I am an anglophone writer in Quebec province, Canada. I like to write epic fantasy with romantic elements and particularly enjoy stories of relationships between men, though this is not my only reading interest. My published stories often have glbtq content. I do not write in the m/m genre. Many of my novels include female characters who may be involved with main characters.

The Soulstone Chronicles blurb: An enigmatic deity reborn as a human being has been enslaved to work the downfall of the religious sects governing a coastal crescent of his world, but nothing can contain this perilous individual forever, not the memory-crippling blackness of death, the ominous earth goddess who seeks to recapture him, or the powerful spell that binds his soul to a stone.

The chronological order of the series is as follows: Bound in Stone, The Gryphon Taint, The Disposition of Ashes, The Redemption of Tehlm Sevet. Future sets are planned: The Sun Bane, The Apostate God, and Hell Walker.

This story picks up a few years from where the first volume left off, and we can immediately see what a negative influence living with the Shadow Master has had on the two brothers during that time. I don’t want to go into any specifics of the plot so as to avoid spoilers, but will say that I am of mixed opinion about this second volume. This still fits into the fantasy genre, rather than being classified as horror, but there’s a LOT of horrific content during the first two-thirds of the story. The plot takes some very grim turns, and a lot of awful things happen, and quite frankly this is darker material than what I usually read---dark enough that I’m not all that enthusiastic about it. But then there’s a change of scenery two-thirds of the way through and the tone shifts dramatically, and I found myself really enjoying the story again.

There’s no doubt that the author is a skilled storyteller; this was an I-couldn’t-put-it-down sort of story for me. However, I’m not making a blanket recommendation because of the content---but for those who perhaps are fans of the horror genre, or don’t mind fantasy stories with some very unpleasant content, I’ll recommend it. I’ll be reading the final book in this trilogy, you can be sure.

Reading the sample:
(Imagine this line in full valley girl glory:) Uh. Full throes of passion, not "throws." Sheesh.

So, here's my hierarchy of character information needs:
1) Vik
2) Marun
3) Kehfrey

The rest of them can all burn for all I care.

Actually, I like this book. I don't care about any of the other characters - apparently for good reason, as this book shows - so it all works out.

I still don't quite get Marun. Or all his peeps. I mean, what is up with all that?

Anyways, I think I may actually purchase it after all.

post-read EtA:
This one's interesting cuz it's more "story" like.

I feel supremely sorry for Marun. Really do.
I don't quite get the full weight of intent behind his castigation, but then, I didn't exactly pay attention in bk 1.

And Vik...he was angsting so beautifully...

*sigh
You know, Kehfrey/ ain't bad and all, but Vik will always be nearest and dearest to my heart. Yeah, K's got his little angsty thing going on, but he's got MC power. Vik, on the other hand...things could go spectacularly wrong for him cuz he's an actual supporting character in this one.

So, yeah. Shut up about K and get on to more about Vik D:

And the word is "peaked" when talking about health (or lack thereof), not "peeked."

The weirdest/coolest thing about this series is it actually explains relative attraction in a way that made sense to me. With Melusine, I was still despairing over Mildmay and his . This series, though, actually discussed the issue in a way that made sense to me. I can't exactly pin down what it is about it that does that for me, but it does, so bravo on that aspect.

D: I really, really just want to know more about Vik...

Actually, it seems he's reached an angst plateau. I may grudgingly have to start moving my focus to K...

The hero's epic journey continues... Kehfrey and his brother find themselves fully entangled in the dark sorcerer's clutches and embroiled in a plot that spans kingdoms.

I can't really review this to the extent I'd like without giving away any spoilers, but I can assure anyone reading this that volume two carries on from volume one without missing a step. Kehfrey and Vik are a little older, a little more jaded and even more determined. This is a tale of twisted romance, adventure and deeply tangled plots.

There's an overarching melancholy to the story - the lighter moments serve to punctuate - but it's in no way all doom and gloom grim. This page turner prompted me to immediately open volume three so I could continue to lose myself in this vivid world K.M. has created.

I don't know if I can write an unbiased review, since I have already read all the published books in this series... and loved them!

Kehfrey

Tehlm Sevet

When I found this series and had delved into the complex world within I was shocked to find that this series had not yet gotten the recognition it deserves, and still hasn't. This may be due to the original cover art, which honestly put me off from starting this series for quite a while, the first book sat in my library for ages before I finally gave it a try, and damn! What a find! Anyone who gives this authors works a chance will see what a spectacular gem they've found in this series.

If you are planning to start this series know that it does contain elements of horror, non-con, torture, etc.. but they are there to serve a purpose and not just there for the shock value. For me this makes these elements acceptable as part of the narrative since it is there to help with the character development and world building. So, if you can get past these things you are in for a wild ride.

This is the beginning of an epic Saga. It's hard to give an overview of this story without giving a way key plot points, but I guess a good way to describe this book, and the series as a whole, is of obsession, love, hate, war, power, and so much more.

For me when I read a book I put myself fully into the mind of the character I'm reading and there are some books where a character is so engaging, charismatic, and just plain fun that you are instantly engrossed every time they are mentioned in the story. Kehfrey is one of those characters, which is part of what makes this series work so well.

Kehfrey is by no means the only interesting character, on the contrary most of the characters are exceptional in their own right; dynamic, intricate, and far the from the usual two dimensional characters that are cranked out by the dozen by authors simply to enhance the main character, be comic relief, or just convenient sounding boards.

This series takes character driven storyline and a fascinating and intricate plot and combines them into a Saga that stands head and shoulders above the other fantasy series being published lately.

This book continues to be as dark and disturbing as the first. But it becomes more hopeful near the end. I'm still hooked on this series and can't wait to start the third book.

I have read every single book of this series and I LOVE THEM ALL!. I can not wait for the next one to come out. I will warn readers that it does have gay (male on male) sexual content in every story so if this is something that offends or is morally unacceptable then DO NOT read this series, but if you are like me and what you are looking for is a great storyline a fabulous lead character then this series is the series for you. Every book continues on the story, but each book can stand alone as well.

While I enjoyed the first book parts of it made me very uncomfortable. However, the second book was much, much better. Looking forward to seeing where the third book goes.

Addicting!

Addicting is the only word that can describe this series! I can't put it down. The road these characters take is incredible. A must read series!
