dominatrixes, gutter punks, and all manner of nomadic urban dwellers. He struggles to hang on in a house of chaos as the turnstile of roommates, drugs, clubbers and punks threaten to run him over in his own home.
The world of the urban poor is a story of hardship and struggle, but it's also a really bizarre world. Take a look into the big city underground with The Falling Circle.
I am a native of the San Francisco Bay Area. I was born and raised in this region, unlike most other citizens of the Bay Area who are from another state or another country. I am a veteran of the punk/metal/new wave/oh-my-God-what-did-we-do-last-night club scenes of the San Francisco Bay Area in the Eighties and the early Nineties. I run marathons, I write novels, I meow back at cats and say hi to strange dogs that I meet. I am also a web applications engineer and a dedicated worker bee for the Oakland Athletics.
