Sins: The Contract, book one, is part of the Sins series by Lexxi James about the D'Angelo Family. The Contract tells the story of Dante D'Angelo and Riley Mullvain, and it ends on a cliffhanger. The story picks up at the end of Enzo and Kennedy's midnight wedding, leaving Riley alone at the church with Father Mark. As she exits, embarrassed about gawking at a priest, and walks out into the unknown, she's acutely aware that her future is uncertain, especially with the unsettling feeling that someone is watching her. This uncertainty sets the stage for a gripping narrative. She takes off, running, and when she reaches a dead end, there is a giant of a man with a Russian accent; his name is Zver. He carries her, making their way through the dark alleys, and drops her off in a dark room with no windows. Zver tells Riley that his payment is a kiss whenever and wherever he wants it. The next morning, Dante D'Angelo wakes her up. It appears Zver left her in his club, and was that a dream about a special kiss?
Riley believes that the D'Angelos are responsible for her father's death, and her sister, Kennedy, must be held against her will and coerced into marrying Enzo. With nowhere else to turn, Riley agrees to work with the Feds, especially Special Agent Caleb Knox; Riley thinks she must infiltrate D'Angelo's secrets by applying for a job at Dante's Club. Fantastic Addition to Lexxi James’ Sins Series! 🔥
I wish I could give this 10 ⭐s—Lexxi brought it in The Contract! Every book in this series has been building up to one of the most dangerous of the D’Angelo brothers: Dante D’Angelo. Lexxi James is an awesome writer. Her fast-paced storytelling is packed with action and suspense—I legit had moments where I said WTF out loud! My heart dropped (and damn near stopped) in those last few chapters.
This is a duet, and if part two is anything like this one, we’re in for a wild ride that’s ready to fly off the rails. Dante is about to show Riley—and us—that he’s no ordinary man. He’s a total beast, and her submission? Already his.

She will do anything she can to prove that Dante and his family had everything to do with her own father’s death, despite her sister marrying into their infamous mafia family.

In Sins: The Contract by Lexxi James, the heroine Riley, Kennedy's sister, believes that Enzo and Dante killed her father. Therefore she hates them and wants to get Kennedy away from Enzo whom she just married. Unfortunately, she is very attracted to Dante even though he treats her terribly. Riley is a strong minded female lead who doesn't let herself be pushed around but she consistently makes poor choices. She is very impulsive. Dante is on a search and destroy mission to find out what happened to his father. So he concocts a very involved scheme to this end. Dante is also obsessively attracted to Riley. The steam is hot, the machinations are convoluted and the violence is gruesome. It helps to have read the previous books but this book and be read as a stand alone. It is a duet and ends with matters unresolved. It will be interesting to see where the second book goes. While the first book ends with Dante being angry at Riley, I am sure he is in for a whirlwind of madness when he confronts Riley.
I really enjoyed the whole series but I find books written in parts I have to wait for difficult. I read MANY books and waiting for the next one to be published allows the adrenaline rush of the story to dissipate and I lose some of the details in between books.

SINS: The Contract is the first book in Dante and Riley's story. It is a dark, forbidden, contemporary, m/f, mafia romance with mystery and suspense, as well as intrigue and steam galore. It has spectacular characters and storyline, a virgin FMC, and edge of your seat excitement.
Dante, a member of the D'Angelo mafia family, is a nightclub owner with a past that haunts him. He will do absolutely anything to find information leading him to his missing father. Riley is forbidden fruit to Dante. She is also hell bent on getting revenge on, and saving her sister from, who she has been told is, her father's murderer.
Dante and Riley have epic chemistry and a fiery relationship. I love the way they butt heads and the way they come together. I love Riley's stubbornness and defiance, and Dante's danger and deceptive ways.
This book was fantastic! The writing, flow, plot, and pace were incredible, as were the characters, character development, relationship development, storytelling, storyline, and world building. This story and its characters kept me captivated and the cliffhanger left me awestruck. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

