Amy Clipston is one of my favorite authors. I went out and grabbed this title the day it came out and I’m so happy I did. Regina and Everett were such well rounded characters contemplating starting new love years after losing their spouses I honestly felt like they were neighbors down the road whose story I got to read in my own home. I adored them and their grown children and their story. I would recommend any of Amy’s Amish titles even if you’re not at all religious for sweet easy romances filled with admiration, adoration, thoughtfulness and consideration, hand holding, and the ever sought for stolen kiss. Happy Reading!
Okay, this one’s just lovely. It’s the kind of story that sneaks up on you in the best way: quiet, heartfelt, and full of slow-burn goodness. It follows two people who’ve already been through a lot in life, and just when they think love might’ve passed them by… it shows up again!
Everett’s a 52-year-old widower doing his best to help raise his young granddaughter, and honestly? He’s trying, but it’s tough. Enter Regina...she’s 49, a widow too, and someone from his past. She steps in to help as a nanny, and everything just sort of clicks. But then her house is damaged, and she (plus her kids) end up moving in with Everett, his son, and granddaughter.
Living together brings out all kinds of feelings... some sweet, mostly complicated. Especially since both Everett and Regina have secrets they’ve been holding onto, the kind that could change everything if they ever come out! But both know... if they want to ever see a future together, the truth will need to be shared, sooner, rather than later.
This story is such beautiful, sweet journey .. full of family, faith, and second chances. Honestly, it just feels real... like these could be people you know -watching two people find their way back to love. Something they never thought they'd experience again!
Tropes I Loved: - Older main characters (52 & 49) - Friends to more - Forced proximity - Secret-keeping - Blended families - Emotional healing
A Wonderful tale of old friends meeting again as Regina Weaver takes a job babysitting her old crush's granddaughter who is two. She wants to pay off her bills with money from taking care of two year old Sophie Zook for her grandpa Everett Zook. A really good and encouring read about a widow and widower and second chances.
Amy Clipston was a new author to me. During a live episode of Angela Anderson Presents on Facebook, Clipston was the featured author. I didn’t realize how fortunate I was to win the physical copy of her book, “Caring for the Amish Family,” until I read it. My initial hesitation about reading about Amish characters was quickly dispelled. Second chance romances are among my favorite tropes. Although the characters practiced a different religion than mine, I identified with their faith in God to sustain and answer prayers. The themes of grief, shame, secrets, forgiveness, and family also resonated.
The pacing of “Caring for the Amish Family” was just right to move the story along. Afterall, there was a lot to digest as widow Regina Weaver and widower Everett Zook navigated through their own secrets to hopefully realize a second chance at love. Because of their Amish beliefs, their friends-to-lovers quest looked tame compared to other romance genres, yet it possessed a potent emotional tug. It was also refreshing to read about children at the threshold of adulthood who respected their parents. Everett’s two-year-old granddaughter Sophie’s need for a mother’s love helped galvanize his attraction to Regina.
The language of love, longing and close family ties is universal. The author’s usage of some Pennsylvania Dutch words was well-placed, and readily understood. Amy Clipston adeptly removed any skepticism about whether I could connect with the characters. “Caring for the Amish Family” was a remarkable read.
This is a wonderful story of two people who reconnect after many years and numerous life experiences. Regina Weaver and Everett Zook are both surprised when circumstances put them in the same place at the same time, resulting in their spending much time together. All goes well until the secrets they each harbor begin to get in the way.
The romance, hope, family, and faith make this second-chance story such a delight to read. However, there is also a very important lesson in following God's will vs. following our own. It all adds up to a very lovely and touching tug at your heartstrings story.
I am a huge fan of Amy Clipston's Amish books and Caring for the Amish Family did not disappoint! I loved it and didn't want to put it down. Regina and Everett were a great couple and it was so sweet to see how Everett put his feelings out there for Regina. Regina and Everett were both hiding a significant secret from the other which needed to be resolved. I like Regina's daughters and I thought Everett's son and his issue nicely added to the story. If you like Amish romance, I highly recommend this book!
Oh My Goodness! This is a very enlightening story line. I love the characters Regina and Everett. My favorite quote comes from Chad Everett's son: "Just please remember to always keep your heart open to Gott." This is such a true and profound statement. If you in enjoy reading for the joy of the story this is a very good book and the storyline is so uplifting and truly confirms that we always need to trust Gott with all matters .... highs and lows....goods and bads. My thanks to Amy Clipston for this wonderful book.
I got to read an early copy of Amy Clipston's "Caring for the Amish Family," and it was SO sweet. Like, the perfect cozy read. The characters are really nice, and it's just a feel good story. Plus, Sophie, the little two year old, is absolutely adorable! Seriously, you'll melt. If you need a break from everything and just want a happy book, you'll love this one. It comes out in May 2025, and I'm already excited for everyone to read it!😊
This story is a wonderful reminder that Gods has plans for us and often, I’ve found in my own life, my plans are not necessarily His plans. The most important think is to trust him. Also, we need to seek wise and godly counsel and not carry burdens that weigh us down.
This was a breath of fresh air. It was the exact break in reading that I needed since I have been doing a lot of the psychological thriller stuff and the murder mysteries. Amy Clipston is a great author and this was so sweet and uplifting. It also takes place in Lancaster PA about 2-3 hours from where I use to live. If you are looking for something sweet and easy this is your go to.
I really love Amy Clipston’s books. This one just was did not hit it off with me. First I am a pretty honest, upfront person and I don’t understand people who try to hide things. If you need help ask. So that being said—- when Regina needs help with repairs around her house and especially her tax bill things get serious quickly. What was probably God sending help, seemed like an easy way for her to pay off her tax bill without anyone knowing any better. But you’ll have to read it for yourself to see the rest of the story. Library book.
I absolutely loved reading this book. I loved the characters and the story line. It was a cozy well written story. Amy did a great job with this one. Can't wait for the next one.
I always enjoy Amy’s stories and this was her first Love Inspired book. It was such a sweet and heartwarming read. The two main characters Regina and Everett were both widowed and it was refreshing to see the story centered around them. This sweet couple knew each other growing up and they find themselves drawn together again. There was both a need for Regina to find a job and for Everett to find a nanny for his sweet granddaughter Sophie. Secrets were kept that could have ruined relationships but it all worked out. Regina’s daughters were kind, helpful and sweet and your heart will go out to Chad, Everett’s son. A sweet story that will capture your heart.