What a great start to Dante and Rilery's story. It begins with Riley's sister, Kennedy, getting married to Enzo D'Angelo. While Riley is admiring the priest who officiated their wedding from afar. She finds herself alone, with everyone having left, and she needs to find a ride. But she soon finds herself in danger. She finds herself being rescued by Zver, who whisks her away. The next morning, she wonders if it's all a dream when she finds herself alone with Dante D'Angelo. Riley then finds herself entangled in a perilous web of mystery and intrigue. Will Riley ever be able to solve the mystery of who killed her father, and if the D'Angelo's are involved? You've got to love Riley, she acts before thinking through whether what she is doing is safe.

Dante should stay away from Riley, his new sister-in-law. But Riley is looking for something that she thinks she can only find with Dante. And so their paths cross again and again. And each time, Dante finds it harder not to give in to temptation and desire.
Sins: The Contract is book 7 of the Sins series and also part 1 of the series about Dante and Riley. I haven't read the other parts of the series, so I'm not sure whether the individual duets can be read independently, but after reading them I would say that you should read all the parts. I often found it difficult to identify the characters and generally felt that I was simply missing background information.
Sins: The Contract is definitely one of the more darker dark romances I've read. Personally, I really liked the writing style. Even though it was very dark and often rough, I also found the writing style very refreshing and funny, especially in the chapters from Riley's point of view. However, for me it was really hard to get into the story itself. I often simply needed more information about the events and the characters. That's why the story itself hasn't really made sense to me yet. However, the story is incredibly exciting throughout and my lack of knowledge naturally made it even more so. 😂 It's not a classic love story. You can really feel the attraction between Riley and Dante, but I often asked myself: are those really feelings or just lust? The ending completely turned everything around, cleared things up a bit and now has me eagerly waiting for part 2. Even though my suspicions were actually confirmed at the end, there were new surprises that I'm looking forward to resolving in volume 2.

Oh wow!! This was a rollercoaster of a read!! and I enjoyed every single second of being on said rollercoaster!! Be warned this will make your head spin and it ends on a cliffhanger too and boy do I want book two now!!
So in the previous books we've met the D'Angelo family and this we meet Dante and Riley who is Kennedy from the previous three books sister!!! This picks up right where the last book finished and that was at Kennedy and Enzo's wedding, Riley believes the D'Angelo's are at fault for her and Kennedy's father's death. So she wants revenge!!! She wants to get Kennedy away from Enzo and kill him and Dante!
Dante is on a search and destroy mission to find out what happened to his father. So he makes up a very involved scheme to get what he wants. Dante is also obsessively attracted to Riley. The chemistry between these two oof the spice is mid but oh my goodness it's just enough and I enjoyed the story to be honest.
I honestly can't wait to see where book two takes us as like I said this ends on a cliffhanger and I did guess what the twist was quite near the beginning of this book but it didn't take away what I got from it. Bring on book two now lol!!

Dante and Riley
In the previous books, we read about the D’Angelo brothers and the world around them. Most recently, Enzo and Kennedy. Now it’s Dante D’Angelo’s story and he has his eyes set on Riley, Kennedy’s sister. The one woman who is off limits. Enzo told him to look after her. Technically he listened.
Dante keeps warning Riley to back away and run. She has no idea what she is getting involved in. But does she listen? No, she does not.
Riley wants answers. In her mind, she has to protect Kennedy, and also a new friend. But each time she pushes, she is getting deeper and deeper into a world she can’t possibly understand. Now everyone is in danger, and it’s too late to back away.
So, so good. This series is captivating from beginning to end. Never a dull moment, lots of twists, and so entertaining.
In the previous books, we read about the D’Angelo brothers and the world around them. Most recently, Enzo and Kennedy. Now it’s Dante D’Angelo’s story and he has his eyes set on Riley, Kennedy’s sister. The one woman who is off limits. Enzo told him to look after her. Technically he listened.
Dante keeps warning Riley to back away and run. She has no idea what she is getting involved in. But does she listen? No, she does not.
Riley wants answers. In her mind, she has to protect Kennedy, and also a new friend. But each time she pushes, she is getting deeper and deeper into a world she can’t possibly understand. Now everyone is in danger, and it’s too late to back away.
So, so good. This series is captivating from beginning to end. Never a dull moment, lots of twists, and so entertaining.

Dante knows that Riley is strictly off limits, until she enters his domain, then all bets are off.
This is a well written action packed, emotional roller coaster story, with family, friendships, angst, secrets, danger, suspense, intrigue, vengeance, mystery, romance, tension, and undeniable chemistry, which leads to an entertaining, tragic, twisted, and unpredictable, addictive page turner.
I cannot wait to read the second part about this couple.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Love coming back to Sins world. With every book I have trouble to pick which one is my favourite.
Couldn't put the book down, I was flying through pages.
And I agree with Riley "My lady parts, light up like a jet-engine ignition." while reading the story 😊.
And call me crazy but my favourite part is cliffhanger. Can't wait for the second book and Zver😘.

Awesome book. Dark, steamy, twisted and suspenseful. Dante was a complex and deep individual who was enamoured with Riley. She certainly was in over her head.
On her sisters wedding day, Riley is almost kidnapped but saved and taken by Zver to a club owned by Mafia man Dante.
Very twisted and a few twists throughout the plot. The characters were so well suited with the chemistry between Dante and Riley, deep moving and filled with friction. The end was very eventful and caught me by surprise. But oh I loved it.
I can't wait for the second book in the duet. This had been a absolutely amazing experience to read. This author always delights and this book was exceptional as well. Highly recommended!!

I didn’t think any of the brothers would top Enzo but, damn! Dante.. wow!!!
This is Riley and Dante’s story. And I am here for it! All the way!! I loved getting to know each of them in the previous books but I love that they have their own storyline.
Dante is so damn hot and broody that I couldn’t get enough of him and Riley… she’s so naive and fiesty that I wanted to keep going to see if these two finally connected and let their relationship develop into something more.
The semi-cliffhanger was kind of a mood killer just because I personally can’t stand them BUT… I know that Lexxi will make up for it in their next book; which I am now anxiously waiting for!

What a lovely start to another beautiful story from Ms Lexxi.
This is the first book in Riley and Dante's story. Riley is impulsive, strong minded and doesn't allow anyone to push her around. She believes Dante( her husband) and Enzo, his brother killed her father and is set to reveal the truth. Will she be proven right? The story will continue in the second book which I can't wait to read.
This is a great book and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I started this series with this book. I wish I would have read the others to have a better understanding. Even not reading I could stay with the book. Once I started I could not put down. There was chemistry between Dante and Riley from the beginning of the book. There were twists I did not see with their story. Cannot wait for the next book

Unexpected Surprises
I love Dante, but I must admit, Riley got on my nerves, and then I realized that she was only 19. No wonder.
I was surprised to find out who Zver is. Also, I was thrown through a loop when I found out who was involved in his Dad disappearance.
I can't wait for the next book.

Riley isn't on a path of answers after her fathers death, and Enzo her sisters Kennedy husband tasks Dante to watch over her, she's forbidden and off limits but that won't stop him. Well written engaging dark themes desires action and more a cliffy ending.

Finished it but it was a struggle. This writer needs to learn concise writing: 5 lines sentences with a metaphor in every single one of them drove me nuts. The characters were all puffing and huffing but in terms of action not much happened. There's a cliffhanger at the end but I'm stopping there.

🔥🔥- ARC reader. The writing was good. I liked the idea of the story, but I felt like the main characters had no chemistry. It was very wishy washy. Idk how the FMC didn’t put it together that it was the same guy when she was thinking about 2 different ones.

A new addition to the Sins series, this is Riley and Dante's story.
Riley believes that Dante and Enzo killed her (& Kennedy's) father, and tries to convince Kennedy to leave Enzo. The path she travels to get answers is a crazy ride.
This was a rollercoaster, and I can't wait for the next book after that ending.
